"Why Christians get the 10 commandments wrong" (Salon)

Therein lies the problem, discussing the Old Testament convenants for the Hebrews with the Christian's New Testament covenants.

When they don't know the difference their observations will make little sense. Christians have but one commandment and that commandment is love. Accepting Jesus's offer of salvation frees one from the chains that bound them.

The problem is most take it as nine statements and one commandment. The commandment is optional.

According to a message in TLIG, just about everyone could do a better job with The Ten Commandments.

The secularists/atheists/satanists at Salon are the first people I think of when I have a question about the bible.

Valerie Tarico routinely provides her opinion on the abortion issue to the Huffington Post, Salon, and AlterNet. Last June in an opinion paper, Valerie stated, “It’s tempting to think that Christian conservatives have reached some new pinnacle of hating women and sexuality.”

Valerie encourages society to, “honor women who decide to terminate pregnancies, and “honor doctors who provide abortion services,” according to Valarie, the individuals are performing God’s work.

“An abortion when needed is a blessing,” Tarico posited. “It is a gift, a grace, a mercy, a cause for gratitude, a new lease on life. Being able to choose when and whether to bring a child into the world enables us and our children to flourish.” Valerie believes that Christianity is becoming a dinosaur – a religion that is quickly losing its appeal. “Things are looking bright for those who would like to see humanity more grounded in science and reason,” stated Valerie.

Thanks for the post. It is obvious why she would author such a negative and false article.

Dr. Valerie Tarico, former Director of the Children’s Behavior and Learning Clinic in Bellevue, Washington, is a psychologist with a passion for personal and social evolution. In 2005, she co-founded the Progress Alliance of Washington, a collective of future-oriented donors investing in progressive change. She also is the founder of WisdomCommons.org, an interactive website that showcases humanity’s shared moral core via quotes, poetry, stories and essays from many traditions. Tarico’s book, Trusting Doubt: A Former Evangelical Looks at Old Beliefs in a New Light, offers personal insight into how we can apply “constructive curiosity” to our most closely guarded beliefs.

As a social commentator, Tarico writes and speaks on issues ranging from religious fundamentalism to gender roles, to reproductive rights and technologies. A primary focus is on improving access to top tier contraceptive technologies. To that end, she serves on the board of Advocates for Youth, a D.C. based nonprofit with wide-ranging programs related to reproductive health and justice. Tarico co-chairs of Washington Women for Choice, serves on Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest’s Board of Advocates, and is a Senior Writing Fellow at Sightline Institute, a think tank focused on sustainable prosperity. Her articles appear at sites including the Huffington Post, Jezebel, Salon, AlterNet, and the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies, and at her own blog, AwayPoint.

Valerie Tarico, a self-avowed lesbian, atheist and pro-abortionist on the Board of Advocates at Planned Parenthood, America’s one-stop-death-shop, has penned an article laying out ten reasons why she believes that Duck Dynasty bigotry [Christianity] is going to fall.

Tarico rattles off a litany of tired pagan claims repeated often since God created man: There is no God, “Queer sexuality” is winning, “Biblical sexuality” is losing, yada, yada, yada and so forth. “From Hollywood celebs. . .to high school students, skeptics are opening up,” she caws,. . . Today’s young women and men are making the Bible writers look as if they were members of a tribal, Iron Age culture. . . imagine if, on top of everything else, all women got. . . the power to end ill-conceived childbearing.”

“lacks the moral clarity and relevance of, say, the Golden Rule or All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten.”

Apparently the Ten Commandments of God lack the ‘moral relevance’ of things that were admittedly just made up by some guy one day.

“Thou shalt treat living beings as they want to be treated”

I hope this writer doesn’t eat any meat, fish, or plants.

“Thou shalt have sexual relations with neither human nor beast who chooseth not freely what pleasures thou mayest offer”

Correct me if I’m wrong, but this most definitely is an endorsement by this writer of polygamy, incest, and many forms of bestiality.

“Thou shalt wash thy hands before eating”

Is this a joke? How about ‘thou shalt comb thy hair’ or ‘thou shalt recycle’.

I think this is a very subtle satire article. As usual, 90% of the comments are vile

Dividing us from other religious groups, putting us on defensive... Typical Marxist technique of isolation.

next they will lecture Budhists etc... But fear not, Atheists are such experts on religion, so hoping of making more wars against them.

You know, like there is something wrong with stopping evil exploiters from making others do the dirty work for them or destroying the replacement investment... Kind of like coveting a neighbor’s wife the way they use the illegals to make them covet our stuff... Making our work in vain, and demoralisation to boot.

There you go, this article is filled with blasphemer venom of demoralisation, turning a fertile ground into some kind of pavement for gladiator games leftists hope to transform the world into.
