It's time to come back to Mother Church. We want you, we need you, we love you.

Oh?

Luke 12:13-21   (NIV)

13 Someone in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.”

14 Jesus replied, “Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?” 15 Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”

16 And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. 17 He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’

18 “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. 19 And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’

20 “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’

21 “This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.”

Something of an oxymoron.

Kinda like 'all popes were not bad'...

Who is worshiping Mary?

Yeah; since she is DEAD!

Ever notice how many anti-Catholics act like emotional Middle School girls (albeit, sometimes, with a greater vocabulary)?

Besides the obvious fact that what you wrote is literally tacked-on slander that ignored the very pertinent comparison I made, your choice of slanderous topics proves my point. It is of the mindset of a mommy to a recalcitrant young teenage girl. Highly insulting, of course, but also contemptuous of adulthood itself, as was the original post. All specific issues of spiritual and religious difference are ignored and dismissed into mommyland, where disagreement for any reason is designated mere immaturity, and spiteful insult is delivered in the name of mommylove - oh I'm sorry, I mean the love of the Church.

Bummer when your target is an un-confused adult, though.

PS - I hate to break this to you, but your demonstration of love and respect and honesty failed to bring me back to the Church. Maybe if you try more spit next time, that will work better. You know the old saying - spare the hateful contempt, spoil the guilty penitent.

We ask Mary to pray for us. Very simple.

Leave the poor, dead woman ALONE!!

Let's try some easy math:

There are approximately 1.2 billion Catholics world wide;

If merely 1% of them  'ask' Mary for help just once each day;

that means that 12 million separate prayers are headed Mary's direction every day.

Given that there are 86,400 seconds per day... (24 hours times 60 minutes times 60 seconds)

...that means that Mary has to handle approximately 139 'requests' per second!

Purty good fer someone NOT 'devine'!

“Kinda like ‘all popes were not bad’...”

No. That would not be an oxymoron. An oxymoron is a contradiction of terms. No one doubts there have been bad popes.

It fascinates me how anti-Catholicism is so devastating to the mind that it makes its adherents unable even to understand how their own native language works.

Why not ask Jesus directly?

Who do you think He is; anyway??

GOD?

Nothing in the Bible says we should look only to the Bible for all truths.

What is MISSING from the Bible that is NECESSARY for a soul's salvation?

“Among the religious institutions of national influence, the Catholic Church stood alone in protesting the immediate evil and long-term implications of Roe v. Wade .

What a toothless old hag!

41 years now; and Abortion is STILL in the lawbooks.

Catholics are pathetic at BLAMING others for what is going on!

What ever happened to the CRUSADING spirit their church USED to be capable of?

They’re not worshiping her; they’re asking her to put in a good word for them with her Son.

And just why SHOULD she?

If I hire a lawyer; I sure don't need another one to tell him what to do!

An appeal to morality and not salvation?

Don’t need no church for that.

I’ll stick with a church that first and foremost focuses on Jesus, not morality.

You wrote:

Wait. You feel slandered? It isn’t slander, but if you feel slander then are you an anti-Catholic or a Middle School girl?

“Bummer when your target is an un-confused adult, though.”

Well, then there’s no bummer here at all. Again, are you a Middle School girl? An anti-Catholic?

“PS - I hate to break this to you, but your demonstration of love and respect and honesty failed to bring me back to the Church.”

I hate to break this to you, but your demonstration of love and respect and honesty failed to show itself as honest and your failure to return to the Church has nothing to do with me and everything to do with your own pride.

“Maybe if you try more spit next time, that will work better.”

Only if I’m throwing spitballs. What I pitch right at you, however, is the truth. No fast balls, no curves, just easy loping pitches. And you swing and miss every time. And now your charging the mound while crying your eyes out.

“You know the old saying - spare the hateful contempt, spoil the guilty penitent.”

Never heard of it, but it doesn’t matter.

“What is MISSING from the Bible that is NECESSARY for a soul’s salvation?”

Show me where I said “Something is missing from the Bible that is necessary for salvation.” When you show me where I made that claim, I’ll be happy to answer your question.

While you’re looking for that - and you’ll never find any such statement of course - chew on this: Could men be saved even if there was no New Testament?

Boatbums said this ABOUT YOU: “Trying to proselytize Christians from one church to another based on the idea that they can’t possibly BE Christians, is the point DManA is making.”

So, are you wrong, or is he wrong or are you both wrong? Those are the only possibilities.

Thank you for sharing your testimony. You might be surprised to know that MANY of us here have had nearly the same experiences and thoughts as you. I left the Roman catholic church at sixteen when I heard for the first time John 10:27-30

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one.

The Holy Spirit opened my eyes as if a light had turned on that had been out for all my life and I understood that God was telling me I could know I have eternal life by believing in Jesus Christ. I had always thought, like you, that the only way anyone could know they were going to heaven was if they were martyred and I lived in fear thinking I could never be good enough. I praise the Lord every day for His mercy, love and grace and for revealing the gospel to me. He said He is a "rewarder of those who diligently seek Him", and I KNOW it is the truth.

I didn’t say anything about what Romans believe. So the only possibility is you don’t know what you are talking about.

I’m not sure why I got trashed with a Roe vs. Wade question, but you handled it ably, thanks.

As for your very pertinent observation about coming to the Church versus coming to Jesus, that’s really the bottom line here. Jesus said He was the Gate, and to come to him. The Church says that it is the Door to get to Jesus who is the Gate.

Which means, of course, that the Church has to deny personal experiences of both God and Jesus as heresy, if they have not been reviewed, judged, interpreted, applied and sanctioned by the Church. In fact, Pope Francis confirmed this just the other day.

As a result, I would like to announce that I am the Toll Booth Operator, to the Door, to the Gate. And my fees are small, as long as they are steady. And I take any currency, including Bitcoin and PayPal.
