The Return of the Prophet Joseph Smith [Will 2014 bring the second coming of Joseph Smith?]
CryFromTheDust.net ^

- "I come again to lead you forth"

The last admonition of Joseph the Prophet to the Nauvoo Legion, before leaving for the Carthage Jail...: "...This I will promise you, that when I come again to lead you forth, for I will go to prepare a place for you, so that where I am you shall be with me."

SNIP

(D&C Sec. 85, Verse 7) "And it shall come to pass that I, the Lord God, will send one mighty and strong, holding the scepter of power in his hand, clothed with light for a covering, whose mouth will utter words, eternal words; while his bowels shall be a fountain of truth, to set in order the house of God..."

SNIP

The return of Joseph Smith is indisputable. The issues of where he will be, who he is, and when he will be here breeds more deceptions, more false conclusions, more false prophets, more erroneous assumptions than any foretold event in the last days, among those that identify themselves with the Mormon faith. The resulting confusion has produced such a clouded state of thinking and erroneous expectations, that it is likely the emergence of the one mighty and strong will be rejected by the majority of those who look for him...

Prophecy of Heber C. Kimball: Before that day comes, however, the Saints will be put to a test that will try the integrity of the best of them. The pressure will become so great that the more righteous among them will cry unto the Lord day and night until deliverance comes. Then the Prophet Joseph and others will make their appearance and those who have remained faithful will be selected to return to Jackson County, Missouri and take part in the upbuilding of that beautiful city, the New Jerusalem."

From the article:

The last admonition of Joseph the Prophet to the Nauvoo Legion, before leaving for the Carthage Jail...: ...This I will promise you, that when I come again to lead you forth, for I will go to prepare a place for you, so that where I am you shall be with me."

IoW, either Joseph Smith comes again -- a "Second Coming" -- after he has gone to "prepare a place for you" -- or, he's a delusional false prophet who had this Messianic complex.

After all, if we already have Jesus Christ to accomplish both of these things, why do we need Joseph Smith again?

2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. (Jesus, John 14:2-3)

From the article citing Heber C. Kimball, one of the top three Lds Church hierarchists in the mid-to-latter 19th century:

"Then the Prophet Joseph and others will make their appearance and those who have remained faithful will be selected to return to Jackson County, Missouri and take part in the upbuilding of that beautiful city, the New Jerusalem."

There ya have it. Yet another "prophecy" about the Second Coming of Joseph Smith...and that he will return to Jackson Co., Missouri. (Be sure to buy up all that real estate there, ya here? You, too, could be THE FIRST to see the Second Coming of Joseph Smith!)

like salvation etc for Hiram and his favorite wife, Helen’s Mom...

The only One coming back is Jesus Christ. Smith will be judged by Jesus. This is false doctrine at it’s worst.

“those who have remained faithful will be selected to return to Jackson County, Missouri and take part in the upbuilding of that beautiful city, the New Jerusalem”

If being a Mormon means spending eternity stuck outside Kansas City, count me out.

Mormons have debated for a while on Lds "scripture" D&C 85:7 as to who is the "one mighty and strong."

Jon Krakauer, in his book Under the Banner of Heaven: A Story of Violent Faith, said this was a verse of focus by the Mormon murderers (Lafferty brothers)

I just don't understand this comment. Mormonism is all about "THE" Restoration...of God's kingdom; THE "only true and living church on the face of the earth" (Lds Doctrine & Covenants 1:30).

Jackson County will be THE restoration of the Garden of Eden!

Well as they say, you have to pass it to know what’s in it.

Well, if that is where the Lord ends up putting his garden, I don’t want any part of it. I’ve been through Jackson County, and I have absolutely no desire to spend much time there in the future, much less an eternity :)

Joseph Smith was killed in Carthage, Illinois.

Not in Missouri.

See:

http://www.historicnauvoo.net/2010/01/carthage-jail-and-visitors-center/

There are other versions of what happened. The one on that page is the Mormon version.

For another view, read: “No man knows my history”.

All religions are cults. Christianity is not a religion. That’s the difference.

Why MO?

Your statement might explain how I have previously found references confusing Carthage IL & Carthage MO.

I am not even sure if Carthage Mo has a lot of Mormons in it. I have been there and don’t remember seeing anything about it. Spent an unplanned weekend there once.

Actually it’s a good ways from KC. It is close to Ottumwa, Iowa, Tom Arnold’s hometown. And that’s worse that KC so count me out, too.
