Just seven years ago, if someone had told me that I'd be writing for Christianity Today magazine about how I came to believe in God, I would have laughed out loud. If there was one thing in which I was completely secure, it was that I would never adhere to any religionespecially to evangelical Christianity, which I held in particular contempt.
I grew up in the Episcopal Church in Alaska, but my belief was superficial and flimsy. It was borrowed from my archaeologist father, who was so brilliant he taught himself to speak and read Russian. When I encountered doubt, I would fall back on the fact that he believed.
Leaning on my father's faith got me through high school. But by college it wasn't enough, especially because as I grew older he began to confide in me his own doubts. What little faith I had couldn't withstand this revelation. From my early 20s on, I would waver between atheism and agnosticism, never coming close to considering that God could be real.

To Kirsten and all of us, I want to say: The most disturbing and important event that can happen in your little world: when you crack open your front door just a little bit, and the Creator and Sustainer of the Universe comes barreling through.
Kirsten, hold onto your hat. This is just the beginning of your small dimensions being pushed outward into heights, depths, breadths that you once though were mythic or imaginary.
"After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill -- the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill -- you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes."
Morpheus, "The Matrix"

Strange thing about atheists they hate God but love to play God maybe she noticed that?.
“The horror of the prospect of being a devout Christian crept back in almost immediately”.
This gal is one of the biggest hypocrites this side of the moon. No one can call themselves a “devout Christian” and belong to a party that believes in murdering the unborn on demand and believes in sodomite “marriage”. She and others like herself, and I am specially referring to any democrat that claims they are Christian and pro-life, there ain’t no such thing. You either follow the Lord or you follow satan. You can not have two masters.
When we say that some people are “non-religious” we are adopting the language of the Marxist Left. It allows the godless Marxist Left to shape and direct the discussion.
All sentient humans have a religious worldview. That worldview is either godless or God-centered. No thinking human is religiously neutral in the content with which they fill their lives or the consequences for themselves and others.
**ALL** thinking humans are religious because their worldview, godless or God-centered, can not be proved. Their worldviews regarding God, His existence or non-existence, is based on faith and belief.
With God all things are possible.
Never trust Kirsten Powers.
That is all.
I have seen her call a lie a lie without any coaxing. That tells me something.
According to the conservative Town Hall she is a pro-Life liberal:
Most of the opposition is Roman Catholic on this thread. If she went to Rome instead of Evangelical then praises would be sung. I posted a link where a town hall conservative states Powers is pro-Life. He could be wrong or wishful thinking. I will try to do some background work on this.
I agree she has to divorce the demoncrat party. Just like Nancy Pelosi should be excommunicated. How is that effort progressing? Any word from Rome?
You could be right. Just as there should be no pro-abortion Christians.
Praise God for his infinite mercy!
If she remains Dem may she be a moderating force in that wicked assembly.
...Christians 'grow' in their sanctification....
...She may be a 'new Christian'....
If not, and she still claims acceptance of killing the unborn....homosexual marriages or acts...etc....
..then she needs to fully read the Bible and ask herself why her opinions don't jibe with God's Word.
We are rather too quick to attribute the worst possible motives to people-- like hypocrisy, which is conscious, deliberate moral fraud, and akin to being a liar. Rather, I am sure Kirsten, as a fairly new convert, is still very much in motion: she's not a "freeze-frame," she's a "movie" tending rapidly in a new direction.
She has written and against the MSM's malicious negligence in not covering the Kermit Gosnell Abortion House of Horror story. That has already gotten her in plenty of hot water with the leftwing journo herd, right there.
Let's not slap new converts across the face. We should give her the hand of fellowship and say, "Come further in, Kristin!" --- not "You're contemsptible, you hypocrite."
Agreed!
At least not since the deaths of Sargent and Eunice Shriver. Jesse Jackson and Ted Kennedy both espoused prolife views at one time.
