The Vaticans new secretary of state, Archbishop Pietro Parolin said this week that the issue of priest celibacy is not dogma and is therefore up for discussion.
Its not a church dogma and it can be discussed because it is a church tradition, Parolin told the Venezuelan El Universal, according to a translation by the National Catholic Reporter.
The work the church did to institute ecclesiastical celibacy must be considered, said Parolin, who will officially assume the role of secretary of state in October. We cannot simply say that it is part of the past. It is a great challenge for the pope, because he is the one with the ministry of unity and all of those decisions must be made thinking of the unity of the church and not to divide it.....

The better way to eliminate pederasts, is not to make clergy and marriage mutually exclusive...
Pedophiles are homosexuals or someone the victim may already know such as a parent, uncle, cousin, coach, teacher, etc. — not priests.
It’s always been up for discussion since it is not Church dogma or doctrine but a discipline of the Latin Rite of the Catholic Church.
That is interesting logic. Are you saying that because the abuser is a priest...he is not a pedophile?
in other words... fags on their way into the church
(hide the choir boys!)
marriage cures sex criminals?
Those who dig things like abortion, ‘gay marriage,’ and priestesses are always those who invariably want the discipline of celibacy ended. Every time, as far as I have observed.
Freegards
They create an unnatural environment and are surprised when it attracts people with unnatural tendencies.
We have precedent in this; Jewish rabbis are expected to be fruitful and multiply. In the Eastern Catholic rites, men who are married can enter the priesthood if they wish to do so.
On one hand, one can refer to Paul in 1 Corinthians, when he counsels that those who have the self-control (and this is important to note) to do so, should maintain celibacy.
On the other, it is commonly acknowledged that many of the early Apostles were married men.
At this stage in time, what would be the proper decision for this discipline of clerical celibacy in the Latin Rite?
The most probable pedophiles in order are:
Fathers and other male relatives
Teachers
Coaches
Protestant ministers
Priests are way down on the list.
So if a father is a teacher of mid-high history, coaches the girls basketball team and is a youth minister at his church on weekends/Sundays watch out! He would be much more prone to pedophilia that any priest.

Sorrowfully in this age of unnatural abominations made mainstream, celibacy stands out as a grave insult to the perverse, who naturally despise such antithesis of evil.
Self control, sacrifice and offering of the priesthood, by the priest, sets them apart in this world. The Enemy is jealous of such men, wishing accordingly to devour them and bring division to the Church, wherever there is an opening.
That actually wasn’t my question.
The post I responded to stated “Pedophiles are (insert long list here) ...but not priests.
I never said that there were not abusers in every faith, every walk of life.
The Church has paid many dollars in lawsuits. They do not deny abuse in certain instances.
Priests can be abusers as well as any other. Just because they are “far down on the list” does not make it any less true.
What is your source for “the most probable pedophiles” being fathers and Christian leaders?
Ping
So...I read the entire article.
The last sentence addresses the decline of men willing to be priests in the last 50 years.
This could just be about attracting leaders to the church. jmho
Salvation,
Again, come on...I think you should know better than that.
