Pope Francis on Sunday urged Christians and Muslims to promote mutual respect , especially through the education of new generations. His remarks came at the end of his Angelus address when he sent greetings to Muslims throughout the world who have just celebrated the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.

Ah .... I see where that headline came from - the PPSimmons blog.
I understand your angst. I do. But let me ask you a hypothetical. If the head of the Southern Baptist Convention had said we should have mutual respect between Christians and, I don’t know, say the wiccans, would you feel this reflected poorly on that leader?
Now wiccans are a poor example, because they do not routinely slaughter their theological enemies. But they are adverse to the cause of Christ. I honestly cannot picture the Apostle Paul or John or least of all Jesus offering them the cover of some purported “mutual respect.”
But the subjects of this controversy don’t need and don’t deserve our respect *as muslims.” But we should still love our enemies. And if that had been the approach taken, instead of the treacherous waters of “mutual respect,” I do not think it would have raised so many eyebrows.
This is the mark of a Pope who is trying to convert millions.
Did you read the story about the Pentecostals in Brazil that converted to Catholicism?
“Go out into the whole world, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
Weren’t those the words of Christ to the apostles before his Ascension?
Boy, that’s an anti-Catholic website, if I ever saw one!
I thought well of this new Pope and have, incident after incident lost those good thoughts.
Funny, Islam will now call for a Jihad against the Pope
amen to that.
we know he’s ssayng that. he is wrong, this teaching of the church is wrong on this. muslims are not saved, they don’t get a pass because they think Mary is awesome, and even more liked than Jesus who they call a liarand not the Son of God.
they have zero inheritance in the One True God - NOT ALLAH - as muslims. just like any other person who does not receive Jesus Christ as God, Savior and Lord.
the wiccan religion does not have a core belief to force conversion or kill those who won’t convert to wicca.
people that want to jihad you to death arent interested in mutual respect.
Now I'll read the rest of the death threats to you
Maranatha, brother.
I pray to Him every night for help, but I see this sick reality every day. I’m greatly flawed and a sinner, looking for His help.
You mean that a community of Pentecostals that came into the Catholic Church? Congratuations and WELCOME HOME brothers and sisters!
Where're the Catholics ?
I don’t condone what the Muslims do at all. Prayer is what they need.
With God’s help, something will happen here — although we may not live to see it.
If my memory is correct, I think St. Francis of Assisi even preached to a group of Muslims.
You are totally right—why even mention them.
The Pope being a civilized person does not understand the unreasoning hatred in the minds of the true Muslim believer. He is trusting that there will be some bit of humanity that he can appeal to but for the real hardcore Islamists this will appear to be weakness. They will despise the Pope and will be encouraged to provoke him just for spite. When Pope Benedict asked the Muslims to not kill and abuse Christians the top clerics told him to mind his own business. These people are animals, they had every shred of decency drained out of them in their childhood.
Pray for the conversion of ALL, including the Muslims, to Christ.
