Bishops dance to a new tune

World Youth Day 2013, Bishops practicing for event Rio de Janeiro

http://rorate-caeli.blogspot.com/2013/07/bishops-dance-to-new-tune.html 86 comments: Frank Carleton said... At last! POST VATICAN II : THE EPISCOPAL MUSICAL or bishops behaving fatuously. Unsurprising that evangelical Protestantism is advancing in South America. Protestants do such antics better. These gyrating bishops are not leaders but gormless followers aping youthful behaviour and being simply silly. 27 July, 2013 22:50

Sometimes I wonder if some of those who have posted opposing the prayerful dancing are just giving nothing but “their opinions” only?

nothing in those OT quotes says anything to support that these are IN The Temple. My read on almost all is they are NOT.

Go read lives of Canonized Saints (will take a couple lifetimes) to get idea of Godly joy etc y’all say you have a line on.

We’ve long called what you are partaking in is Protestant Emotionalism.

Your opinion and your opinion only.

Rather what I say is part of having “joy in the Lord”.

This will interest you and prove the point I was making:

Plus did not Paul say that one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit is JOY?

“Do you see it that way? As opposed to made humans to serve God? Many Blessed Saints’ lives full of suffering and misery, for a reason. Can’t say the same for many who go around sporting “Life is Good” bumper stickers. “

Yes!

Sex produces procreation, but it is pleasurable.
Food is for nourishment, but it is pleasurable.
Friendship has practical uses, but it is pleasurable.
Life is filled with blessings.

Perhaps you need time to count your blessings?

God commands us to “enjoy life with the wife of your youth.”

If God brings suffering into your life, trust Him. Paul says “in everything give thanks” and “rejoice in suffering”.

Life is good because the Author of life is good.

“These men are promoting absurd, vainglorious ‘worship’(albeit they aren’t in a ‘sanctuary’, or are they-was a Novus Ordo rite said here afterward?) whereas Our Lord said His House was one of prayer.”

When David danced before the Lord, it was not in a house of worship.

I have no use for any faith that denies the blessings he made.
There is a reason GOD rejoices when sinners repent.
There is a reason saints sing songs of triumph in the Hebrew Scriptures and in heaven.

I wouldn’t call it pray, but I would call it worship and celebration.

“the assembled public dancing is below a bishop’s office.”

Scripture reference?

“We’ve long called what you are partaking in is Protestant Emotionalism.”

You might also add to your reading list the Hebrew Scriptures and especially Ecclesiastes.

A portion of Ecclesiastes was read as the OT reading for my church’s Sunday worship about “vanity”.

After a very difficult year that I had, from July 2012 to July/August 2013, that whole book of Ecclesiaiastes was for me, all was woven in a song which spoke of my life this past year. Done by the late Johnny Cash before he passed on a number of years back, and done by the heavy metal rock band, NIN, but Cash’s was the better version.

The song was called “Hurt”.

Even though all the Scriptures aren’t about us, they are all for us. It amazes me how certain parts speak to us when we need Him to speak to our hearts the most.

Blessings to you.

Voris is spot on when he talks about the power of the “sign”.

I have followed albeit loosely some FR religious debates over the years ( isn’t that one about a Dominican ‘priest’-I doubt the validity of V2 ordinations BTW-who went ‘charismatic’ then left altogether for Evangelicalism nearing 8000 posts over some 3 years?) and, as stated here, was at least in hindsight reminded of my wariness to launch a thread.

A favorite post among all I’ve seen on FR was: Protestants do everything wrong.

Best I can say is: sorry, you don’t understand and Faith is a gift.

I’m unclear on your message to me. Would you explain further?

Thank you and bless you.

I am and will always be suspicious of motives of most bishops.

Regarding the topic of this thread, either of us could be wrong.

It’s only in matters of faith and morals — neither of which you can watch in a Youtube video, because you can’t know the interior condition — that you can be 100% sure of one’s position.
