Breitbart News reported last week that Rep. John Fleming (R-LA) passed an amendment in the House Armed Services Committee protecting religious speech of service members in the military. President Barack Obama has now threatened to veto the bill if it passes the full House and Senate.
The White House released a Statement of Administration Policy (SAP) on H.R. 1960, the National Defense Authorization Act of 2014. Among other items, the SAP includes as an objection to the bill:
Expansion and Implementation of Protection of Rights of Conscience of Members of the Armed Forces and Chaplains of Such Members: The Administration strongly objects to section 530, which would require the Armed Forces to accommodate, except in cases of military necessity, “actions and speech” reflecting the “conscience, moral principles, or religious beliefs of the member.” By limiting the discretion of commanders to address potentially problematic speech and actions within their units, this provision would have a significant adverse effect on good order, discipline, morale, and mission accomplishment.
The SAP includes a veto threat: “…if the bill is presented to the President for approval in its current form, the President’s senior advisers would recommend that the President veto the bill.”
In other words, Obama says he will veto any bill that forbids his appointees or officers from telling a soldier that he cannot mention Jesus during prayer or have a Bible on his desk, or that keeps those appointees from telling a chaplain (who is an ordained clergyman) what religious teachings he is allowed to give in worship services, or what spiritual counseling he can give to another soldier.
Well I hope all the dumb sh##s that voted for this piece of crap are happy now.
If you merely replaced the word “religious” in that provision with “sexual orientation” then Obama would be demanding its inclusion.
Me too. And I want them to enjoy both barrels of what he is going to send their [and our] way. i won’t but I have not enjoyed him from day one so any more won’t matter to me. But I still want to see his deciples suffer. if they had the intelligence to get in out of the rain, the fate of Ambassador Stevens would make them nervious.

And yet, the morale and discipline affront of faggotry in the military is to be not only allowed but embraced — if you merely remain silent about the sexual preferences of sodomites, you are guilty of a “hate crime” and will be disciplined.
May GOD have mercy on this nation. It’s shameful how far we have fallen.
I must be naïve because I thought that the 1st Amendment of the Constitution already guarantees this.

Of course the White House strongly objects to Christian liberty. He has nothing to lose at this point but he is more than willing to cause others to lose more and more of what they hold near and dear.

At Great Lakes NTC in 1961 we were not issued one, but we were told that the only books we were permitted to possess during boot camp were the Bible and the Bluejacket's Manual.
The whole rationale of the Chaplain Corps is to guarantee the religious rights of men and women in uniform, not to help the Co maintain good morale, but this is what officers have been led to believe — that a Chaplain is something like a shrink.
And the Black “church” is silent because it worships Ob@ma.
I hear you, but, what if the book displayed were a Koran? Or, Anton Sandor LaVey’s “Satanic Bible”? As a CO I would be inclined to tell the user of such books to put them away if I were to think their open display affect morale and discipline.
Why would I want that power to be taken away?
We have to think this through carefully.

Ridiculous comment by the President. The military has already been accommodating since 1776 WITHOUT an adverse effect.
This protection is being promoted because those basic rights, which up to now have been accepted, are being discriminated against.
I cannot more strongly object to the president's false portrayal of the situation.
For centuries, the US military has understood the intent of the 1st amendment right to free exercise -- that it's far better to let people speak their minds on these subjects than it is to get the government involved in deciding what is proper religious expression and what isn't. In fact, government accepted prayer would be government ESTABLISHING a government approved religion.
