(CNSNews.com) -- When he said Mass for the College of Cardinals in the Sistine Chapel on Thursday, newly elected Pope Francis I warned these princes of the church against professing what he called the worldliness of the devil, a demonic worldliness.

There are no other terms, but the Cross. The world does not set the terms of Christ.
All the secular world's demands of 'good works' are worshipping who if done without the Cross?
But where are the crosses in our churches today?? Many have been removed.
If he thinks he can sense demonic worldliness at the Vatican he should see what its like to live near the seat of demonic power (DC)
No kobe beef for him !!!
I don’t think he means the Cross as an idol of worship ...
He is speaking about the Cross in your heart and soul.
A few years ago, a friend of mine invited me to join his Baptist church. The first thing I noticed was the absence of a cross both outside the church and inside which I thought was very strange....
And for the almost a year I attended, all the pastor's sermons were entirely on 1 Corinthians.....I thought that was strange too.
I know our Baptist Church has a Cross right on the wall above the Pastor’s head as he stands in the pulpit. And, when a Pastor uses an expository preaching style (ie. preaching through the books of the bible) it can easily take a year or even two to preach through as book as large as 1 Coriinthians. I remember our former Pastor taking about a year to preach through 1 Thesselonians, and its a relatively short NT book.
Benedict decreed that there always be a crucifix when Mass is celebrated. I always look to the crucifix and the red candle to know that there is the Real Presence.
So far, Francis seems like a great pope. Very different and unexpected, but very good.
I agree, Pope Francis inspires me already. To me “the cross” is both literal and symbolic. Of course Christian churches, and people should present he cross, the cross defines who we are. The cross is also a symbol of sacrifice, obedience, and willingness to suffer/repent for our sins, and that is where a lot of people go wrong. People will wear the cross, but not bare the cross. They subconsciously refuse to embrace the passion of the cross because it is not easy. It requires humility and detachment from the world we have to live in. We have to continuously ask God for strength, and stay faithful to the sacramental gifts that He gave us.
Anyone who does not pray to the Lord prays to the devil, Francis said, quoting Leon Bloy,a French writer who died in 1917,and who converted from agnosticism to Catholicism.
My prayer for all of us is that the Holy Spirit, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, our Mother, will grant us this grace: to walk,to build,to profess Jesus Christ crucified. Amen.
1 Timothy 2:5 “For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
The Bible tells us that Jesus Christ Himself is interceding for us before the Father: “Therefore He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them” (Hebrews 7:25). And then we also have Romans 8:26-27 describes the Holy Spirit interceding for us. With the 2nd and 3rd members of the Trinity already interceding for us before the Father in heaven, what need is there for any non-omnisscient dead human being to be a mediator? Does Mary know the number of hairs on your head?
Even Satan can transform into an angel of light- 2 Corinthians 11:14-15 and has snowed even the very elect, as the bible warns.. Fatima is blinding a flock all the way to destruction..
That's going into my memory bank.
It's true. So many people ask "Why?" when they suffer. Few ask "Why not?" Just look at the Cross.
In this world about which we have been warned, who has an aversion to & is repelled by, the mere sight of and simple display of the Cross of Jesus?
Think long & hard. The correct answer will consist of a list.

Not in my church. When they remodeled the altar a few years ago, they built a new background for our old crucifix, making it larger (and more beautiful), and it hangs right in the center where every one can see it. Plus, we always have a processional cross that changes by the season that comes in at the beginning of the Mass, resides at the side of the altar during Mass, goes out and comes back in with the offering, and leads the recessional when the Priests, altar boys, etc. leave at the conclusion of the ceremonies.
‘Demonic Worldliness’ explains a lot including young peoples’ (even many “conservatives” — as Rush just said) obsession with getting universal homo marriage as if that’s the only issue that matters to them. I’m making damn sure that the young people in our family don’t go that route.
