The Pope is THE elder. The elder of elders, if you will.
As far as “smoke signals”, you make an issue of a non-issue all to belittle.
You’re entitled to your opinion. Accord the same.
Really I don’t wish to have a discussion. I don’t wish to argue opinions.
I stand on the Word of God and not the traditions of man. But I will repeat the point a Catholic made upthread simply because it underscored the point I’m making:
There is no spiritual significance or relevance in smoke-signalling a new pope than there is in having a covered dish supper.
I don’t recall any claims of spiritual significance in using black or white smoke to report the vote. There may be some symbolism, but no spiritual significance.
You disagree with Catholicism. That’s fine, it’s your business. Don’t let preconceptions blind you.
Hi Ann,
The first who started using the label “Baptist” date from about the 1600s.
Those, however, who practiced immersion baptism and credo baptism date from a much earlier period. Those are the 2 major items of their “baptism” doctrine, and immersion baptism definitely is as old as Eastern Orthodoxy, and credo-baptism is also very early.
So, the label wasn’t used early, but the major baptism practices were.
Sarcasm most often is used to mask the truth. :) It’s ok that you haven’t read them. You could read them today.
Everyone has to start on some day- and I would never mock anyone who hasn’t read- but I would encourage you to get a Bible and read it. The Holy Spirit will guide you into all understanding.
It would seem that Cal doesn’t understand the difference between infallablity and impeccability.
Impeccability — looks for the mistakes in a man.
Infallability — is guided byt the Holy Spirit, used only rarely, for issues of faith and morals only.

No kidding! I didn’t think a /sarc tag was necessary.
Great compilation. Thank you for it.
Our issue, I think, is that Jesus lives and Mary, just like every other person who ever lived, is dead. Nothing in Scripture supports praying to dead people - in fact, precisely the opposite.
>Id argue that you are missing the point. But you know full well the point is that smoke, tweets,or anything else is just unnecessary as this whole process is unbiblical.
So youre right. I am complaining over silly (selecting a pope) things.<
Then don’t watch it! Change the channel when it comes on! Don’t read the threads that are talking about! See, that’s not so hard.
Mary could very well indeed be dead but what about the Transfiguration with Abraham and Moses? Moses died but his body was nowhere to be found. Enoch was translated. Apparently some people are in Heaven for a purpose but the rest are "asleep".
Again, get a dictionary and look up the word pray. It isn’t always related to worshipping God. You have an American view on this. Believe me, in other countries pray can and does mean something else.
Could you please read the first verse in that chapter?
thanks
Jesus had some of Mary’s DNA which obviously makes Mary without sin as was Jesus, both God and man.
Show us where it says in the Bible that nothing is true unless it is in the Bible. The Holy Spirit will guide the Catholic Church forever.
Catholics do not pray to the Blessed Mother and the saints; they are intercessories, like asking a friend to pray for you.... this happens all the time on FR.
I never realized how arrogant this man is!
Christ is not without sin because of any attribute of His mother. He is without sin because of His Father. The bloodline of children comes from their father not their mother. Further, again I ask you, if Mary were without sin, why could she not atone for the sins of all? Why did she not go to Calvary’s cross?
Those “dead people” are alive in Christ!
Romans 8:26 "In the same way the Spirit comes to the aid of our weakness. We do not even know how we ought to pray, but through our inarticulate groans the Spirit himself is pleading for us",
Romans 8:27.."and God who searches our inmost being knows what the Spirit means, because he pleads for God's people as God himself wills:"
Pan....you might want to check into why these two readings are SO DIFFERENT!! My Bible says that even the Holy Spirit prays to God for us...even thought the Holy Spirit IS the Third Person of the Trinity!!
Baptism is from the year 32 or 33 from John the Baptist, Jesus’s cousin.
