I wouldn't say that -- depends on where you go. I lived in the south of England, Brighton, for years and the Catholic churches I went to (there were two in the city limits and one outside) were all packed for all 4 to 11 masses each Sunday and sometimes on weekdays too). The Coptic Church in nearby Hove was also packed the one time I went there and I peeked in a Baptist church there and it was also packed.
The Catholic Churches in the north when I went on holidays were also more or less full in Edinburgh, Bristol, Cambridge etc.

I think many Jews will have intermarried so have different ethnic looks - for instance Jews from Maharastra (Bombay) in India have lived there for 2000 years and look like locals, as do Jews from Ethiopia.

A woman who is a native Edinburger told me that there are very few Catholics in Edinburgh and that most of the churches there are Presbyterian or Methodist. However, she left there many years ago to settle in the US.

I don't think so -- the Churches I've seen are pretty old -- and there were about 9 or so in the city that I remember., I went to the one at Leith -- St. Mary's Star of the Sea
Most of the Presbyterians and Methodist Churches in Scotland are empty -- I'm not sure why quite frankly. Also, from my understanding most of the attendees in the Catholic Churches are immigrants from Ireland and there were a few indians over there

I'm not sure what's happened to the Scots. I only really visited and knew lowland scots -- not the highlanders leave alone folks from Skye etc. but to me the Scots seemed, I'm sorry to say, pitiful -- they had the entire William of Wallace bravado on, yet none of them could speak Gaelic. They were very much "I hate the English", yet they only knew English, they were not Christian anymore and seemed not to know their own culture.
it's almost a hollywoodisation of culture

That fits the description of a Scottish Lowlander that I know who immigrated to this country. He has the bravado of William Wallace--he used to walk out of movie theaters when "God Save the Queen" was played at the conclusion of films. However, he's quite aware of his heritage--for example, he often appears at "Burns balls"--commemorating the birthday of Scottish poet Robert Burns--that take place in January within the Scottish-American community, and he reads Burns' poem
Address to the Haggis, one of the highlights of such programs

note of course that I posted from my experience — I make no claim that my impression was true of all of the Scots

One of the Vietnamese girls here had hair down to her thighs. She cut it off to almost a boy cut and a year later it was as long as it was before she cut it.

I read the first line and the last line and looked at the sprawling mass [no pun intended] in the middle. So just remember when making very long tedious ancillary posts like this, put the conclusion in the first sentence, then a summary for the last sentence and then we’re all good. Nobody reads the middle anymore so you could just put yada yada blah blah between the first and last sentence which actually may be an improvement.
