STEUBENVILLE, OH, September 11, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The national agency which grants accreditation to social work courses is questioning Franciscan University of Steubenville over a course which lists homosexuality as a deviant behavior. Attention was drawn to the course by a group of Franciscan University alumni, identifying themselves as “Franciscan Gay Alumni & Allies”, who are demanding publicly that the university “revise its course descriptions and to stop contributing the culture of hate and ignorance.”
The course is called ‘Deviant Behavior’ and the part of the course description in question states, “The behaviors that are primarily examined are murder, rape, robbery, prostitution, homosexuality, mental illness, and drug use.”
In the press release issued by “Franciscan Gay Alumni & Allies” and published by the Daily Kos, further accusations and demands are made, based solely on the ‘Deviant Behavior’ course description. Among them are the group’s accusation that students are “being taught ideological falsehoods in the classroom,” and that the classification of homosexuality as a deviant behavior “feed(s) cultural biases and promote hatred for lesbian and gay individuals.”
The group goes on to make a broad demand that the university “revise its course descriptions,” “stop contributing the culture of hate and ignorance,” and “conduct an audit of its entire curriculum and remove any information being taught on this subject that is outdated and not substantiated by sound scientific fact.”
Regarding the last demand the group states, “It is about time the University aligns itself with the truth of this matter.”

by definition, an activity engaged in by less than 1% of the population for which the body was not designed for is “deviant”
‘Twould seem to me that a couple of percent of the population doing something that the rest wouldn’t even want to think of might be devient...but then again, math is not the friend of the politically correct.

I’m guessing that Franciscan’s ALSO teaching that it’s sinful; but that doesn’t seem to be a problem for the gay alums.
The issue that really counts is that God declares homosexuality to be against His Law. But to be fair to His words, He declares in no uncertain terms (see for example Revelation 22:15) that one of the conditions of His free gift of eternal life is that the person does not violate God’s Law in his life, including his sexual behavior.
So, there may be many Freepers who believe in the Ten Commandments, and who think they are obeying God in their live, but are living with their “significant others”. If you are acting like you are married, why not live in complete harmony with God’s Law , get married, and settle the issue?
In Steubenville in August, a 16 year old cheerleader, 4.0 GPA girl was drugged unconsious, gang raped by numerous members of the student body at a party, the rape was videotaped, photos and video posted on youtube/twitter, and tweets followed such as "how can she sleep with a wang in the butthole"? and "no foreplay needed lol" went viral and pics of the girl passed out with let's say "fluid" on her was sent to her dad saying "look at your whore daughter now" and telling him to pick her up.
This story never made the local news except a small burb in the paper until a blogger broke it and saved all the tweets etc. which are available online on her site.
Guess what? the alleged guys who particpiated are from either old/new money, local officials son's and most are honor roll students themselves etc..the two arrested out of the 5-7 boys are poor with no influential families...

However the pecentage of that group is much higher in the socialolgy and psycology set. (Not to mention our media)
The Catechism of the Catholic Church states that homosexuality is intrinsically disordered, so I don’t see how Franciscan U can teach any different. The Catechism also teaches that masturbation is intrisically disordered too, and any sex at all outside a valid marriage is gravely sinful.
Catholicism is not for the faint of heart.
The goal of the gays IMO is to overwhelm the ages old conception of morality, and normalize their abhorrent behavior. This goal is their assigned goal promoted by, and supported by those that would destroy morality, ie; Christian belief to control the Human existance, to manipulate humankind for the benefit of themselves, and those deemed as their loyal cronies.
I see the radical Left as liberals under the influence and guidance of radicals, aka; Criminal elements.
I note the similarities in goals, and the apparent alliance of the radical Left, and Islam. Christianity is the major obstacle in this World to them both.
I live in Steubenville and the city has no better ally than Franciscan. It provides many jobs and pumps a lot of money into our local economy. I do not think that this investigation is spontaneous. Their Christ the King Chapel is in our city logo and the day last spring that the university made national headlines for stating that they will not follow obamacare laws, the Freedom From Religion Foundation filed a suit against our city because of the cross. Now this. I do not believe that this is a coincidence. This is a planned attack from the left, and they are fighting this war now on two fronts. Their plan is to make multiple issues uncomfortable until Franciscan totally capitulates.
I guess ACADEMIC FREEDOM only applies if you are teaching subjects in a politically correct manner!

Make the teachers unable to teach and be Christian.
Thing is, it will work. If they can regulate the religious schools, they can regulate all religious education.

I was reading this thread and agreeing with most of the posts and then I thought of all the repugnant things that liberal professors are teaching and really got mad. Maybe we should encourage conservative students to fight back against the liberal bigotry too and give them a taste of their own medicine.
Intrinsically disordered is the correct phrase.
The male copulatory organ was not designed for insertion into the bodily orifaces of other males. If it was, such an action would lead to reproduction. Since it does not serve the natural function of said organ, homosexuality IS a DEVIANT activity.
And WHAT is so difficult to understand as THAT????
