Democrats broke into a battle of wills on Wednesday over the need to restore God to the party’s official platform. After much infighting, they eventually made a change that restored language that was in the 2008 platform.
It now reads: "We need a government that stands up for the hopes, values and interests of working people and gives everyone willing to work hard the chance to make the most of their God-given potential."
Republicans had a field day with the godless platform. But was the change actually necessary?
We asked Sister Simone Campbell, executive director of the Catholic social justice lobbying group NETWORK and organizer of the Nuns on the Bus tour, if a Democratic platform needs to explicitly acknowledge any deity.
“I was comfortable with God not being named. If you choose God, do you use Allah, Yahweh and all the various names?” Campbell, who spoke at the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday night, asked Current. “I think that is the challenge in such a diverse society.”
Campbell added, “Some people think that is the only way you can be a faithful person. For me, it is much more about shared values. In a society where we have many names for the divine, I think it will be hard to pick one.”
Campbell and her Nuns on the Bus gathered several hundred people in the basement of St. Peter’s Church in Charlotte Thursday morning to brainstorm what the Nuns on the Bus can do next. She tells us that the movement, which began as a fight against Paul Ryan’s social services–cutting budget, has taken on a life of its own.
Later this month a group of religious women in New York City will do a Nuns on the Ferry rally.
A group in Missouri has also taken up the mantle, and the NETWORK website provides the tools for pretty much anyone to become a nun on the bus.
“This has become open source. There is a kit for what you need. You can get these magnets and get a caravan together and you can be the nuns on the bus,” Campbell said.
It seems if there ever was someone who needs to be issues a religious “Cease & Desist” order that you are outside the Catholic lanes in the road is someone whose very life should symbolize those lanes!
I mean she is chewing up Catholic internal resources that support her and doing the opposite of what the Catholic Church teaches!
After the democrats so openly displayed what they are about in Charlotte, I can’t understand anyone who professes to be a Christian would consider voting democrat. It just doesn’t make sense.
They are wolves in sheep’s clothing and false believers with a counterfeit faith. I bet most or if not all of these types are lesbians.

All this nun is doing is showing she does not even know her own Catholic religion. For one thing, God and Yahweh are one and the same. He is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of Christians and Jews.
Also, the name Yahweh was considered so sacred by the Israelites, they never pronounced it. They used other words to convey the name of God. Further, out of respect for the Jewish faith regarding use of the name Yahweh, a while back The Vatican requested that the word not be used anywhere during Catholic services.
Lastly, Allah is not the God of Christians and Jews. To claim that God and Allah essentially are one and the same is nonsense.

The Sisters of Social Service. Thier mother house is in Los Angeles. The other sisters in the community are like her. Thier loyalty is to thier community, not to the Church. They own thier own real estate, the deeds are in thier name. The bishop cannot kick them off of their land. They are a dying organization. Simone is one of the younger members.
