“What order does she belong to?”
The Sisters of Social Service. Thier mother house is in Los Angeles. The other sisters in the community are like her. Thier loyalty is to thier community, not to the Church. They own thier own real estate, the deeds are in thier name. The bishop cannot kick them off of their land. They are a dying organization. Simone is one of the younger members.
I thought you were joking, but that is actually true.
Simone Campbell, an attorney and Sister of Social Service, is the Executive Director of NETWORK, a Catholic leader in the global movement for justice and peace that educates, organizes and lobbies for economic and social transformation. She formerly served as Executive Director of JERICHO, an interfaith public policy and advocacy organization in California. As an attorney, she represented low-income people for 18 years in California, where she founded a community-based law center. She also led her international community of women religious for five years, is fluent in Spanish, and is an accomplished poet. Source
"An accomplished poet," no less? If you were that, would you put it in your resume and say it like that?
Thanks for the info.
