That’s why we respect our priests and call them “Father.”

This wouldn’t ever happen in a Catholic Church. The Knights of Columbus would escort anyone out of the church who even tried to get close to the sanctuary.

I’ve had priests that I would’ve liked to thump over the head with the good book, including one in particular who stated during his sermon that he is a “die-hard democrat.”

May that's part of the problem with what's going on in the Roman Catholic Church!

Of course not; hardly any Catholics take bibles to church. ;-)

'Bad spirits' led man to attack priest in church

"Garda Trevor Madden told prosecutor Fiona McGowan that the first man Farrell attacked was a Romanian national who was sitting with his wife and child outside the church at around 9.30am.

Constantine Rostas told gardai later that Farrell jumped on him and tried to dislodge his eye with his finger. Mr Rostas managed to push Farrell off but was left with a blood clot.

Farrell then went into church and took a ciborium -- an ornate cup used to hold wafers -- and lunged at the head of Fr Patrick McManus, striking him with it and then chasing the priest around the church.

He then attacked Michael Dillon, an elderly sacristan. He held Mr Dillon in a headlock and tried to gouge his eyes out."

Priest attacked during Lithuania mass

"A Roman Catholic priest has been set on fire by an assailant while giving mass in the small Lithuanian town of Jovana.

The assailant reportedly charged the priest, Remigijus Kuprys, 46, sprayed him with flammable liquid and set him on fire with a cigarette lighter."

http://community.seattletimes.nwsource.com/archive/?date=19910321&slug=1273059>Woman Shoots Priest In Beacon Hill Church

"Some parishioners were in the church for an 8 a.m. Mass when the shooting occurred shortly before. The church is at 15th Avenue South and South McClellan Street.

Mary Katona, who was in the church at the time of the shooting, said she saw the woman at the back of the church about 7:30 a.m.

Naumes, who had been near the altar, walked to a small room where he put on his vestments for the service, Katona said. The woman followed him into the vestry and shut the door. A short time later, Katona and others said they heard three or four shots.

Naumes then pushed the woman out of the room and held the door so she couldn't get back in, Katona said.

The woman then left the church.

When the parishioners got to the priest, it appeared he had been shot in the head and the shoulder. But they said he was coherent and calm."

Transsexual attacks priest during Mass in Italy

"Police in Milan detained a Brazilian transsexual on Sunday after he stripped naked in front of the altar during Mass and began to attack the priest who was presiding over the Mass.

The incident occurred at the Church of St. Babila at the 8:30am Mass on Sunday.

According to ANSA news agency, the subject entered the church and approached the altar, where he stripped naked. “Afterwards he took a pole used by the sacristan to close doors and approached the celebrating priest. Several people in congregation tried to stop him, and the man went to the baptismal chapel and began striking a commemorative plaque full of money, which he tried to steal."

Boy, do you know how do deliver a straight line or what? You got off easy with the (deserved) amount of abuse you took! It could’ve been much, much worse. You should’ve apologized and slinked away quietly.

Sorry, Salvation, got to disagree with you on this. This could happen. The lady in question was against the pastor and went loco. It could happen anywhere and by the time people would gather to stop him/her the whack would have happened

I don't see anything in this which couldn't happen in an Apostolic Church. Matter of fact, I ,personally, would like to hit the few liberal priests I know with a heavy Bible -- in my mind, if they step out of the boundaries of orthodoxy they DESERVE a whacking -- in fact more of a whacking than this pastor got. I've had heated words with priests who step out of the line of orthodoxy and that's what I believe we in the Apostolic Church must do -- if the priest sticks to orthodoxy, then obedience to God is called for. If the priest veers away, then a little whack is needed -- again, obedience to God.
