SEE THIS ATHEIST BLOGGER‘S STUNNING ANNOUNCEMENT THAT SHE’S CONVERTING TO CATHOLICISM

Atheist Leah Libresco Announces Conversion to Catholicism

Atheist blogger Leah Libresco shocked the secular community this week when she announced on her Patheos blog that she has converted to Christianity. Her article, entitled, “This is my last post for the Patheos Atheist Portal,” explained her conversion to Catholicism, which has sent shock-waves through the atheist blogosphere.

In her post, Libresco details her personal struggles with understanding the root of moral law. Obviously, non-believers don’t see morality as coming from a central source. Instead, they see humanity as living on its own, disconnected from any fertile source of knowledge and goodness. For Libresco, this ideal has come full-circle, as she inevitably arrived at an understanding that aligns with a Christ-centered world-view.

Debate after debate and discussion after discussion, the non-believing blogger details how she found herself constantly exploring this paradigm — that is, until she finally accepted the notion that truth and moral goodness come from God. She explains:

I believed that the Moral Law wasn’t just a Platonic truth, abstract and distant. It turns out I actually believed it was some kind of Person, as well as Truth. And there was one religion that seemed like the most promising way to reach back to that living Truth. I asked my friend what he suggest we do now, and we prayed the night office of the Liturgy of the Hours together (I’ve kept up with that since). Then I suggested hugs and playing Mumford and Sons really, really loudly.

the only thing i find ‘stunning’ is these other so-called ‘rational, logical’ atheist types dont follow suit.

the very idea of logic and rational thought are processes that only reflect the God that gave us those rules of logic and rational discourse.....

and that more peeps dont see that, is amazing....and ‘stunning’ if you will....

Many atheists today come from the Darwinist school. They believe in accident, not reason. They don’t believe in morality in the first place so they do not try to argue that it is possible to be moral without G-d.

“According to it, what is behind the universe is more like a mind than it is like anything else we know.....”

The moral law...hard to argue that man is a moral animal. CS Lewis covered it well in “Mere Christianity”. I’m glad for her.

Anne Rice made a big deal out of her conversion, but it didn't last long.

This is just another case of "Look at me! Look at me!"

I believe that Anne Rice also got wrapped up in the “gnostic gospels.” And one of her reasons for dropping out was that God didn’t do exactly what she prayed to Him to do.

Many in my generation are not very religious including myself(I'm mid 20's)-lot of atheism/agnostics...we all believe you can be moral without God. I have never run across people my age who don't believe in morality..most think the countries morals suck including myself.

morals of any kind in a supposed atheistic world view, make no sense.....folks that claim some sort of morals need to explain why they borrow that idea that is inherently NOT atheistic, but points to a higher authority....

Try C.S. Lewis’ “Mere Christianity.” In the first part of the book, Lewis reasons from the moral code, known by all people, to the divine Source of this Law. It’s very readable.

Most Atheists these days I have had the misfourtune of knowing have been the whole “Millitant Fundamentalist Atheist” types. These are the types that bring a lot of shame to the ones that call themselves Moderate. Atheists but are actually Agnostics.

Let’s just hope it is not like Larry Flint’s so-called “conversion” to Christianity about thirty years ago.

They think they can make a point stronger by piling on the f-bombs and ridicule.

Because those are the most militant.. the others-the 98% of us just want to live our lives and it's not worth the drama to bring it up to you...

I don’t think the point is whether you can be moral without God, at least relatively moral anyway. The point is where do morals originate. The Bible says that the Law (10 commandments) was written on our hearts so we have no excuse. See Romans 2:14-15. Take God out of the equation and I suppose morals developed by (non existent) macroevolution or perhaps the Big Bang caused them and they floated around space waiting for a worthy host and man finally fit the bill?

Maybe early man realized through reasoning that is was best to treat others as they wanted to be treated for the betterment of everyone. Humans have reasoning power...we have put men on the moon while animals have not...

I agree that many of the current generation believe they can be moral without God, but I’m curious. How do you define what moral is?
