People on Other Worlds

Long before our God began his creations, he dwelt on a mortal world like ours, one of the creations that his Father had created for him and his brethren. He, with many of his brethren, was obedient to the principles of the eternal gospel. One among these, it is presumed, was a savior for them, and through him they obtained a resurrection and an exaltation on an eternal, celestial world. 8 Then they gained the power and godhood of their Father and were made heirs of all that he had, continuing his works and creating worlds of their own for their own posterity—the same as their Father had done before, and his Father, and his Father, and on and on.

Pretending to reason when discussing religion is an interesting conceit, but that is all.

Is this a "reason"able statement?

If so, per your own religious standard, you're simply exercising "conceit."

(So why don't you take your self-confessed religious arrogance elsewhere?)

Don’t pretend to be an honest and rational party unless you discuss your own religion with that same standard.

Oh. Another 'enlightened' religious sentiment masquerading as a 'standard' of sorts.

Obviously it's one of those "this commandment is for thou' 'cause we don't see donmeaker discussing his own religion here.

So. 2-for-2 on self-refutations...hard to do in one post; but you managed.

That was metaphorical, but I won’t bother answering it.

There was no animosity behind my reply to you. I sincerely do hope you find the truth that is in Christianity - what you "haven't followed for some time" - because it IS there waiting to open up your life for all that your Creator made you.

Descartes said, “I doubt, therefore I think.” just before his more famous conclusion “I think, therefore I am.”

Mormonism is heretical compared to, say, Catholicism. Of course Catholicism is heretical compared to Judaism.

To sheep, other sheep are different.

Then may I suggest you stop holding others to a standard you're not willing to impose on yourself?

Of course Catholicism is heretical compared to Judaism.

But the Catholics do NOT run around claiming to be JEWS; do they. And the ONLY 'correct' Jews at that!

To sheep, other sheep are different.

To the Flock, wolves have crept in; claiming to be a sheep.

Matthew 7:15
"Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.

I think he’s trying to say that ALL religions have an element in them of irrationality; even his OWN - whatever that may be.

But; I'll bet that it is not 100% completely IRrational; either.

ALL religions have elements of rationality, or only irrational people would 'believe' them.

I seem to recall the expression “Completed Jew” used with reference to Christians.

Many Christians seem to think that their faith makes them more righteous than the Jews that keep the Torah.

Just sayin’.

Many Christians seem to think that their faith makes them more righteous than the Jews that keep the Torah.

How many is 'many'?

What percentage?

I would hope it to be 100%; but many (ha ha) folks have not chimed in on this.

However....

Galatians 3

1 You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. 2 I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard? 3 Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?4 Have you experienced so much in vain—if it really was in vain? 5 So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard? 6 So also Abraham “believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”
7 Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham. 8 Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.” 9 So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.

10 For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.” 11 Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because “the righteous will live by faith.” 12 The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, it says, “The person who does these things will live by them.” 13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.”14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.

Phillipians 3:7-9
But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith.
