You watch, Romney's campaign is going to throw allegations of religious bigotry at Christian conservatives like you can't believe.
Let me tell you something. The Romney people have some of the best political consultants in the country and they don't get there because they're always wonderful people. The RINO/GOPe are tough. They're very tough. We saw how they undermined Governor Palin during the last election, and the scorched earth policy they carried out against Romney's primary opponents who were conservative or Christian. I've worked with some of them on other campaigns, they're the best there is in the business. And there is nothing they won't do.
Already, Senator Hatch is accusing Christian conservatives of being Obama operatives.

The tiny fraction of the population of Americans that are Mormon isn’t even close to enough to win national elections on their own. Romney, and any future Republican Mormon running for national office, NEEDS the evangelical vote to even have a possibility of winning. There is zero chance Romney is going to attack Christians, Christianity, evangelicals, Catholics, etc. It’s just not going to happen.
I’ve come to the conclusion that what all this Mormon bashing and Mormon hysteria is about is simply that they dare call themselves Christian. That’s whats really stuck in some peoples craw. If Mormons called themselves something else many of the people wailing and moaning of the insidious danger of LDS would treat it as just another wrong religion and largely move on. This is all just because Mormons consider themselves Christian.

Referring to themselves as Christians is actually a new event, before several decades ago, they bristled at the thought of being referred to as such.

Romney does not need religious conservatives. He knows they will never vote for Obama, so he has no problem with their sitting on the sideline.

PS As a Christian, I understand that what Mormons believe is NOT Christianity. However, to launch a religious type of attack on Romney is counter-productive to defeating Obama and can make conservatives seem ignorant and/or bigoted. Leave the attack on religion with the liberals, who openly practice such.
Romney is just a politician. He might not have a moral objection to individual mandates, but would he ram it down America's throat against 70% opposition? No.
He might be skeered of guns, but would he shoot himself in the foot by trying to reinstitute the assault weapon ban? I doubt it. And I doubt he'd turn on the biggest base in the republican party, ie the Christians especially evangelicals.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not a Romney fan and I'll have to hold my nose to vote for him assuming he gets nominated. I'd love to vote for a true, moral, real conservative, but in the end I'd prefer just about anybody to the marxist in chief. Romney sucks, but Obama sucks a hell of a lot more.

No one wants obama, but there is a very real reason that romney will never be president.
Have you done any serious research on him and his background? When the truth comes out it will destroy his chances in an election amongst both convervatives and socialists alike.
When the left attacks romney, all they will need is the truth packed into hundreds of 30 second sound bytes.
And there will be nothing anyone can do to counter those truths, even with the crap obama has done, people will turn away from romney like the plague.
If the GOP runs romney this election is already over.

You raise a good point with regards to accusing conservatives of hate speech. My response is to look at the U.K. and Canada. Most of the attacks by government agencies accusing conservatives of hate speech have come from lefty activists appointed by CINO politicians.
For instance, Alberta is considered Canada’s most conservative province. The conservative party has ruled there for the past 30 years with huge majority governments. (Although that’s about to change in a couple weeks when the Tea Party-like Wildrose Alliance topples the RINO/GOPe-like Progressive Conservative Party).
However, when the party got taken over by CINOs acting like liberals, Christian pastor Stephen Boisson and Jewish conservative political commentator Ezra Levant found themselves hauled before the quasi-judicial Alberta Human Rights Commission - the former for criticizing same-sex marriage, and the latter for republishing Danish cartoons of Mohamed in a national conservative magazine. Both of these individuals were forced to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees to defend themselves against lefty government activists appointed by CINO politicians.
