BOSTON (BP) -- Last week, the student senate at Northeastern University, in Boston, voted to end negotiations to bring fast-food chain Chick-fil-A to campus after students protested over the company's affiliation with several Christian organizations the students say have an "anti-gay" agenda.
The Atlanta-based company, dogged for months by accusations of homophobia, insists it is "not anti-anybody" but instead simply wants to "graciously serve great food and have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A."
But students from at least 10 campuses aren't buying it. Incensed over the company's Christian values, they opposed new franchises and lobbied for the removal of existing restaurants on campuses across the country. Although the furor has generated a lot of media attention, prompting the company's president to publicly defend its philanthropic affiliations, it's not likely to hurt Chick-fil-A's bottom line. With about 1,540 restaurants in 38 states and annual sales figures topping $3 billion, the company still has plenty of fans.
At Northeastern, the student body eagerly embraced Chick-fil-A's proposal to become a vendor in the student center, until a small group of students complained about the organizations to which the company contributes through its WinShape Foundation. Led by Senior Taylor Cotter, a member of the school's' student senate who spent almost a year opposing the company's interest in coming to campus, the students circulated a petition and gathered 300 signatures -- about 1.5 percent of the student body. Despite the relatively small opposition, the school's student government quickly voted to end negotiations with the company.
School administrators supported the decision, saying the company's principles contradicted Northeastern's respect for diversity and support for the gay community: "We are proud of the decision that affirms our university's commitment to be an inclusive, diverse community that is respectful of all," college spokeswoman.........

agree.
Civil unions should have never been agreed to in the first place as it has helped to pass more laws for these people , so much so that they’;re a protected class whilst the majority of the country have become minorities with their rights.
A small group of students, yet again we have a few loons on the left dictating what should open, what should close who should fail etc and all the time shouting tolerance and diversity whilst missing the point in what they shout.
No doubt the MSM , oh wait we don’t have a media anymore we have the lefts propaganda, oh well no doubt the likes of Hannity, oh wait the phony cowardly Hannity won’t talk about conservative social issues
Ah well it’s left to sites like this to get the message out about how pathetic and dumb the loons on the left are.
“We are proud of the decision that affirms our university’s commitment to be an inclusive, diverse community that is respectful of all,”
They are extremely respectful of Chick-Fil-A and Mr. Kathy aren’t they?
‘All of this with a wholly manufactured, non-existent problem-Homophobia.’
I don’t think it is non existent, just extremely hyped. Same with racism or sexism etc. There are real cases of these things but it’s like the story of the boy who cried wolf. When you cry racism, sexism or homophobia for every thing that happens to you that you don’t like then nobody believes you when there is a real “wolf”.
Many on the left are not supporting gay rights as much as opposing Christianity, any way they can. today, by calling it anti-gay. Tomorrow, by pushing for multiculturalism to strengthen groups that are more anti-gay and anti-woman than any conservative ever has been.
To the boycott buffoons:
THEN
DON’T
EAT
THERE
1) Is it possible to order Chick-Fil-A by the pallet?
2) To what specific queer organizations should I send a copy of my receipt, with the addendum that my order is made in DIRECT response to their FagFacism attacks on a decent, moral business?
“I dont think it is non existent...”

Really!?
Just what exactly is homophobia, then?
does that mean then that there will be MORE for the rest of us? Good!!!
does that mean then that there will be MORE for the rest of us? Good!!!
So why didn't someone try to collect signatures from some of the other 98.5% of the students? Maybe then the college administration might have some ammo on their side if they wanted to allow Chick-fil-A, or the next group that the homosexual activists decide to target, to continue operating.
Chik-Fil-A provided food for the Maryland March For Life in Annapolis Md. Great job guys!
I would suggest some nicely phrased messages to them.

Remind them that their decision is quite bigotted against those who espouse a different view and that their lack of tolerance is quite apparent.
Why doesn’t this school teach free market principles? If you don’t like it don’t eat there.
Liberal wallow in misery and unhappiness and want to spread it to everyone else.
Because those students would have been surrounded by activists screaming that they were "homophobic", brand their signature-collecting to be a hate crime, and demanding the administration expel them and anybody who signed their petition.
Look at what happened to people who were listed as contributing to the Cal Prop 8(Defense of Marriage Act). They got hate mail, death threats, boycotts, firings, etc.
I was just by a Chick-fil-a on the far northside of Indy this afternoon.
The place was packed to the hilt. I might go back and get some more just to show my protest of the protest.
Homophobia by definition is irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuality or homosexuals . I have known people that were afraid to be in the same room with homosexuals. There are people that hate ALL homosexuals and there are people that will bully and physically abuse someone because they are a homosexual.
I don’t think that all crime against a homosexual is committed because they are homosexual but there is some.
Homophobia is NOT opposition to the lifestyle or political agenda of homosexuals. I oppose those things. However, I am not afraid of them nor do I hate them. I have two family members that are homosexual. I love them because they are family. They know how I feel about their lifestyle. I am not homophobic because I oppose the lifestyle.
Just because the left overuses a word like homophobia that does not mean that it doesn’t exist. The problem is allowing the left to define the terms and shape the argument.
Homophobes are those who have sexual intercourse with people of the same sex, who refer to themselves as "gay" because they cannot admit to themselves that they are indeed homosexuals.
What? Are you being sarcastic? I don’t understand your post.
Maybe by the pullet.
