A majority (55%) of Americans agree that employers should be required to provide their employees with health care plans that cover contraception and birth control at no cost. Four-in-ten (40%) disagree with this requirement.
(snip)
Roughly 6-in-10 Catholics (58%) believe that employers should be required to provide their employees with health care plans that cover contraception.
Among Catholic voters, support for this requirement is slightly lower at 52%.
Only half (50%) of white Catholics support this requirement, compared to 47% who oppose it.
Among other religious Americans, 61% of religiously unaffiliated Americans believe that employers should be required to provide their employees with health care plans that cover contraception, compared to only half (50%) of white mainline Protestants and less than 4-in-10 (38%) white evangelical Protestants.

He wouldn't be succeeding if your liberal/socialist friends didn't let him, nor if the Catholic church didn't put a stop to liberal socialist mentality when it started rearing it's ugly head.
Obama can only succeed in driving a wedge in the church if the church allows it.
They need to take a stand and a firm one at that to put a stop to it. Until and unless they get serious about dealing with the laity, they're complicit in their own demise. It will NOT go away on its own.
Interesting, my thinking is they believe that they won't lose any support from the 55% who voted for them the first time. You think they might actually gain support from RC's. I don't believe obama will ever get the votes of the conservative RC's.
Have you seen any out reach to compromise with Evangelical churches, hospitals, schools, or other organizations? I haven't, which indicates to me this issue is driven by political calculation. They know no mater what they do they will not win over a majority of Evangelical Christians. When they reach a "grand compromise" with the RCC we will see where they stand, will they refuse if it does not include all religious institutions or will they agree to their own exemption.
Or, alternatively, you and the media are using too loose a definition of the word "adherent."
What? A Catholic who attends mass on more than a weekly basis isn’t an adherent?
More than weekly? Was this allegedly a poll of daily communicants?
I’m telling you as I’ve told others many times. I personally know Catholics who go to church every time they get, are active in their parishes, who are active politically and they vote liberal by their own admission, even knowing full well where the dems stand on abortion.
And they’re told me themselves, to my face, that they’re as pro-life as they come BUT.......
-the government doesn’t have the right to tell people what to do with their personal lives....
-they like obamacare because they have relatives in MA who just LOVE Romneycare (two week old information)
-when asked why he (the Catholic person with whom I was talking) voted for democrats with their stand on abortion, I was told....”because the democrats are for the poor” (direct quote and reason given)
I have met FAR fewer practicing Catholics, (active in their parishes and attending church more than once a week when the opportunity presents itself) who are conservative than liberal.
Catholics can whine all they want about how those are not *real* Catholics or whatever, but they are absolutely practing and adamnetly so. They take their Catholicsm very seriously and take offense at the suggestion that they are not faithful because of their political views.
I keep telling the FRoman Catholics on this board that there’s a BIG difference between the ideal Catholic and reality. Reality is liberal Catholics outnumber conservative ones by a significant margin.
Here's another:
"Those who go up against God's own will surely lose."
Genesis 15: 18 That day ADONAI made a covenant with Avram: "I have given this land to your descendants - from the Vadi of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates River -
Genesis 12: 3 "I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse.
Oh look. It must be some more CINO's?
CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES ACTION ALERT
Contact President Obama: Press for two-state peace agreement.
What do you want me to do?
Contact President Obama now and urge him to restart negotiations with Israeli and Palestinian leaders based on key principles and ideas addressed in other peace negotiations:
Creation of a Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza, based on the 1967 borders with possible limited land swaps as mutually agreed.
A fair negotiated resolution of the refugee issues that does not threaten the demography of Israel.
The sharing of Jerusalem by Israel and the Palestinian state as their capitals.
Israeli withdrawal from the Golan Heights.

Here's a "good" Catholic munching down on the Body of Christ:
It’s a wonder that he doesn’t react like that guy in Raiders of the Lost Ark who drank out of the wrong chalice.
Then again, maybe not.....
“I know practicing Catholics who go to church every chance they get, certainly more than once a week, who still vote Dem because the “democrats are for the poor”, and “I’m as prop-life as anybody but the government doesn’t have the right to tell people what to do with their bodies.” and “I like obamacare”.
Anecdotal evidence is not set in stone, but in real life, I’ve only met a handful of practicing Catholics who are conservative. My personal encounters verify those stats.”
LOL. Your anecdotal evidence is no more set in stone than mine. I won’t argue with your personal experience; by the same token, you can’t argue with mine which supports my statement. :)
What it serves to show is how many Democrats are in lock step with the communist goals that has so exposed the party. We are at a crossroad in this country and the communists (and that is what they are) are running with the ball. The question is whether they will score the touch down they hope for or whether they will be benched.
I'm not debating your personal experience. However, those whom you suggest polling would include those who I referred to, because those whom I'm quoting would fit in the criteria for your poll.
They DO attend weekly and more as work or health allows. They do know the CCC and some I know for a fact are better versed in Scripture than some of the FRoman Catholics on board here.
Based on real life encounters with practicing Catholics, who attend weekly, know the CCC and Scripture, I suspect the results would not likely be as radically different as you expect.
You need a new perspective on who and what the Catholic Church is.
The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops is NOT “the Catholic Church”!
Surprise!
The USCCB supports a lot of liberal nonsense that the Vatican will have no part of.
Learn the Catechism, read what the Vatican teaches. Learn who the liberals are and ignore them.
The USCCB seems to believe the government is just another charity and its wonderful if it destroys personal motivation via socialist programs.
All active and retired bishops in the United States and the Territory of the U.S. Virgin Islands diocesan, coadjutor, and auxiliary are members of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops USCCB.
