Two of Buffalo's most venerable mainline Protestant churches are in discussions to share space, staff and ministries -- with one of the congregations possibly selling off its buildings and moving into the landmark structure of the other congregation.
Leadership of Trinity Episcopal Church on Delaware Avenue revealed the surprising proposal, which also involves First Presbyterian Church, in a letter this past weekend to Trinity church members.
The proposal calls for First Presbyterian, the city's first congregation, dating from before the War of 1812, to sell its buildings on Symphony Circle and move to the Delaware campus of Trinity, which was formed in 1836.
...First Presbyterian would hold on to its roughly $3 million endowment, while Trinity would retain ownership of its buildings, which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Leaders of First Presbyterian first approached Trinity about a year ago, and teams from both congregations have been meeting regularly to discuss what an arrangement might look like.
"We've been talking about it as dating," said the Rev. R. Cameron Miller, rector of Trinity.
Uniting of the two churches could be a sign of things to come across Western New York, Miller said.
"It would be a great leadership model for other churches in the community," he said.

I do not know anything about the Presbys, but the Episcopal
Church (ECUSA) has been going down the drain ever since the gays and far left started taking over some 15-20 years ago.
I was a senior warden of one EC in Tennessee back in the 80s.
Many Episcopalians have fled to traditional Anglican churches,
or started new churches, not beholden to the UCUSA.
Two sick men do not together make one healthy man.
Well, since they really don’t believe anything anyway, why not? Might as well throw in with the UUer’s too.
One stop shopping for the gay marriage crowd.
Two dying churches. No truth = no future.
It is a case of the social gospel which is no gospel at all going down. Tis also a case of misery loving company and both those denominations are in misery because they refuse to espoused the real gospel and our dying on the vine or being cut off as it talks about in John 15. Having been raised in a social gospel Presbyterian church til adulthood I know where I speak from. I thank Jesus for introducing to the true gospel message at 19 giving me the opportunity to walk in it.
the PCUSA and ECUSA dating?
Nope. Just these two congregations.
Moving in with the neighbors is always a great sign of success.

Brilliant! Thank you.
These churches rejected the Bible so they are no more than Marxist social and political clubs at this point. It should be easy to fall in the sack together.
