Last Temptation of Castro: Get Religion [To be Received Back into Church During Papal Visit]
Cranmer ^ | 2/4/12

Posted on 02/05/2012 2:58:27 PM PST by marshmallow

Fidel Castro will be received back into the communion of the Roman Catholic Church during Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to the island in March, the Italian press is reporting. If true, this is a remarkable story — and one that has yet to catch the attention of editors this side of the Atlantic.

On 1 Feb 2012, La Republicca — [Italy’s second largest circulation daily newspaper, La Republicca follows a center-left political line and is strongly anti-clerical; not anti-Catholic per se but a critic of the institutional church] — reported that as death approaches, the octogenarian communist has turned to God for solace.

ABC’s Global Note news blog is the only U.S. general interest publication I have found that has reported this story. It referenced the La Republicca story and said that Castro’s

daughter Alina is quoted as saying “During this last period, Fidel has come closer to religion: he has rediscovered Jesus at the end of his life. It doesn’t surprise me because dad was raised by Jesuits.” The article quotes an unidentified high prelate in the Vatican who is working on the Pope’s Cuba trip: “Fidel is at the end of his strength. Nearly at the end of his life. His exhortations in the party paper Granma, are increasingly less frequent. We know that in this last period he has come closer to religion and God.”

Some Italian websites have even speculated as to when Fidel will make his confession and credo — setting the date as 27 March 2012 at 17:30 when the two ottantacinquenni, Pope Benedict XVI and Castro, will meet at the Palacio de la Revolución when the pope makes his official visit to the head of state, Raul Castro.

During Pope John Paul II’s 1998 visit to Cuba, Castro attended mass, but did...........

And we understand that anti-Catholics have a difficult time recognizing the difference since they follow the doctrines of men but it is scripture non the less. That you and your wack-a-doodle sect of one cannot see the Truth in Scripture, that is truly your problem. We will pray for you, we will asks that the Saints in Heaven pray for you and even that the Mother of God pray for you. Have hope, miracles happen.

“So the only thing that you point to that you think that you are doing for God that you don’t do for Mary is the worshiping of the bread and wine as God Himself?”

You assume much, why? Where do you get to the leap that you did in this odd claim you make?

...that’s what I’m doing...

What you're doing is joining atheists, radical secularists, Islam, most of the governments of Europe and the Obama administration is declaring yourself an enemy of the Church.

And as enemies go, your an infinitesimally small fry. Your only significance is your absence.

The advantage of being your own Pope, sole arbiter and only decision maker, is that you can ignore, rewrite or even excise entire passages from Holy Scripture. Probably not something God approves of, but it can be vastly profitable (for a time) in this life.

"Too much God in the service..."

My goodness how these people have not only missed the boat, but are completely infatuated with themselves.

I went to a funeral a few years ago of a friend of mine, who's mom had passed away. (Hard core dems...) I thought there was not enough God in that funeral service and too much politics. Amazing!

simply pointed out that it was scripture that condemned the practice not me.

Da Vinci in scripture? No that interpretation all you.

That's the point here. You claim to know scripture and your interpretation of it results in this kind of nonsense. This examination reveals how little your views of scripture are worth.

No way was I or am I backing away from it

Funny you seemed to be trying to, weren't you objecting when I posted that according to you Da Vinci and Michelangelo were idol makers and visitors to the Sistine Chapel are idolaters?

Catholics have a difficult time recognizing the difference

The difference between Da Vinci's "Last Supper" and an idol? No, not difficult at all for Catholics.

How about you? Do you know the difference - yet?

>>Have you rejected the second chapter of Luke?<<

Have you rejected the fact that as totally human he was subject to His parents but as God He is not?

Scripture is a tool for the antiCatholic. It is a collection of nutdrivers or rivet sets. Today, I will use this one; tomorrow I will use that one. They do not look at Scripture as the word of God since God does not appear in their mirrors. However, it is very important that they claim it. Name it and claim it. Blab it and grab it.

They use it alternatively as a justification for their beliefs du jour, or as a club to strike out with against those who don't happen to share the beliefs du jour.

Yup. The devil uses versions of scripture too. The KJV is a tool of the devil

Yo! Gamecock. Over here......

God SUBJECTS HIMSELF to the Blessed Virgin, because it is His Most Holy Will to do so. No one can subject God to anything/anyone. Herein lies the difference.

LBR: Just for the record, do you have a Scripture reference for that?

“Some deny that Christ was indeed God and some elevate a woman to the extent they insist God is subjected to her. Both cults that need to be exposed as the apostates they are.”

At first I thought you were talking about Catholics. But I soon knew it wasn’t so when I read that those cultists you talk about insist that God is subject to her.

I don’t know what group that is but I am so glad that you weren’t talking about us.

Those are mighty big words coming from someone whose claim to fame is defending the indefensible. But pawns get satisfaction so easily. Even the “infinitesimally small fry” wafer and wine demi-devotees. With glazed eyes and palpitating hearts they open their mouths to receive their “god”. And shake with anticipation of doing it all over again, tomorrow.

Romans 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

I’ll stand by God’s word. Try to change the glory of God into the image of a man and scripture says what it says.

That's as ludicrous as the Protestants that Catholics like to make fun of for saying that Scripture was originally inspired in KJ English.

Surely you can do better than that.

"He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition." -Mark 7:6-9

Matthew 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven,

No praying to Mary or Saints there.

When therefore we read in the writings of Saint Bernard, Saint Bernardine, Saint Bonaventure, and others that all in heaven and on earth, even God himself, is subject to the Blessed Virgin, they mean that the authority which God was pleased to give her is so great that she seems to have the same power as God. Her prayers and requests are so powerful with him that he accepts them as commands in the sense that he never resists his dear mother’s prayer because it is always humble and conformed to his will.... St. Louis de Montfort, in Treatise on True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin, #27, 246.

“First and foremost, I worship God by participating in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. This is not done for Mary.
I was afraid of that. So the only thing that you point to that you think that you are doing for God that you don’t do for Mary is the worshiping of the bread and wine as God Himself? Do you have a personal and living relationship with the risen Savoir, Jesus Christ, Himself, beyond thinking that He is in a piece of bread a bit of wine? Can you pray or talk to Him and know His presence and does He personally commune with you?”

It is so very obvious when we encounter a pagan. One who does not believe that Christ is God and that as God he can become whatever He wants to be.

There is no more personal relationship with Christ than to receive Him: Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in the Eucharist.

I am so sorry for you that you have no idea how much He loves us. He died for us and feeds us.

We will all face judgement and I certainly pray that He will be merciful to you as you have slandered Him and made fun of Him and denigrated Him.

May God have mercy on your soul and on the souls of the rest of the unbelievers here who care not for His truth.
