Obama's erroneous interpretation of Luke 12:48, which drew a rebuke from Sen. Orrin Hatch (over the invoking of the scripture not the interpretation of it) now opens up the door for ALL elected officials to talk about Jesus and how His words apply to political positions or policies on a host of issues, be it tax policy, marriage, the sanctity of life, abortion etc. while some already have done this...
You see, others have talked about "God" and "my faith dictates that I do this or that" but never has anyone went so far as to invoke Jesus' name in connection with a political position, at such a high level, and from a Democrat no less. This opens the way like never before to cite Obama as an example.
People erroneously think that God or Christianity has been driven out of the public square. They have. But more than anything, it has been Jesus Christ who has been driven from the public square.
Hence, why I have no problem with Obama invoking Jesus. The more Jesus, the better.
Thanks, Obama, for opening up the biggest can of worms yet in this area. Others have opened up cans, but not quite this big, because this has received such enormous attention. And a can opening from a liberal Dem no less.
What say you?
Egad! Now the stupid, self-centered politicians and the agenda driven media will start yacking that 0bama is the Tim Tebow of politics.
I may take a knee and hurl.
I disagree. Everyone in the Ruling Class knows Obama was insincere when he did that. So to the Ruling Class, his invocation of Jesus is not scary—it’s just something you have to do periodically to con the rubes. Insincere invocations of Jesus name are normally praised in the Old Media.
When the rubes invoke Jesus, it is scary to the Ruling Class because the rubes actually mean it. These kind of invocations are invariably followed by Old Media articles about Haggard, snake handling by people with no teeth, guys with tattoos and scary looking guns with crosses etched on the muzzles, and the three Christian Dominionists in the country.
So now, besides Democrats putting words in Jesus's mouth and asserting that He would condone forcing - under threat of imprisonment - rich people to pay higher taxes, in order to finance government-funded abortions, we can also look forward to hearing Conservatives speculating on the stance which the Christ would take on, e.g., trade tariffs, agricultural subsidies, and health care.
Regards,
“And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.”
KJV, Matthew 6:5
Oh. You mean like “civility” in public discourse.
Get wise. Liberals can mention Christ and use Him for their own purposes. Conservatives are evil theocrats when they do so.
Liberals can call conservatives racists, evil-right wingers, haters of the poor and colored, even running dogs of capitalism. Conservatives cannot even call liberals liberals if polls show this is a bad thing for liberals.
This is the way it has always been, and it isn’t going to change.
Jesus said that what he told His disciples in secret they were to speak openly about.
Jesus: “Do men light a candle and put it under a bushel?”
“No, so let your light shine before all men.”
What about Shiva or Vishnu, or Buddha, or...
Do they get bleeped?
I wonder.
Talk about an attitude of defeat.
All it takes is pushing back.
And then saying in retort to them “How dare you call Obama an evil theocrat.”
(All from the man who gave 'how much' in 'charitable contributions' on his tax return? One percent?)
OTOH; the 'confiscation'; the taking of goods/money from another; is STEALING and the class warfare Obama engenders is no more than creating a 'coveting' of neighbors goods, as well.
No doubt; the 'lie'o'meter' starts to hum; when Obama places himself in same sentence with 'Christian'.
Could be some great Repub ads off this asinine political sermonizing; but we can rest assured; there will not be.
“Defeatist”? Realistic, you mean.
I have nothing against push-back, though. And it drives liberals bat crazy when you point out their hypocrisy using their own words.
Still, you never address the point that Obama is not a hypocritical preacher nevertheless preaching the true Gospes, but a false prophet preaching a flase gospel. This is what almost everyone commenting is trying to tell you, and you just don’t seem to get it.
The little messiah is a blasphemer .
In Luke 12 HE was speaking to his Disciples “ first of all “
HE was speaking specifically to Peter in verse 48 and to his Disciples in general. In FULL CONTEXT HE was stating the burden and responsibilities of direct followers,47” And that servant ( Christian),which knew his Lords` will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to His will, shall be beaten with many stripes.” versus those that know not , 48 “ But he that knew not,and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given ( Christ`s words/Faith),of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask more.”
CLEARLY CHRIST IS SPEAKING OF BELIEVERS AND FAITH, NOT TAXES, COVETING, STEALING AND MONEY.
