Protestant and orthodox Jewish leaders join in opposition to HHS contraceptive mandate.
Today, more than 40 non-Catholic religious organizations including Protestant-affiliated colleges, National Association of Evangelicals, Focus on the Family, Assemblies of God, Northwest Nazarene University, and Eastern Mennonite University, sent a letter to the White House demanding religious protection against the newly issued HHS contraceptive mandate.
We write not in opposition to Catholic leaders and organizations. We write in solidarity. Says the coalition letter. Leaders of other faiths are also deeply troubled by and opposed to the mandate and the narrow exemption.
In a letter sent December 21, 2011, the group expressed deep concern about the contraceptive provision in the Health and Human Services mandates, which includes the most narrow religious employer qualifications excluding protection of most-faith based organizations.
We are all deeply concerned about the narrow exemption, including proposals made to expand it while still leaving unprotected many faith-based organizations. The letter continues, We believe that the Federal government is obligated by the First Amendment to accommodate the religious convictions of faith-based organizations of all kinds, Catholic and non-Catholic.
The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty currently represents Belmont Abbey College, a private Catholic College, and Colorado Christian University, a non-denominational Christian University, in the first lawsuits against this unprecedented mandate.
The regime's insolent and arrogant attack on religious freedom represents a threat that transcends any religious boundary.

It should be near the top.
Sometimes the evil is within. Look at Pelosi saying she stands with the president and not with the church.
dangus, where is that posting about the Declaration and Aquinas/Bellarmine? Do you have a link?
I’m opposed to any of us good guys hanging, at all. If we stay united, it’s gonna be the other guys who are going to swing - out of office, out of a job, out of the pork-trough, out of cronyism, out of corruption (at least on the federal level), and hopefully (thank you Col. West), “OUT OF OUR COUNTRY”.

Ok, I see it’s been posted already.
good vs evil...
To have Christians and Jews standing together, Catholic, Protestants Jews would be making Jesus happy that so many of His and His Fathers are of one mind...and I’ll bet that also includes many Orthodox Christians of all denominations...:O)
Can you clarify what quarters you are talking about, so we can know if you are even accusing us Freeper evangelicals? Innuendo is a bit hard to address. For my part, I must assert that having areas of theological disagreement isn’t “bigotry.”
Obama’s most apparent dispute is with Roman Catholics, but he’s got all Judeo-Christian faiths in his sights. It’s unclear to me yet what place Muslims have in this contest.
It isn’t simply good vs evil. It’s quite literally life vs death.
Placemark for tomorrow pingout.
Which are “His” and which are “His Father’s”?
Comity towards Jewish congregations is nothing new in America, if unenlightened and bizarre criticisms of same are also of ancient standing. George Washington himself affirmed that Jews should be afforded the freedom to live in peace following their Old Testament beliefs in the new country.
muslims vs Crusaders. Guess where owebama falls down.
That’s a subject pregnant for a lot of dispute (no pun intended). Disagreements in Christendom are stark over this, but at least some aver that many Jewish people have not yet reached the understanding of the Christ needed to make a genuine acceptance (or rejection) but that when they do, they will accept. Those people though living today would be in the position of the Old Testament saints. Others hold a more pessimistic view. Whatever the case, Christians preach the gospel to all men without discrimination.
They all know they are all targets...its like the old hang together or we will hang apart..
I am happy to see it...definitely unconstitutional, as the recent supreme court decision.....Part of that decision was if the state stepped in they were in fact making a state religion if they could dictate who the church could or could not fire..This situation I think will broaden even that decision in favor of the churches.. They cannot dictate what a church can or cannot do... Religious freedom is precious to all...
