The new document -- formulated as five questions and answers -- restates key sections of a 2000 text the pope wrote when he was prefect of the congregation, "Dominus Iesus," which riled Protestant, Lutheran and other Christian denominations because it said they were not true churches but merely ecclesial communities and therefore did not have the "means of salvation."

Sorry guys.the pope says we are out... so much for “cant we all get along” huh?
(teehee)
News at 11 - denominations without apostolic succession lack apostolic succession.
Colossians 1:18: And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
Any believer that has the faith of Christ is saved eternally from the precise moment of salvation unto eternal life. God knows His Church which includes all the churches of the saints:
I Corinthians 14:33: For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
God and Paul calls every faithful believer a saint:
Ephesians 1:1: Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
Ephesians 1:15: Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints
Ephesians 2:19: Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God
Ephesians 4:12: For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ
Romans 8:31: What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
Romans 8:32: He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
Romans 8:33: Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
Romans 8:34: Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
Romans 8:35: Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Romans 8:36: As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
Romans 8:37: Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Romans 8:38: For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Romans 8:39: Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Rome cannot separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord, those words of the Pope are empty in the eyes of God that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
Non-Catholics who employ logic should not feel offended by these comments. It is not possible for there to be more than one church professing true doctrine if the other churches profess conflicting doctrines. There is, at most, only one doctrine that can be true. Am I missing something?
Of course, a non-Catholic could argue that only his church professes the true doctrine. Such a person could hardly feel offended by those who say the same thing about the Catholic church.
Saved by grace through faith. And no amount of man-made works or rituals can do that.
Get angry at Fox News, not Pope Benedict. He said they were “EITHER” not true churches, or defective.
Yes, the Pope believes that there are defects in Protestant churches. How could anyone be surprised that? Isn’t that like finding out that bears sh—, uh, don’t use latrines in the woods? If the Pope were to discover that Protestant churches WERE NOT defective, why not become Protestant?
Source for these comments, please.
Let’s see....Idolatry,Worshipping man chosen “saints”, Mary, Papal infallibility, Priestly intercession/Indulgences, Rosary, Purgatory, “Tradition” superseding/supplanting the Bible, Baptism (sprinkling as opposed to immersion, infants as opposed to those who are capable of hearing and knowing the truth.)
Sound a lot like a Religion of manmade traditions and NOT the one true church. Methinks those in glass houses shouldn’t be throwing stones.
IAKJR (In AFTER Knee Jerk Reactions!)
Romans 8:38: For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Romans 8:39: Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The ministry of reconciliation and justification is the heart of Paul's gospel, and this Ministry of Reconciliation is for us believer-saints and sons of God is a most priceless gift - and a much more noble responsibility than simply performing as an Old Testament priest or anyone who tries to copy this Jewish priesthood. This present glory - reconciliation and justification and ambassadorship - is much more glorious. We are no longer priests, but saints and Ambassadors, and this is far more glorious than the priesthood:
II Corinthians 3:9: For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory. II Corinthians 3:10: For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth. II Corinthians 3:11: For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious.
ANY ONE who believes the above Bible truth will be guaranteed eternal salvation with the Lord Jesus Christ, and no man or earthly leader can separate us from the love of God who give us these things freely.
It’s only because the Pope and his group are a defective, fake church. They splintered off the true Church, the Eastern Orthodox Church.
Sorry guys.the pope says we are out ...
Again, where does he say that?
Rome cannot separate us from the love of God,
Could you please show where in the documents to which this article refers "Rome" claims it can or does or wants to separate you from the love of God?
“The other communities “cannot be called ‘churches’ in the proper sense” because they do not have apostolic succession — the ability to trace their bishops back to Christ’s original apostles — and therefore their priestly ordinations are not valid, it said.”
I hate to break it to some folks, but my church doesn’t HAVE priests, other than the priesthood of the believer.
Why? Because there were no priests in the New Testament, other than Jewish priests, or Jesus Christ Himself. And there is no perpetual sacrifice going on, because:
11 Every [Jewish] priest stands daily ministering and offering time after time the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins; 12 but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, SAT DOWN AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD, 13 waiting from that time onward UNTIL HIS ENEMIES BE MADE A FOOTSTOOL FOR HIS FEET. 14 For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. 15 And the Holy Spirit also testifies to us; for after saying,
16 THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THEM
AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD:
I WILL PUT MY LAWS UPON THEIR HEART,
AND ON THEIR MIND I WILL WRITE THEM,
He then says,
17 AND THEIR SINS AND THEIR LAWLESS DEEDS
I WILL REMEMBER NO MORE.
18 Now where there is forgiveness of these things, there is no longer any offering for sin. — Heb 10
Given the number of evil, godless men who have been Pope, it is kind of tough to believe that “apostolic succession’ means diddly squat to God.
“15 Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheeps clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? 17 So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 So then, you will know them by their fruits.
21 Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. 22 Many will say to Me on that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles? 23 And then I will declare to them, I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.” - Jesus Christ, Matt 7
Definition:
Cult: WE are the only ones saved.
Occult: We are the only ones with the secret information.
Christianity: Follower of Christ, not men
It’s not even a war here now, it’s blitzkrieg! The Pope oughta just surrender to the one (usually ungrammatical) sentence prottie theologians.
“FIFTH QUESTION
Why do the texts of the Council and those of the Magisterium since the Council not use the title of Church with regard to those Christian Communities born out of the Reformation of the sixteenth century?
RESPONSE
According to Catholic doctrine, these Communities do not enjoy apostolic succession in the sacrament of Orders, and are, therefore, deprived of a constitutive element of the Church. These ecclesial Communities which, specifically because of the absence of the sacramental priesthood, have not preserved the genuine and integral substance of the Eucharistic Mystery[19] cannot, according to Catholic doctrine, be called Churches in the proper sense[20].”
“the absence of the sacramental priesthood”
Priests bringing man to God via sacraments, versus:
But this man, after offering one sacrifice for sins for ever, took his seat at Gods right hand, from that time offering no more sacrifice, but waiting until his enemies be made his footstool. For by virtue of that one offering he has perfected for all time every one whom he makes holy. The Holy Spirit himself endorses this truth for us, when he says, first: This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them.
17 And then, he adds, Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.
18 Where God grants remission of sin there can be no question of making further atonement.”
Or as put in Matthew:
“But Jesus gave one more great cry, and died. And the sanctuary curtain in the Temple was torn in two from top to bottom.”
I guess I will have to go buy an indulgence.
