I agree with this. Once they’ve established themselves as Christian, there’s no point in trying to “out-church” each other. It’s a waste of time and cheapens the way they seem to view their religion. Now, its time to show us what they plan to do for the country. Not Iowa. Not New Hampshire. Not even SC. But the whole country. I’d love to hear a good idea from one of them that might work and not just typical political pandering that promises to give to one group by taking from another.

Dang, an Evangelical who has “spiritual convictions” but, yet, at the same time makes “political sense”. Great article.

Very tender pastoral letter. I need to read articles like this to firm up my support for Newt.

....."All of the candidates believe in Christ,....."

One might say yes but what do they believe about Christ and while we are not "voting for a pastor" or other, merely having a President who claims to be of the same faith as most of us, has shown us to be an abomination and an effrontery to all believers.

Obama does "believe in Christ" but what he believes is a world apart from evangelicals and we are paying a very heavy price for his "faith."

I hate to rain on your parade but Rick Perry’s pastor (who claims to represent Southern Baptists and evangelicals everywhere) has already condemned all Catholics to hell with all us Mormons.

It’s way too late to try to squeeze your way out of this tight spot.

The word “hypocrite” is way too polite.

Wow, yet ANOTHER article on FR about Newt going after the Evangelical vote. Are we up to two dozen yet? There's virtually the same amount of Catholic voters in Iowa as evangelical protestants, but I have yet to see a single article pitching the newly "Catholic" Newt Gingrich to his "fellow Catholics".

Obviously he's AUTOMATICALLY entitled to our votes, right?

Here's my prediction: Perry wins Iowa.

Remember, you heard it here first. Hopefully, it will shut up the "Newt is the only person who can stop Romney" crowd.

I’m still quite skeptical that Gingrich is anything other than a globalist shill.

Seems to me his whole political career has demonstrated that he plays by the big boys’ rules.

. . . twitches the ‘correct’ direction whenever they jerk his puppet strings.

From the article which quotes this from the Gingrich website: "The rejection of judicial supremacy and the reestablishment of a constitutional balance of power among the legislative, executive, and judicial branches will be an intense and difficult undertaking. It is unavoidable if we are going to retain American freedoms and American identity.

Newt is the only one who understands that unless we do what is said in the simple sentences above we're doomed to losing this country as it has been organized since it was founded. Unless we have the Federal government reduced to no more than the level of mandates and control that existed prior to LBJ within one, maybe two, Presidential election cycles, this country will come apart. And don't kid yourself, nothing that comes about under those circumstances will be anywhere nearly as good as the nation we'd be losing even if it were to begin with a nearly identical Constitution. Not by a long shot.

What is important is what they will do in office

Which is precisely the evangelical problem WITH Gingrich. We don't know. Matthew 7:20 says "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them", but what are those fruits? Are they of the brash young architect of the Contract with America or are they of the going-soft, individual-mandate, self-described Wilsonian of today?

Are they of the smartest man in the room or are they of the serial adulterer whose judgment is therefore called into question even if God has forgiven that sin? We don't know, and a lot of us aren't buying as a result.
