“You probably do a lot of your Christmas shopping at Lifeway, a favorite among American Christian bookstores.”
Not anymore if Lifeway is playing the middle man in funneling cash to the Planned Parenthood Abortion mill.
I wonder if is one of the ‘gender neutral’ bibles.
>>Its baffling to me how such a large company could have missed the memo about Komen
They didn’t miss the memo. Komen is a shake-down operation. When they come to your business with “an offer you can’t refuse”, you put on the pink and do what they tell you or they rally their army of women (womyn??)to denounce you as being in favor of mothers, wives, and sisters dying of breast cancer. Even Lifeway can’t stand up to millions of unreasonable, over-emotional women. No one dares stand in the way of the Komen Machine.
“The Here’s Hope Breast Cancer Bible is a reminder that God has not forgotten you....”
Nor has he forgotten the unborn or those who kill them.
The new god. More tolerant, culturally diverse, and he doesn’t care what you do as long as you’re not a Republican.
Great way to curse yourself with breast cancer and defile the Word of God at the same time, yes?
Even though I have relatives who suffer from breast cancer, and some who have died from it, I never gave money to this organization. I always had a bad feeling about them, like I always had a bad feeling about Sesame Street, even when I was a liberal. I never liked it. Ever. But I could never tell you why, just that it gave me the creeps.
This breast cancer organization always gave me the creeps.
Now I know why.
On the bright side...
Maybe this will be move that finally shines the spotlight on SBK and their Planned Parenthood connection.
Lifeway is connected with the Southern Baptist Convention (or was at one time). How many Souther Baptists are going to sit by while their money goes to support abortion?

How many breast cancer screenings does Planned Parenthood provide with the money from Komen? If memory serves, that number is zero.
There are other organizations that collect money for breast cancer research and treatment. I haven’t researched them, but I’d like to see some recommendations from other FReepers. There are also cancer treatment centers and hospitals that you can donate to directly.
It wouldn’t matter if PP did a million.
The point is, when you give money to PP for non-abortion services (in this case, breast cancer awareness) it frees up money that can be used for abortion services (PP’s primary mission).
It’s the old story that all money is fungable. This is why you should never give money to an organization that does things you disagree with, even if the money you give is targeted to a “good cause”.
I agree. I think that point was made in the original article. I thought it was important to add that the money Komen gives to Planned Parenthood does not go toward breast cancer research, diagnosis or treatment. The entire donation goes straight to abortions. I think that makes the whole situation that much worse. It would be bad enough if Komen was giving money to PP for breast cancer prevention, diagnosis or treatment; but it’s even worse that they’re donating money exclusively for abortions.
Four tweets I just sent:
18 affiliates of the Komen for the Cure [of breast cancer] foundation gave >$569,000 to the abortionists Planned Parenthood in 2010.
In 2009, it was 20 (of their 122) affiliates and $731,303. I thought their donations were supposed to save lives, not take them.
"Komen spokesman confirmed last year that Komen affiliates contributed about $3.3 million to the abortion business from 2004-2009."
Since abortion has been linked to breast cancer, donations to Komen could bring more harm than good: leading to 2 possible deaths.
