Gay Episcopal Bishop to Preach at San Francisco Catholic Parish
Catholic Culture ^ | 11/22/11

A notoriously 'gay-friendly' parish in San Francisco has invited an openly homosexual Episcopalian cleric to lead an Advent Vespers service.

Most Holy Redeemer parish asked Bishop Otis Charles, a retired Episcopalian prelate, to lead the November 30 service. After serving as the Bishop of Utah from 1971 to 1993, he publicly announced that he is homosexual. Divorced from the mother of his 5 children, he solemnized a same-sex union in 2004.

Please let me know when you find evidence of such folks

1. BOWING DOWN to such

2. PRAYING toward such

The WORD OF GOD IS STILL THE WORD OF GOD. Y'all rebell against it at your own peril.

Exodus 20:4-6 4 "You shall NOT make for yourself
a carved image,
or any likeness
of anything
that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5 You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, 6but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.

The Divinity of Christ contradicts the unity of the Godhead according to the Jews. Nor is it explicit in scripture.

Maybe the Jehovah’s Witnesses have a point, don’t you think?

If you knew Scripture you would know John 14:9:

"9 Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'?"

Pretty explicit if you ask me. And straight from the mouth of Jesus.

If you're going to try to be snarky, at least be accurate.

If Christ is still hanging on the Cross, it can be taught that He is suffering still, and that God's wrath can be poured out on those who do not follow the teachings of the RCC.

Once He is risen, it is proof that His sacrifice was accepted, the atonement has been made, paid in full, and God's requirement for a sin offering has been satisfied for all time. The Proof is that He raised Christ from the dead. If the penalty for sin had not been paid IN FULL by Christ's death for us, then God could not have raised Him. If there was even one sin that had not been paid for, Christ would still be hanging on the Cross.

Which is exactly where the RCC still has Him. Because they do not teach/believe that sin was paid for IN FULL. Keep Him a victim, and the "faithful" will continue to "suffer" with Him, hoping to satisfy God's need for justice. Work, work, work.

I don’t stand in judgement of other people’s souls. Nor do I run around saying that Protestants are going to hell because that’s God’s call.

Oh REALLY

rzman21: "You aren’t a Christian."

Are you now saying that these aren't your words?

Better go check and find out who hijacked your account then.

Bearing false witness is bearing false witness. Better go check that beam in your eye.

Commemorating Jesus’ sacrifice is tantamount to disbelieving or minimizing His resurrection? It seems that you, by your complaints, are minimizing His sacrifice. What is your hang-up with Christ crucified?

Maybe the Vatican Ashteroth-Mary-Goddess figure takes control of their fingers and makes them type such.

However, Hagee-ites would likely feel that way because they do not believe Jesus died as the Christ

More like catholics (mosquito bites) don't believe HE IS RISEN! It is FINISHED! Take HIM OFF the Cross.

>> What is your hang-up with Christ crucified?<<

Christ also arose from the dead. He is no longer on that cross nor is he dead. He concurred not only death but arose to sit at the right hand of the Father.

That’s just your private interpretation.

I didn't see any private interpretation...And neither did you...

Your reinterpretation of historical Christian symbolism is astonishing. No artistic representation of Jesus puts Him anywhere because the portrayal of a person is distinct from the person portrayed. Do you also hold it is wrong to portray Christ's birth because Jesus is now grown up?

The Church celebrates the Resurrection as the holiest day of the year and teaches that the God-Man Jesus was glorified and ascended to heaven. The faith-alone / faith-and-works debate is a separate issue.

How many statues and pictures do you have in your church that depict the risen Lord which happened 2000 years ago, compared to the statues of Jesus' earthly mother, with and without her holding the baby Jesus, or Jesus still on the Cross???

I'm thinking the answer to that will satisfy your question...

That's an interesting charge from a Catholic whose own church has not yet provided a commentary on Scripture.

Since the RCC has not yet provided a Bible commentary on Scripture, neither it nor its members are in any position to challenge any other interpretation of Scripture, since there is no *official* document to which to appeal for THEIR interpretation.

They're in no position to tell us we're wrong when they don't know what *right* (supposedly according to the RCC) is.

All that's left is their personal opinion, or THEIR YOPIOS.

Since there's no official Catholic commentary on Scripture and there are allegedly some billion Catholics in the world, each is left to interpret it for themselves, that leaves the Catholic church with a billion or so different interpretations of Scripture.

Again, the Church celebrates the Resurrection as the holiest day of the year so that should satisfy your question (not that you will admit it).

1 Cor 1:23: "we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles"

... and a hang-up to certain FReepers.

mm, I think you’ve hit the motherload of RCC hypocrisy. It’s a gusher! Unofficial Catholic commentary on Scripture spewed by one BILLION RC YOPIOS...WOW!

If so, then please explain why Christ is depicted as still crucified on the cross in your church?

If Jesus' resurrection is so important to you, what is with the obsession with depiction him crucified continually?
