I'm not a very good practicing Catholic, but it MUST be the one, true religion after all....

it must be too tough....too demanding an intellectual and physical and emotional effort....

Ellison baby...you didn't leave because you didn't agree with Catholic teachings...you left because you couldn't live up to the expectations....

its so much easier to belong to an entity that claims ownership over women and encourages violence....

Excuse me, Rep. Ellison: according to revered Islamic sources, Mohammed personally took part in beheading defenseless prisoners. Why do you venerate this man?

Every “moderate” Muslim is a potential terrorist. The belief in Islam is like a tank of gasoline. It looks innocuous, until it meets the fire. For a “moderate” Muslim to become a murderous jihadist, all it takes is a spark of faith.

He became a Muslim because he felt Catholicism was too Dogmatic????

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Do you think it may have boiled over a bit when Ellison insisted on being sworn in over a Koran instead of a Bible?

You know, it seems to me that an obvious question that should occur to all Muslims, especially non-Muslims who are thinking of joining up, is why is Allah so powerless that he has been incapable of dislodging the Jews from Israel for the last sixty-three years?

Why is something that is as impotent as Allah worthy of anybody's worship?

Getting back to the topic of the "First Muslim in Congress", I found this article of great interest concerning Mr. Ellison's honesty about his religion:

marshmallow, you scored again!

The anti-Catholics are running wild tonight. I think they live for it because deep down inside they may think they really aren’t OSAS after all and that is a scary thing.

To actually have to recognize that God so loved the world that He sent His Son. And that Christ actually started a Church which has been with us for almost 2000 years.

Instead they believe that God so loved the world that He sent a book.

“I just felt it was ritual and dogma,” Ellison said. “Of course, that’s not the reality of Catholicism, but it’s the reality I lived.

Er...and saying prayers towards Mecca 7 times a day is not?

People will believe whatever they want. Only Christ can set them free to follow Him.

Wow, I’ve never seen so many “Comments Removed by Moderator” in one thread. And astonishingly the vitriolic arguments do not seem to be about the topic, Islam, but about Catholicism.

It makes you wonder what it is about the Catholic Faith that seems to get folks all riled up unlike any other.

Have you all heard Richard Strauss’s opera “Salome”? It’s a tour de force. But one vicious anti-Semitic aspect is that whenever “the Jews” appear, they do little but bicker and argue angrily.

Strauss would have LOVED the Religion Forum!

Excuse, please, my wussy sanctimoniousness, but if we who share the claim of being slaves of the Lord of Love cannot forbear, to whom will God turn when he seeks someone to send, someone to go for Him?

Don’t we need to, shouldn’t we pray for the grace to love the brother we have seen? Instead we lash out at him in the name of the Lord we have not seen.

God forgive me and give me a better, a living heart of love!

Me, too!

Me too!!!...

“When I started running for Congress it actually took me by surprise that so many people were fascinated with me being the first Muslim in Congress,” said Ellison, a Democrat now serving his third term in the House.

“This is the effort that we are seeing of Jim Crow.
Some of these folks in Congress right now would love to see us as second class citizens.
Some of them in Congress right now with this Tea Party movement would love to see you and me… hanging on a tree,”

--Andre Carson D-IN
