Seminarian follows her calling, and her heart {Presbyterian lesbian pastor}
Chicago Tribune ^ | 9 Jul 2011 | Manya A Brachear

When Jeannine Oakes answered God's call to become a pastor, it was a moment of both clarity and confusion.

Though her heart belonged to the Presbyterian Church, she also hoped one day to give her heart to a woman with whom she would share her life. The Presbyterian Church's ban on openly gay clergy did not allow for both.

Eventually, she asked the leadership at Fourth Presbyterian Church to endorse her mission and enrolled at McCormick Theological Seminary to complete the necessary coursework.

"I need to be fully who I am, and the church needs to accept that," said Oakes, 32. "God calls me to both things equally, to be who I am and to be a pastor of the church."

...

"My sexuality was so intertwined in my ordination process and becoming who I am," she said. "Some people say. 'My sexuality has nothing to do with it.' Everyone has their own process. The spirit calls them to go through that process in different ways.".....

From the article "I need to be fully who I am, and the church needs to accept that," said Oakes, 32. "God calls me to both things equally, to be who I am and to be a pastor of the church.".... sadly delusional

She follows her “calling,” she follows her heart, too bad she does not follow Christ.

For narrow it the way.

Rationalization is the 2nd strongest human drive. Because of the fall of man we are all born with sin and weakness in our hearts and souls. For some of us the weakness is in sexual behavior, for others it is in things like over indulgence in food and drink, others impulse control etc. Yet we still see addicts who justify their ways, the obese claiming they are not gluttons, etc.

It may seem like an unfair comparison to compare an overeater or gambler to someone who is gay, but in the eyes of God, sin is all about rebellion and thinking we are right and God is wrong.

The Scriptures speak against homosexuality, and endorse male pastors...neither of which she lines up with. How does God “call” her to ministry when she is not qualified according to Scripture?

The Church “needs” to accept that?

How arrogant!

Were she to depend on me to be her flock she would be pastoring herself.

Skru her.

The difference being that PCUSA churches choose their pastors. If a PCUSA church wants a lesbian, I guess they get what they deserve.

"I need to be fully who I am, and the church needs to accept that,"

No, my dear. You need to be fully who Christ calls you to become. For your flesh is dead to the Spirit but Christ calls you to die to your flesh in order that you may be reborn to His Spirit. Truly, by her words she is of the lord of the world, satan, and not of the Lord of salvation from the world.

Christ denied all sexuality in the Kingdom of God by claiming that there shall be neither man nor woman, neither slave nor slave owner in the Kingdom.

If this young lady truly wishes to serve the Lord she must put off her worldly desires and take on the Spirit of the Lord. She clearly has no interest in doing so, claiming her worldly desires take precedence over her Christian commitment.

Obviously the spirit is calling...

“Seminarian follows her calling, and her heart {Presbyterian lesbian pastor}”

“The heart is deceitful above all, and desperately wicked; who can know it?”

When a gay minister moved to a small Southern town (Presbyterian)

“As an out Presbyterian preacher, I’d experienced prejudice before. But nothing like what I faced in North Carolina

I was reading “Home in Henderson” — the unofficial city website for a small town in North Carolina where I had recently moved to preach — when I came across the blog entry. It was posted under the pseudonym “Church Reporter.”

“A friend that attends the First Presbyterian Church told me to do a Google search on their new minister Brett Webb-Mitchell,” the entry began. “Having done so, I have only three comments to make on the pastor selection: 1. Who is responsible for this mess? 2. The old biblical saying (the Lord works in mysterious ways) must be true in this case. 3. Someone needs to appoint a new membership search committee, because I hear the church membership numbers are dropping.”

I sat at my computer, stunned.”

First the church was wrong in allowing her to be a Pastor. Now unsatisfied that the church doesnt also allow her to live her sick life as a pastor and have an adulterous relationship with a girfriend she wants them to allow that too.

If she isn’t happy with the religion she has, why doesnt she start her own, instead of screwing up the one she has now.

"I need to be fully who I am, and the church needs to accept that,"

Couldn't a Church-going, 45 year-old-man, who is fond of adolescent boys, make the same statement?

Yes. Of course. As well as any unimaginable horror born in the mind of a salacious monster.

To wit:

It is my heartfelt and biological need to eat the brains of those I love as a minister of the gospel. The church must permit me, in the name of love, to minister to a flock of love objects to my heart's and stomach's content.

Not that I consider myself a salacious monster, of course.

I.I.I how many times do we see the self centered (and not Christ or God centered) person say “I here?”
