That reminds me of an old joke about that. Baptist preacher introduces himself as the new pastor at the local baptist church to which the person inquires, "is that the narrow-minded demonination that thinks they're the only group going to heaven?" The preacher replies, "Oh it's worse than that; I don't even think most baptists are going to heaven."
Sodomites love to corrupt institutions. The RC should have been more vigilant and should purge every last sodomite immediately. I would add, however, that if you are going in this direction vis a vis the RC, you ought to be far more concerned about children in government schools, where the problem of molestation has been estimated by a researcher at Hofstra as being two orders of magnitude worse than the RC problem.
Are you warning parents or people on FR about government schools?
Typical sodomite narcisism. BTW, the comments at Salon show how violently the sodomites hate Christians and the Bible.
The Catholic Church has its own problems and problem people. The difference is that problems don’t become doctrinal reversals. Homosexuality will be accepted by more and more Protestant denominations. It is inevitable. That just will never happen with the Catholic Church.
There is no need to “get to know” a fetishist like that.
you don’t need to know an animal sex practitioner to know they have a characteristic that makes them unacceptable as a friend or neighbor.
this “pastors” fetish is no different. He should stick to the ghetto that is all of san francisco.
good catch — Nietsche and Paul in the same breath!
I agree imliedly with those Christians who have declared when this individual identifies himself as homosexual he has disqualified himself as a Christian. The two systems are mutually exclusive. One can claim the name of Christ and continue in sin but the conviction of their behavior is their rebellion against God. The message of Scripture from Genesis chapter 1 through to the last words of the Revelation of Jesus Christ is what this so called gay minister would call good the Holy Bible calls wicked, and sin, and abomination(even worthy of death) ,unnatural ,etc.I can only conclude either the men who wrote- or translated from the original text misunderstood the Bible —or this reprobate has misunderstood whatever Bible he uses is —he does not understand the meaning of the terms used. And I could NOT follow where he would lead.
He is director of a religious non-profit, School of the Pilgrim, and his memoir, “Divinity,” is due for publication in the near future. Brett, his partner, Brett’s children, and their dogs, all make their home in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

A homosexual author, in a homosexual source, salon, pushing a pro-homosexual agenda.

this author, with sarcasm, proves why homosexuals should not be allowed around children.
True.
How could someone who didn’t even know me criticize me?
I encourage you to read Genesis 13:13; 18:16—19:29 And ask yourself the question Abraham seems to have asked the Righteous God- Will You destroy the righteous with the wicked? The answer I got is God would— if it would preserve HIS Holy and Righteous will. One cannot allow the small leaven to leaven the whole loaf.
Allowing the perverts to celebrate violating God's word in our midst is a very bad thing, but we should read that terrible error accurately, not in an overstated sense.
I've seen recent suggestions that the PCA and the PCUSA may be roughly equal in average Sunday attendance. Unfortunately, the PCUSA dosn't do near as good a job with statistics.
“Had he toughed it out and treated people with kindness and respect regardless of what they said to him, he might have persuaded his congregation. Whining wont get him far.”
‘Whining’ was likely not part of community rejection of the homosexual clergyperson.
The community read their Bibles, noted the passage which uses the word “abomination” as the way their God sees a man having sex with a man, and responded as is their right as the employer of said clergyperson.
“What a great point! Ive been called every name in the book on FR! All part of the conversation.”
Sounds like a typical faculty dinner.
The more so, if the callee is conservative, I must point out.
The Presbyterian Bible is only nine pages long.
As many as that? Methinks that you are being generous.
As a lifelong Protesant, I must say I agree with this statement.
One by one, Protestant denominations are abandoning the biblical standards regarding human sexuality. I happen to have done quite a bit of writing on this subject; a decade ago I was still able to report that no major Protestant denomination had formally changed their standards regarding homosexuality. Regrettably, in the past decade several major Protestant denominations have "caved" in to those whose goal is the destruction of Christian morality.
Whatever you think of the Catholic Church, it must be admitted that they have stood firm regarding issues of sexual morality, when increasing numbers of their Protestant brothers are wavering.
Of course there have been problems with individual priests. However, the numbers are an extremely low percentage of the total number of priests, and their behavior has never been condoned by the Church.
I find it amusing to see my fellow Protestants bring up the priest abuse issue, as though Protestant churches are immune to such problems. There is a very long list of Protestant/Evangelical/Charismatic/Pentecostal pastors who have fallen into homosexual or heterosexual sin.
The youth pastor at a very large Evangelical church which I attended for many years committed suicide after he was exposed for abusing young boys in the church. Does this mean that all Protestant Evangelical churches are morally corrupt? Of course not. Neither do the highly-publicized priest abuse cases justify a blanket condemnation of the Catholic Church.
Every single denomination has this ... none are immune to wolves in sheeps clothing.
The difference is that problems dont become doctrinal reversals.
Yeah well we could talk about doctrine all day. The RCC has consistently gotten this one right ... homosexuality should be condemned. Golf clap ...
Homosexuality will be accepted by more and more Protestant denominations.
I accept your statement, and will add that more and more individual Catholics will accept it too.
That just will never happen with the Catholic Church.
Perhaps not ... but all it will take is one appearance of Mary declaring otherwise, one divine revelation to a pope, or one translation of a long lost apostolic father to change that.
I often hear criticism from people saying this Baptists think they are the only ones going to Heaven.,
“Oh it’s worse than that; I don’t even think most baptists are going to heaven.”

Ok, that was funny. First thing that came to my mind was an ironic quote I read not too long ago. “Church of Christ think they are the only ones headed to heaven, and that just really boils us Baptists” (Larry Holley, Buddy Holly’s brother on why Buddy didn’t marry his long time girlfriend Echo).
