The nation’s Roman Catholic bishops on Thursday resisted calls for major changes in their child sex abuse policy despite recent cases involving priests in Kansas City and Philadelphia.
Critics say those cases raise questions about whether some bishops are even following the policy, which was crafted nine years ago to address the sex abuse crisis that was rocking the church.
The critics reacted swiftly after Thursday’s 187-5 vote, which approved a few revisions, including listing child pornography as a violation of church law.
“We are dismayed that the new policy is almost identical to the current policy, despite horrifying recent evidence in Kansas City and Philadelphia that the church’s current policies are dangerously lenient and full of loopholes,” said Terence McKiernan, president of BishopAccountability.org, a group that operates an online database of accused priests.
“The policy needs to be overhauled. This is a squandered opportunity and a disaster for children, not only in the United States but worldwide,” he said.

When someone is determined to believe something they have made up, there is no point in discussing anything.

That is not a non-response. It is a refusal to engage in a fruitless discussion with anyone who cannot face reality.
It is an invitation for observers to get accurate information for themselves, instead of relying on hysterical hyperbole. When someone feels a need to characterize that as a non-response, that characterization becomes a “tell.”
Men are commanded, not asked, to act as strong leaders ready to give their lives for their wives and by extension their families. I don't see how being repressed by a bunch of priests as they abuse children fits with that.

Where is the love of your family that allows deviants to prey on your children or your neighbors child. Men need to stand up and act like they've been told to act.
I didn’t “make something up,” so perhaps you’re talking about RC apologists who look to Wikipedia for facts and deny their own church documents.
Anyone who takes your posts seriously, is not someone that could be said to be limited by facts.

As frustrating as it is and this frustrates me in civil and criminal law as well at time, any simple steps do have to respect the due process of the accused and the presumption of innocents.
It is hard to stomach I know. But I personally want no guilty party to have a ground for appeal based on sloppy leg work and abuse of the above. When convicted whether under canon or criminal law I want the conviction to stick. I want the penalty to be the highest allowable under law. Yes I know justice must be tempered by mercy but I think mercy is not hindered by appliation of right justice.
My heart is with them. We all fall short.

Communists, Nazis, pro-abortionists, gay rights groups, euthanasia supporters all benefit from your continued screeds and falsifications so your true agendas and loyalties are easy to see and that you posing as conservatives is itself only a laughable and ignorant PR trick.

Wikipedia is self edited and self contributed. On matters Catholic it is actually quite accurate. I’ve double checked them numerous times.
