"The stampede is on," Archibishop Timothy Dolan wrote in a blog post. "Our elected senators who have stood courageous in their refusal to capitulate on the state's presumption to redefine marriage are reporting unrelenting pressure to cave-in."
He equated the move to allow same-sex marriage to life in China or North Korea, where "government presumes daily to 'redefine' rights, relationships, values and natural law."
Meanwhile, New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms, an evangelical Christian group, warned that Republicans who support gay marriage will face primaries next year as the GOP seeks to keep control of the chamber.

It’s an election promise of Cuomo’s - seems he is pushing it and whining/dining the GOP. Wonder if Archibishop Timothy Dolan brought catholic cuomo to the woodshed, yet, for him doing the devil’s work.
I'm from Massachusetts! I'm not used to getting a vote on this!
It felt good!

Yes ... there is.
The State cannot dictate how the Church shall run its affairs, nor can the State dictate which of many competing "churches" will receive favor and sanction.
The Church, however, as a private organization of citizens, may voice its institutional opinion as to what the State should do ... likewise the members of the Church, as individual citizens may both voice their opinions and exercise their franchise according to their consciences.
Separation of Church and State doesn't mean what many folks think it means.
Freeping a poll doesn't really help. Better to contact the politicians. Info posted on my latest thread.
Our laws and our institutions must necessarily be based upon and embody the teachings of The Redeemer of mankind. It is impossible that it should be otherwise; and in this sense and to this extent our civilization and our institutions are emphatically Christian... this is a Christian nation....... United States Supreme Court 1892.
I don’t think they’re counting our votes....it’s still at 27%....appears it’s rigged already.
The state should not be making laws regarding religious sacraments.
That would be typical, wouldn’t it. Why would they treat a poll any different than they treat elections?
Evidently there are more gays than straights:(
Yep....besides few things can be trusted as polls. It was not til two years ago anyone asked me what I thought...but anymore my phone rings frequently with politicians calling for money, or town hall meeting, or phone chats. etc.
