Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney announced Thursday that he will once again seek the Republican presidential nomination, but four years after his first bid, analysts say he will once again face the same unique hurdle: his Mormon religion.

Mr. Romney steered clear of his religion when he kicked off his campaign in New Hampshire, but that could change this weekend when he and Mr. Huntsman travel to Washington, where they are scheduled to speak at the Faith and Freedom Coalition (FFC) conference an event that could provide an early snapshot of where they stand with religious conservatives.
Ben Crosby, an Iowa State University professor who... studied how Mr. Romney handled his faith...told The Washington Times that Mr. Romneys Mormon roots absolutely put him at odds with much of the evangelical Christian community, which plays a key role in the first-in-the-nation Iowa caucuses and can make or break a candidate in the South Carolina Republican primary.
Mormonism represents for evangelical conservatives a breaking of a particular order, a breaking of tradition, a breaking with convention, Mr. Crosby said...

John G. Geer, chairman of Vanderbilt Universitys political science department, told The Times that his studies show that while there has been a steep decline in prejudice against many groups in the United States, that hasnt been the case with Mormons, Muslims or atheists.

That said, slander away, but please consider my advice on how to "slander somebody more ethically."
It does include this though.
“Though the Church would prefer that all Orthodox Christians would marry Orthodox Christians, it does not insist on it in practice. Out of its concern for the spiritual welfare of members who wish to marry a non-Orthodox Christian, the Church will conduct a “mixed marriage.” For this purpose, a “non-Orthodox Christian” is a member of the Roman Catholic Church, or one of the many Protestant Churches which believe in and baptize in the name of the Holy Trinity. This means that such mixed marriages may be performed in the Orthodox Church. However, the Orthodox Church does not perform marriages between Orthodox Christians and persons belonging to other religions, such as Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, or any sectarian and cult group, such as Christian Science, Mormonism, or the followers of Rev. Moon.”

Me too.
No one could ever claim that Mormon baptism (or any of a litany of other false, Mormon doctrines) is accepted by the Eastern Orthodox churches.
It appears you are the fool, since you don’t even know that you already are in the Religion forum.
I totally agree. If you also look back at his history, he played with the electorate on various issues of abortion, same-sex marriage, etc., as a reckless politician. So as far as I can tell, in addition to the fact that he supported Universal Healthcare, put all those stances together, and this man is rediculously unlikely to get elected, just because his past stances would be so offensive to so much of the population.
