Bill Keller infamously announced in 2007, "If you vote for Mitt Romney, you are voting for Satan!"
While expressing less vitriol in his delivery, evangelical author Warren Cole Smith said something similar in his recent article, "A Vote for Romney Is a Vote for the LDS Church."
Smith wrote, "I believe a candidate who either by intent or effect promotes a false and dangerous religion is unfit to serve.
A Romney presidency would have the effect of actively promoting a false religion in the world. If you have any regard for the Gospel of Christ, you should care. A false religion should not prosper with the support of Christians. The salvation of souls is at stake."
Mormon scholar and author Joanna Brooks spoke with Smith about his views regarding Mormonism. In the interview posted on religiondispatches.org, Brooks said: "I can understand from an evangelical perspective why you view our religion as 'false.' But why do you think we are 'dangerous?'"
Smith replied, "Let me ask you: is anything that is false not dangerous? Anything false is dangerous. Falsehood leads to danger."
Brooks countered by asking if other faiths he considered theologically "false" like Judaism and Catholicism are also dangerous. Smith said that those faiths are both different from Mormonism.

Even today temple mormons are being taught they are bound to be gods and goddesses - literally.
The Doctrine and Covenants
Section 132
Revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Nauvoo, Illinois, recorded 12 July 1843, relating to the new and everlasting covenant, including the eternity of the marriage covenant, and also the plurality of wives (see History of the Church, 5:5017). Although the revelation was recorded in 1843, it is evident from the historical records that the doctrines and principles involved in this revelation had been known by the Prophet since 1831.
16, Exaltation is gained through the new and everlasting covenant; 714, The terms and conditions of that covenant are set forth; 1520, Celestial marriage and a continuation of the family unit enable men to become gods; 2125, The strait and narrow way leads to eternal lives; 2627, The law is given relative to blasphemy against the Holy Ghost; 2839, Promises of eternal increase and exaltation are made to prophets and Saints in all ages; 4047, Joseph Smith is given the power to bind and seal on earth and in heaven; 4850, The Lord seals upon him his exaltation; 5157, Emma Smith is counseled to be faithful and true; 5866, Laws governing the plurality of wives are set forth.
16Therefore, when they are out of the world they neither marry nor are given in a; but are appointed angels in b, which angels are ministering c, to minister for those who are worthy of a far more, and an exceeding, and an eternal weight of glory.
17For these angels did not abide my law; therefore, they cannot be enlarged, but remain separately and singly, without exaltation, in their saved condition, to all eternity; and from henceforth are not gods, but are a of God forever and ever.
18And again, verily I say unto you, if a man marry a wife, and make a covenant with her for time and for all eternity, if that a is not by me or by my word, which is my law, and is not sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise, through him whom I have anointed and appointed unto this power, then it is not valid neither of force when they are out of the world, because they are not joined by me, saith the Lord, neither by my word; when they are out of the world it cannot be received there, because the angels and the gods are appointed there, by whom they cannot pass; they cannot, therefore, inherit my glory; for my house is a house of order, saith the Lord God.
19And again, verily I say unto you, if a man a a wife by my word, which is my law, and by the new and b covenant, and it is c unto them by the Holy Spirit of d, by him who is anointed, unto whom I have appointed this power and the e of this priesthood; and it shall be said unto themYe shall come forth in the first resurrection; and if it be after the first resurrection, in the next resurrection; and shall inherit f, kingdoms, principalities, and powers, dominions, all heights and depthsthen shall it be written in the Lambs g of Life, that he shall commit no h whereby to shed innocent i, and if ye abide in my covenant, and commit no murder whereby to shed innocent blood, it shall be done unto them in all things whatsoever my servant hath put upon them, in time, and through all eternity; and shall be of full force when they are out of the world; and they shall pass by the angels, and the gods, which are set there, to their j and glory in all things, as hath been sealed upon their heads, which glory shall be a fulness and a continuation of the k forever and ever.
20 Then shall they be gods, because they have no end; therefore shall they be from a to everlasting, because they continue; then shall they be above all, because all things are subject unto them. Then shall they be b, because they have c power, and the angels are subject unto them.
21Verily, verily, I say unto you, except ye abide my a ye cannot attain to this glory.
22For a is the gate, and narrow the b that leadeth unto the exaltation and continuation of the c, and few there be that find it, because ye receive me not in the world neither do ye know me.
23But if ye receive me in the world, then shall ye know me, and shall receive your exaltation; that a I am ye shall be also.
24This is a livesto b the only wise and true God, and Jesus Christ, whom he hath c. I am he. Receive ye, therefore, my law.
25a is the gate, and wide the way that leadeth to the b; and many there are that go in thereat, because they c me not, neither do they abide in my law.

I lived for quite a few years in Mormon-majority areas. I have never heard of such behavior by Mormons.
Not a fan of the religion, but most all devout (modern) Mormons are very decent people.
The early Mormons were very much a cult by modern standards. Right up there with Jim Jones and David Koresh.
But with the exception of the fundamentalist bunch they’re mellowed a great deal.
Catholics and Protestants also have some pretty dark history.

Seems the only way to hate mittens is because of his religion, never mind his slick, back stabbing wishy washy, flip flopping big government beliefs. What I 'hate' are folks who keep trying to SPIN the HATRED for the HERESY that is MORMONism into HATRED for the individual.
Please folks: the two are DIFFERENT!

When it comes to the Mormons, there is nothing BUT an ugly tone. So true!
Why are they that way?

This is what I hate about these “Religious” threads. No, I don’t know I am in one until I’m chastised.
I hit “everything” for the forum and have NO idea which category I am stepping into because I do not care.
If someone posts a thread that peeks my interest, I respond. If not, I continue to move along.
Apparently, if someone posts a “I hate all Mormons thread”, you are supposed to go along with the hatred and NEVER veer from it.
Love thy neighbor as you would love yourself apparently does not apply to Mormons.....or JH’s as well.

Love thy neighbor as you would love yourself apparently does not apply to Mormons.....or JHs as well.Rebuke thy neighbor is SORELY overlooked in today's 'mellowed' society!
Acts 17:18-19
18. A group of Epicurean and Stoic philosophers began to dispute with him. Some of them asked, "What is this babbler trying to say?" Others remarked, "He seems to be advocating foreign gods." They said this because Paul was preaching the good news about Jesus and the resurrection.
19. Then they took him and brought him to a meeting of the Areopagus, where they said to him, "May we know what this new teaching is that you are presenting?
Acts 18:11
So Paul stayed for a year and a half, teaching them the word of God.
Romans 15:4
For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
Romans 16:17
I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.
1 Corinthians 4:17
For this reason I am sending to you Timothy, my son whom I love, who is faithful in the Lord. He will remind you of my way of life in Christ Jesus, which agrees with what I teach everywhere in every church.
1 Corinthians 11:2
2. I praise you for remembering me in everything and for holding to the teachings, just as I passed them on to you.
Ephesians 4:14-15
14. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.
15. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ.
2 Thessalonians 2:15
So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.
2 Thessalonians 3:6
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live according to the teaching you received from us.
1 Timothy 1:3-4
3. As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain men not to teach false doctrines any longer
4. nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. These promote controversies rather than God's work--which is by faith.
1 Timothy 1:7
They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm.
1 Timothy 2:7
And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle--I am telling the truth, I am not lying--and a teacher of the true faith to the Gentiles.
1 Timothy 4:1-2
1. The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.
2. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.
1 Timothy 4:6
If you point these things out to the brothers, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, brought up in the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed.
1 Timothy 4:11
Command and teach these things.
1 Timothy 6:3-5
3. If anyone teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching,
4. he is conceited and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions
5. and constant friction between men of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.
2 Timothy 1:13
What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus.
2 Timothy 2:15-17
15. Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
16. Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.
17. Their teaching will spread like gangrene.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
16. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
17. so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 4:3-4
3. For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.
4. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.
Titus 1:11
They must be silenced, because they are ruining whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach--and that for the sake of dishonest gain.
Titus 2:1
You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine.
Titus 2:15
These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.
Hebrews 13:9
Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings.
2 Peter 2:1-3
1. But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them--bringing swift destruction on themselves.
2. Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.
3. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.
2 John 1:10
If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take him into your house or welcome him.

You mention the Fundamentalist bunch, and this raises a point that I want to make. Frequently I see posters drop references to the FLDS when discussing Mormons, and it seems that their intent is to imply guilt by association. My view is that the polygamous FLDS don’t have any more to do with the mainstream Mormon church than David Koresh had to do with Seventh Day Adventists, or that the Westborough Baptist church has to do with the mainstream Southern Baptist Church.
To: Texan Tory
Hum?
My lds cousin will tell you straight out that they (lds) do whatever is necessary to portray themselves as “perfect families” when they are not around you will belittle and make fun of anyone who is not a mormon.
As far as “at the hands of mormons”, my cousin was a temple worker, her and her husband were employed by the SL temple, yet when she did something her husband felt was “unworthy” she was hauled before the bishop and berated. Her friends knew, her other family knew, her co-workers knew. She was shunned, lost her job.......unworthy unworthy. (lds doctrine) After several weeks of this she took her own life.
Good mormons, decent mormons on the surface maybe but that is only skin deep. As a side note, I have never seen an lds ward not separate and very "over the top property" even in the poorest communities. Side by side with another church, very unusual.

I have always thought of Sarah, since she first stepped into the spotlight......here is our modern day Esther.
I will ALWAYS see Sarah in that light......God willing
P.S.....I've been praying that God tells Sarah she HAS no choice but to step in and get our country back. I know she prays for guidance and what to do, so I am praying He tells her GO!
