That is why the challenge in not against Mormons per se but MormonISM.

When one of the adherents comes along and promotes the unchristian doctrine of the LDS it is clear they are not following the true Christ, but the fictional one of the Mormons, which by their own prophets admission is not the same then we challenge them as well.

Now can Mormons follow the true Christ in their hearts, I have actually proposed such here over the years. Indeed it is possible social pressure or fiscal/financial needs require remaining in the LDS. Nut I would have to question one willing staying and supporting a Church that so maligns the Savior and his message for Spiritual reasons.

This is the main reason so many have left. The Real Christ shines well above that concocted one of the LDS.

As far as you Baptist example, only God would know that for certain, but again, our lives serve as example, a indication of the state of our salvation. Supporting unchristian activities and organizations does not follow such logically.

I guess a better way to approach it is to ask how would you view his stance with Christ if he had become a Buddhist for a while instead of a Mormon?

A non Christian Church is a non Christian Church. The fact that the LDS usurp Jesus name for their benefit means nothing in that regard.

Agreed...

I recall the Christian "missionary" efforts of my youth. It was at the height of the "devil music" hysteria. Backwards lyrics, "Repent or be eternally damned", etc.

Scare tactics rarely work on know-it all teenagers, if anything, they backfire. Especially when you're telling them they have to give up their music. Although now, I can recognize that there are reasons to give up much of the secular music. Besides, there are many Christian artists out there now who fill in quite nicely for many of my preferred tastes.

"The Bible warns us of false teachers and churches which lead believers astray. The Bible indicates we are each to be wary lest we follow one of them."

I didn't know the Bible when I began the mormon missionary lessons and was ultimately converted. It wasn't until years later that I began to understand that I had been led astray.

“I didn’t know the Bible when I began the mormon missionary lessons and was ultimately converted. It wasn’t until years later that I began to understand that I had been led astray.”

Which comes back to the crux of my issue with this thread. If your goal is to lead Mormons back from the abyss it seems attacking them is a poor way to go about it. Not saying you were, just my issue with this thread.

You’ve been asking a lot of questions and getting upset when challenged to answer any questions yourself.

What question (accusation) did I not address?

I don’t recall using that phrase...”

What ELSE would it be than EVIL, if folks do not follow the only laws that YOU think are applicable?

There are as many methods to instruct as there are instructors. Not all are effective.

I posted this on another thread, it may prove helpful in understanding why many are perceived to be “attacking” vs. trying to dispel misconceptions.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/religion/2702669/posts?page=32#32

I haven’t seen anyone attacking a mormon unless it’s devolved into a personal confrontation and the RM usually squashes that pretty quickly.

“Attacking” a false statement or doctrine should be considered well within the boundaries of debate.

As for me, I was finally knocked out of my inactive stupor by some/many of the comments here on FR.

I finally started to read to comprehend what was being said, not how it was being said. This led me to abandon the church altogether instead of hanging on as a jack mormon.

Some are ready, some are not, I was. Who knows when someone else will be?

There is but one narrow path to salvation.

You two need to talk!

I agree that Mormonism is not Christianity but that doesn’t mean that a Mormon cannot truly know Christ as his savior.

I think you will get NO argument from any ANTI on this statement.

Except maybe from magritte; but I don't know if we consider her (him?) an anti or not...

30 years ago Christians used the same message, accept Christ or die and spend eternity burning in hell.

The message is STILL the same.

John 3:18

That's why we try to love bomb them into our church; the ONLY one with authority from GOD.

--MormonDude(Although I've heard some MORMONs say that some truth is found in Christian churchs. We just happen to have ALL of it!)

p.s. but we are still waiting for more!

If your goal is to lead Mormons back from the abyss it seems attacking them is a poor way to go about it.

They personalize the attack.

People who complain of our 2*4 usage tend to as well.

It's MORMONism that is called into judgement, and shown to be lacking. The BELIEVERS in it get upset.

How would YOU point out false teachings and NOT ruffle their feathers??

I was responding to what YOU said:

“they are not saved in the eyes of Jesus. “

I think this was incorrect. I think there is enough disconnect between the church and the individual. The church teaches people not to question the church. All that does is suppress what is said, not what is thought.
My friend admitted that he “went along to get along” and never really believed all of the church’s teachings.

“The church teaches people not to question the church.”

I do not know what world you live in cause we are taught to find our own answers. We are to do our own study and ask God ourselves if it is true. We have always been taught to get our own testimony.

Satan has his teachers try to convince you that Mormons are just blind followers.

“We are to do our own study and ask God ourselves if it is true.”

Hiya, K-Ben-K.

May I ask what it is that you are to ask God if true or not?

How does God manifest that it is true? Or is it a desire that the church be true trumping a desire for the truth?
