California priest placed on leave. {Another Roman Catholic Scandal Brewing]

Full Title: California priest placed on leave, reportedly concelebrated with Protestant pastor

Bishop Tod Brown of Orange has placed Father Augustin Escobar on leave following reports that he permitted a Protestant pastor to act as a concelebrant during Mass and to distribute Holy Communion.

Concelebrating Mass with ministers of ecclesial communities that do not have apostolic succession is an “exceptionally serious” crime against the sacraments, according to canonical norms currently in force. Violation of the norm falls under the purview of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and may result in dismissal from the clerical state without an ecclesiastical trial.

Mark my words; this will cause more outrage by FRoman Catholics against said priest than any pedophile priest ever has!

There’s no scandal brewing. It seems that this is already over.

There is a much larger scandal with children.

How do you figger’ that? FRoman Catholics are outraged by pedophiles, same as anyone. Unless you can provide substantial evidence (Wide and varied posts, etc) that few FRoman Catholics are outraged by pedophiles, then I, and all readers, must conclude that you are using hyperbole.

I thought the Lord instructed his followers not to delight in the misfortunes of others.

Oh, wellllllll......

Who is the author of this? You forgot that.

Yes, I’m being picky. You would be doing the same thing, wouldn’t you?

You are wrong if you think that Catholics are not outraged over every single one of these pedophile priests.

But, a post such as this is used to try to tear down the Church and not as edification.

These type of posts are meant to try to do to honorable Catholics what honest debate cannot, and that is to cast doubt on their faith.

The church is so much more than these men and this scandal.

All this does is to point out what Catholics have never denied, that our church is not a church of the perfect, but rather a place for sinners.

The faith is not harmed by this, only people. What other purpose is there to keep flogging at it?

Pretty telling isn't it.

Even if the FRoman Catholics don't, notice how the official RC church reacted. Much harsher for this *infraction* than for serially molesting minors.

Goes to show where their real priorities are and it isn't in protecting the youth in their church.

Because newbie, I have yet to see an outpouring of rage on FR.

I see denials, bobbing and weaving, defensiveness, etc. Basically a circling of the wagons.

Never a thread of outrage by the FRoman Catholics.

Move on folks, this is the story posted last week about a priest inviting a Presbyterian minister to take part in a Mass.

The priest was wrong and it’s an old story.

furthermore, your brackets ( { ] ) don't match.

oh, and how about that keyword, "ecumenism." yeah, its always "ecumenical" to post Catholic dirt, since, ha, yeah, everyone knows that everyone else is squeaky-freaking-clean.

"Because newbie, I have yet to see an outpouring of rage on FR."

From a purely logical standpoint, a single individual claim to have seen, or in this case, not seen, something is neither sufficient or valid. Your argument, thus far, holds no water.

And I'm actually a semi-newbie, not a newbie.

I think I shall not move on. It’s a very interesting story to comment on. And guess what? It’s not a CAUCUS THREAD!! We’re ALL invited to comment! Maybe we missed it last week and are just now seeing it. Maybe we have updated comments on it. It’s very interesting.

It ticks me off at myself when I do the funny bracket thing to myself. I usually ask to get it changed. LOL!

But we all make mistakes.

BTW, does the Presbyterian minister who took part in this have any responsibility for HIS actions?? LOL!

Wasn’t it Coleus who was either suspended or banned for posting article after article about protestant minister misbehavior?

Seems like some are more equal than others.

I’m a really newbie, and I can already tell that Gamecock is one of the kindest, meekest Christians I have ever been lucky enough to encounter.
