The founder of a leading tea party group is showing himself to be quite the bizarre extremist, shocking I know. Tea Party Nation founder Judson Phillips became worked up after seeing a banner supporting the DREAM Act on a Washington area Methodist Church. He promptly posted an anti-immigration screed on his website, wherein he said My dream is the Methodist church goes out of business. He then proceeded to paint the church as a breeding ground for Karl Marx Communists and socialists.
If this makes no sense to you, join the club.
I have a DREAM. That is, no more United Methodist Church. I grew up in the Methodist church. I left as a teenager because the Methodist Church is little more than the first Church of Karl Marx. After all, what can you say about a church that considers Hillary Clinton to be a member in good standing? Today, the Methodist Church is little more than the religious arm of socialism, writes Phillips.
He then went on to rail against socialist ObamaCare and undocumented immigrants.
The Methodist church is pro-illegal immigration. They have been in the bag for socialist health care, going as far as sending out emails to their membership debunking the myths of Obamacare.
Phillips added that members of the Methodist Church are anti-American.
In short, if you hate America, you have a great future in the Methodist church, said Phillips.
Recently, Phillips said it makes a lot of sense to restrict voting rights to property owners. And he has called for his tea party mob to retire Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), because he is Muslim.
You may recall Philips paid former half-term governor Sarah Palin a reported $100,000 to deliver the keynote speech at his Tea Party Nation convention in February. During a question and answer segment, Palin previewed her hand teleprompter with scribbled notes on the palm of her hand.
Awesome. It's people posting quotes like this that make FR the incredible place it is. Good show.
Baloney. The UMC is no more marxist than any of the other mainline denominations and the Roman Catholic Church. There are conservative elements and movements within the UMC. (ie the confessing movement, the renewal movement and the Institute for Religious Democracy)
I’ll bite “such as dancing was OK, and going to movies was OK” —> what’s wrong with dancing or going to movies?
“Whatsoever is not of faith is sin.”(Romans 14:23)
Nothing in itself is evil, neither movies nor dancing, except when it is loved and pursued above honoring God and His Beloved Son. He could have taught us the Word of God!
The Holy Scriptures teach us; “To seek ye first the kingdom of God,and His righteousness.” (Matthew 7:33)
It is a matter of priorities; and at the age of 12 back then, I, and most of the church members thought that was the purpose of a pastor to bring us up focused on the will of God; to learn more of His will, and who God is.”
You and I will practice and do all these other things outside the Lord’s Church. (Ephesians 5:25)
Jesus taught: “God is a Spirit, and they that worship Him, must worship Him in spirit and truth.”(John 5:24)
It’s more what the pastor did not teach and did not say, than what he said.
“Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” (James 4:17)
Later, and I thank God for it, I attended a Church in which the Pastor, and the Sunday school teachers taught to us memorize the Holy Scriptures, and we memorized the Books of the Bible.
Here are a few of the verses I still remember:
“Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to Thy word. With my whole heart have I sought Thee: O let me not wander from Thy command- ments. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might sin against Thee.” (Psalm 119:9-11)
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” (Proverbs 14:12&16:25)
“For whosoever shall call upon the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17)
“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever.” (1 Peter 1:23)
ok, so you don’t believe that dancing is evil.
You seem to be like the Pharisees that were trying to trap the Lord, is that so?
Whether I do or not does not make it so. To take pleasure of any kind is evil, if you love it more than you do our Saviour!
Let me ask you a question; Do you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour?
Tell me what do you think of Him, and His words, and His promises?
“He that hath the Son hath life; he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” (1 John 5:12)
actually, you seem to be more like the pharisees with ordinances against dancing. I asked you a simple question — if you believe that dancing is evil. It’s a simple yes/no question.
I did answer your question. It is an anwer of yes and know, I you have if seek to deny youself and seek God’s will above you own will.
Boy, you do have a hang up don’t you! All I said is the Young pastor (and he was part time then) changed the whole message of the church, and this was back in 47-48) but you could see this all over America, that change was coming, and especially from the colleges and universities.
These changes began to leave the message of Christ and of salvation from their lives. Today the churches are filled with people looking for a license “to do what is right in their own eyes!”
Is going to movies and dancing more important than sharing the Gospel of Christ with your neighbors and your families (and even your own children?)
I gave you the answer, and it was yes and know! I do mean Know, you through the indwelling spirit will lead and guide you, if you are not in rebellion!
There is no question if you believe what is given in God’s Word if you are born of the spirit.
Have you been born twice? I praise God, by His mercy and grace I have!
You surely know, we are not here to nit-pick issues, but to know Him, and to make Him known.
It does not make any different, in any of these things if you are not born from above, so that we become the children of God. Then we will have a new set of wants!
Someone told Dr. Rogers: “If I believed like you do, I would sin all I wanted to.”
Dr. Rogers said, “I already sin all I want to, one sin is too much, when you are saved, you no longer want to sin, We have a new set of wants.”
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature old things are passed away.” (1 Corinthians 5:17)
