The internet is aflutter with the debate of condom use and the Church. This is because of the leak of portions of an interview of Pope Benedict by Peter Seewald , the author of a new book Light of the World: The Pope, the Church and the Signs of the Times .

There may be a basis in the case of some individuals, as perhaps when a male prostitute uses a condom, where this can be a first step in the direction of a moralization, a first assumption of responsibility, on the way toward recovering an awareness that not everything is allowed and that one cannot do whatever one wants. But it is not really the way to deal with the evil of HIV infection. That can really lie only in a humanization of sexuality.
Seewald:
Are you saying, then, that the Catholic Church is actually not opposed in principle to the use of condoms?
Benedict: She of course does not regard it as a real or moral solution, but, in this or that case, there can be, nonetheless, in the intention of reducing the infection, a first step in the movement toward a different way, a more human way, of living sexuality.
Pause here and think about this phrase a different way, a more human way, of living sexuality.
Benedict is not repealing or revising Catholic teaching on sex within marriage (which it teaches should be open to procreation) or sex outside marriage (still wrong).

Cheers!
Even director of Harvard's AIDS Prevention Research Project, Edward C. Green agrees with Pope Benedict XVI that There's no evidence at all that condoms have worked as a public health intervention intended to reduce HIV infections at the "level of population."
The problem is that now the Vatican and Catholics are on defense. The MSM has run with this story, and most people won’t take the time to read the whole quote, they’ll just hear what the MSM wants them to hear. Geraldo was jumping all over this. It would have been better if he had not answered the question at all.

That’s OK, the truth is there for those who truly seek. I saw the story in the news and came to FR to find out the truth.
God willed it this way. Christ is the sword that divides, those of good will, will understand the pope’s comment, and it will further highlight to them the tactics of the anti-Christ media to discredit anything that goes against their agenda.
I’m passionately in behalf of the truth
wherever that lies.
However the chips fall.
The truth alone is solid. Everything else is quicksand.
Thanks for your kind words.
