Eternal rest grant unto him,
O Lord, and let perpetual light
shine upon him.
May he and the souls of all
the faithful departed
rest in peace.
Amen
God bless you, Michael Voris.

There was a moment of silence, and the band came onto the field and played the
Alma Mater. (That was at the beginning of the second half, if I recall).
Quit your whining, Mr. Voris. You sound more upset that a prayer wasn't staged (and nationally broadcast), instead of being upset about the poor kid.

Having that many people praying for Declan Sullivan's soul all at the same time (my husband and son were amongst those in attendance) would not only have attributed to an immense period of peace in purgatory for Declan (if that's where his soul lies), but it would have given Notre Dame (Our Mother) a reason to smile, and, in addition, a moment of hope for her University.
Michael Voris definitely cares for Declan and his family, the future of Notre Dame and Catholicism. He also cares about the students who were beyond upset over this avoidable death. They too would have been helped if silence was put aside for honest holy spoken prayer.

Interesting -- I'm not sure what difference it makes one way or another, in a sense that this tragic death wouldn't have gotten much attention except for the fact that the incident occurred at a football practice.
That Whitlock guy who writes an online column for the Fox Sports website has been calling for the Notre Dame head coach to be fired over this incident.

I can understand his comments on that. I mentioned that to my husband and he said it's Declan's immediate boss who is at fault. That the coach can't be doing every job on the field, or he wouldn't be able to coach. Clearly, someone wasn't thinking regarding this tragedy. The University is going to get sued to the hilt (which they should).

I agree. Whitlock's point was that the Notre Dame head coach shouldn't have even been holding the practice in those wind conditions. He cited the case of Ohio State's head coach, who moved the team's practice indoors that day specifically because of his concerns about the dangers of high winds.
Something to keep in mind here is that the incident didn't occur on what was just a very windy day in Indiana. There were high-wind advisories and tornado warnings all over that part of the Midwest, with some places reporting sustained winds of 40-50 mph and gusts of over 70-mph (that's hurricane strength).

Okay, well I agree with you and Whitlock on that. The practice should have been held indoors, and that would be the coach’s call.
