Four Utah County teens are being accused of vandalizing an LDS church in Pleasant Grove.
Four 14-year-olds got into the chapel through an open window they found on Friday afternoon.
They vandalized the church in the name of hatred against the LDS church. It turns out all of the teens are apparently Mormons themselves.
They burned a set of scriptures at the pulpit in the chapel and on a chalkboard in one classroom wrote, "(BLANK) Mormons and their mothers".
The teens spent an hour inside and then set off the fire alarm after pulling the pin on a fire extinguisher.
The church spent the next couple of days cleaning it up and services were held on Sunday. Members were asked to pray for the teens.
Here's more info on the damage and type of "hatred" they exhibited against their own church members and families:
An LDS church was damaged in Pleasant Grove Friday after teens broke in and started multiple fires. Pleasant Grove deputy fire chief Dave Thomas said three boys and one girl between 13 and 14 years old got into the church at 1300 W. 56 South by climbing in through a window between 4 and 5 p.m. He said the teens went through the church throwing items, overturning tables and vandalizing the building. "During their time inside, they moved into the chapel area, where it looks like they set some scriptures on fire on the pulpit," he said. The teens also started some hymn books on fire in the church's gym and broke into the stake president's office and went through the room. Thomas said it is unclear whether anything was taken from the room. In several rooms, tables were broken and items were overturned, and in one classroom the teens wrote anti-Mormon statements on a chalkboard. Thomas said the youths also blew a fire extinguisher down a hallway, and the dust from the fire extinguisher set off the smoke alarm in the building. The smoke alarm sounded and lights flashed, which alerted neighbors who called police. Thomas said the teens fled, but witnesses recognized them and saw where they went. Police later found the teens, three of which had lighters, Thomas said. He said the teens also left some evidence behind that ties them to the scene.

This excerpt was from the Provo Daily Herald, which, as usual, has "trouble" "updating" their stories to include the "little fact" that the perpetrators who did this were Mormon teens.
But those kind of "details" seem to be lost on Mormon editors and Mormon journalists and even on Mormon-owned newspapers, like what was just reported over the weekend in two more Lds arson cases:
The Salt Lake Trib reported: Arrest made in LDS church fires in South Salt Lake: South Salt Lake police Sunday arrested a man in connection with fires that damaged two LDS meetinghouses over the weekend. Patrick Ehat, 26, of Salt Lake City, was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County jail on suspicion of arson, burglary and criminal mischief...A ward directory lists a Pat Ehat as a member.
(Conveniently, the Mormon-owned Deseret News left out the "little fact" that Ehat was an Lds member...despite having inside sources that other newspapers would have trouble securing...The Fox affiliate for Salt Lake City)
Ehat is a member of the LDS church, attended BYU, and even served a 2-year mission in Brazil. A friend of the family is surprised at the allegations. Source: Suspected LDS Church Arsonist Arrested
Per a local Fox News outlet -- Police arrest man for alleged LDS Church fires: Police said Ehat's father persuaded him to turn himself in. Investigators said Ehat admitted he had a grudge against the LDS Church when he was excommunicated.
Apparently the ex-communication was recent.
Oh noez! The persecution!!!
Have those Mormon teens been reading the Internet and are now realizing the truth of what their religion stands for?
Or, is it more like those cases several years ago where a lesbian reported a crime of assault and a hate crime based upon her lesbianism, only for the authorities to find out she made the whole thing up?
Take, for example, the headline of this article posted.
Now I'm not critiquing Fox here per se. Actually, Fox 13 was perhaps the only (or one of the extreme few) of radio stations, TV stations and newspapers in Utah to actually point out in that same article that the 4 teens responsible for vandalizing and engaging in arson of that Lds facility were indeed Mormon teens. [So my comment addresses the Fox editor who wrote the headline, not the Fox news guy/journalist who was bold enough to mention that "small" detail]
What could have improved the headline (and finished the sentence?): LDS Church Vandalized by Mormon Teens
THIS PERSECUTION AGAINST MORMONS HAS TO STOP NOW!!!!!!!!!
Now, even mormons are persecuting themselves!!
It has to stop. Please.
Do it for the unborn spirit children.
Mormons: Quit hating each other. Don’t you know we have opposition to Obama to focus on???
Mormons: it is Muslims flying planes into buildings. NOT other Mormons!!
Mormons: This is a website for conservative talk. We are getting distracted by your mormon-on-mormon (here I am not referring to Joe Smith’s activities) violence!!
Just Stop it!

Your sense of humor is kind of like The Comedian’s, anothe freeper with an interesting take on things. When I was a member of a Baptist Chruch in another Pleasant Grove in Alabama, the kids that vandalized that church were children of member families, too.
That doesn't count! Only Mormons get persecuted in this country, even if they have to do it to themselves! [/s]
How sad. Even sadder is the gleeful enjoyment the classless anti-Mormon gang gets out of it. Keep showing your true colors. Please.
Even if they have to do it themselves? Oh! I think I get it now. So, can we expect the usual team of whiners to join the thread soon ... I just want to know when to start ignoring this thread.
No, classless is implying that fellow FReepers are responsible.

Oh, PD, have you had your sense of humor surgically removed, by any chance?
Since you relate to links, here’s one for you:

We can expect HONESTY, SINCERITY, FORTHRIGHTNESS, HUMILITY, CONTRITENESS, SORROW ETC from the nice mormons who have falsely err accidently accused us...
I said we can expect...
Well,
Never mind...
The FACT that you can't or won't acknowledge this is telling.
I will ping your "dear reader" posts to this post...when I can.
Pathetic.....as it is.
Were the Amish recruiting in Utah? Were there any hoofbeats detected in their escape? Scandalous indeed.
Maybe a business card from an Amish furniture maker was left at the scene? Get the Alaskan affiliates of NBC, CBS, and ABC out there now.
:-)
The FACT that NONE have refuted or addressed the behavior is telling as well.
Silence in the face of such behavior is an act of complicity and acceptance of said behavior.
That is classless.
Were J.Smith or B. Young perfect?
The only answer I got was a "mormon" defender...that danced around and did not give a yes or no. And never answered my reply.
We actually ought to list the questions that mormon's personally here will NOT answer....Might be an interesting large list.
Ah, an Arnold friberg painting! An excellent artist! His Canadian Mountie prints are beautiful!
Another LDS artist is really a Seventh Day Adventist. I can’t rememver his name offhand. Our local library has a book about him published by Herald and Review, the SDA prining house.
The premier Mormon artist in America is Minerva Teichert.
