This is just an observation I've made reading these kinds of Threads. One leaves the Catholic Church to become something else. One leaves something else to join the Catholic Church.

There seem to be two reasons for these. Those who want freedom from authority, and those who desire authority. Those two reasons lead to a completely different path in life and redemption, of course, but it remains that authority or freedom are the driving forces.

You know what’s funny about that is that the testimony we read of those who have converted to Romanism, on this forum, the answer given for their conversion relates to some existential experience that relates to the Roman mass.

Methinks that the Romanists and Pent-E-costals have much in common and only the form differs.

Well, of course, Christ's people as in Christ's Church, the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church will be with Christ yes. All heresies don't remain -- some like Arianism have already died out, while others like the original Anglicans and lutherans and Presbys and Calvinistas are dying. Even the new 19th and 20th century groupings (OPC, Baptist groupings, Pentecostals, etc) will die out soon as their half-life seems shortened each generation.

Instead, you can come and experience the fullness of Christ in Christ's Church, the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. Come, seek Christ.

"Iscool already mentioned his baptism by fire"

Ok, whatever you and Iscool's various non-Christian groups want to do, go ahead, it's a free country. When you want to experience the fullness of Christ and to experience a personal relationship with Christ, come to mass and experience Christ during the Eucharist. You can still reject the fire-worshippers and come to Christ in His One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church

You CAN’T be a believer in God’s Church - HIS WORd says by GRACE through FAITH are you saved and NOT oF WORKS.

The RCC says works are needed.

I won’t go into the heretic teachings of Mary being more than a faithful servant - and you needing purgatory, praying to the dead.

You can claim all you want since it’s obvious you need to hang onto something. It gives you comfort here - but that’s only for a moment.

Heresies all evolve from the same place. the god of this world. They really don’t die so much as change, from one false doctrine to another. But in the end it’s all the same. Antichrist.

Yes, there are those who want freedom from God and His authority. These folks leave or do not come to the Catholic Church where one can experience life in God's authority, in Christ's Church

If one does not come to God, then one either rejects authority completely or takes the authority of some pastor to follow and the latter can lead to the former.

His disciples were not the first "Catholics." If you have forgotten, the name of your church is the "Roman" Catholic Church. There is a possibility, though little evidence, that Peter was in Rome. But none of the other Twelve (Paul being a Thirteenth) were ever in Rome.

And, lest you forget, for the first 1000 years of the church, there were four other co-equal patriarchs in Jerusalem, Antioch, Alexandria, and Constantinople. After the Great Schism in AD1054, when the Patriarch of Rome took it upon himself to excommunicate the other four over theological and ecclesiastical issues, not the least was the contention by the Roman Patriarch that he was supreme, he Patriarch of Rome assumed he was the role of Supreme Pontiff. There is a vast part of Orthodox Christendom that disagrees with that position, to say nothing of the millions of Protestants who disagree also.

By the way, the Roman Catholic Church did not give the Church the Bible, God spoke through over 40 authors, and apart from Peter and Paul, were never anywhere near Rome.

Heresies all evolve from the same place. the god of this world.

Yes, we've seen this as behind Marcionism, Arianism, Gnosticism and the Protestant groupings. Luckily the god of this world is weak compared to Our Lord, Jesus Christ. Hence Jesus Christ's Church, the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church survives for the past 2000 years while all the heresies die out.

The first generation Protestant groupings are dying. The 4th and 5th generations like the various Pentecostals, Baptists, etc have a shorter lifespan and are dying out too -- with new sub-sub-sub-groups formign and dying.

The heresies DO die out and you have new ones under new pastors coming out with different false doctrines -- though these are all just rehashing of the older heresies (as the enemy of The Catholic Church is not very smart and just rehashes old heresies like the Baptists, Pentecostal-Montanites etc.)

You're right that all of these "Evngelicl" groups are the same, AntiChrist, good point.

There is still time for all to be saved in Christ and to experience a true personal relationship with Christ in the Eucharist, in Christ's One Holy Apostolic Catholic Church

I was hoping you would comment on authority. Small "a", man's authority. Those who seek "authority", who want to be under the authority of someone seemingly in charge, telling them what God says, wants, demands, desires, will see the Catholic Church and want that authority.

Those who desire freedom from "authority" and believe God's Word is the Final Authority, will flee doctrines of men and tradition, and seek God's Authority in His Word. And they will find it. It's there. It's been there all along. Waiting to be revealed to those who seek and believe.

"These "Tiber" stories are fabricated PR repeated over and over as if they were somehow new and spontaneous."

So instead of directly citing the flawed Pew Report you are now citing news paper accounts of the Pew report published in a paper owned by the Rev. Sung Myung Moon. Have you crossed the Han River instead of the Tiber and become a Moonie?

The name "Catholic Church" appears in the title of the Catechism of the Catholic Church and is also the term that Paul VI used when signing the documents of the Second Vatican Council.

This is the Church of The Apostles of Christ, the Church founded BY Christ and cared for by the Holy Spirit.

The Apostles went to the ends of the Earth setting up the Church -- whether to Asia Minor and the Ukraine (St. Andrew) or India (St. Thomas) where all teach and have taught orthodoxy

The councils of the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church (consisting of the Catholic, Orthodox, Oriental and Assyrian Churches) compiled the Bible through the grace of the Holy Spirit in the Councils.

hallelujah! God is in His Church, caring over it with His Holy Spirit and where we experience a personal relationship with Christ in the Eucharist. Come, come to the fullness of Christ

Actually, we've seen heresies and heretics since the time of Nimrod. A cult started by Nimrod and his wife, Semiramis spread among all nations at that time. They worshipped the Supreme Father, the Incarnate Female, or Queen of Heaven, and her Son. The cult claimed the highest wisdom and the most divine secrets. They had confessions to priests in their cult and mysterious rites.

And the cult did not die. It just tranformed itself into another religion, as time passed and the chance to do so presented itself.
