Note to the Village People: The lyrics in your biggest hit need an update. The organization previously known as the Y.M.C.A. is henceforth to be called “the Y.”
One of the nation’s most iconic nonprofit organizations, founded 166 years ago in England as the Young Men’s Christian Association, is undergoing a major rebranding, adopting as its name the nickname everyone has used for generations.
“It’s a way of being warmer, more genuine, more welcoming, when you call yourself what everyone else calls you,” said Kate Coleman, the organization’s senior vice president and chief marketing officer.

Actually, the Y.M.C.A. is giving Christians a bad rap for their establishing and maintaining of a chain of sodomy hotels. Or what else does the Village People’s song mean?
Not a big deal to me. Everyone I know (including myself) has called it “The Y” for at least the past 20 years.
The worshippers of Mammon are removing references to Christ.
They want to secularize and erase Christ.
So a couple of weeks ago we found out that the corporate weenies at Gov’t Motors were eliminating the familiar “Chevy” from its lexicon in favor of “Chevrolet.” Now the YMCA is doing to opposite. Of course, as has been pointed out, the real reason is to get rid of the “Christian” word, and probably “Men.”
What about the YWCA?
Look what they have already done to Christmas. It is no surprise what is going on here!
YWCA - There used to be a Young Women CHristian Association. Does that still exist or will that get a secular make over too?

My wife works at a Chevy dealership. They got a notice from Detroit saying that the dropping of "Chevy" was a mistake, that the policy was rescinded and that "Chevy" is still perfectly acceptable.
This pisses me off to no end.
As kids, we enjoyed the YMCA and felt more comofortable there because of the CHRISTAIN influence. It is what made them special and more trustworthy.

If i know they are Jewish, I wish them a Happy Hanukkah. If I THOUGHT they were Muslims, I'd wish them a Merry Christmas. I am not politically oorrect.
