OFFICIAL DECLARATION—2 (Mormon church/Blacks)

OFFICIAL DECLARATION—2
To Whom It May Concern:
On September 30, 1978, at the 148th Semiannual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the following was presented by President N. Eldon Tanner, First Counselor in the First Presidency of the Church:
In early June of this year, the First Presidency announced that a revelation had been received by President Spencer W. Kimball extending priesthood and temple blessings to all worthy male members of the Church. President Kimball has asked that I advise the conference that after he had received this revelation, which came to him after extended meditation and prayer in the sacred rooms of the holy temple, he presented it to his counselors, who accepted it and approved it. It was then presented to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, who unanimously approved it, and was subsequently presented to all other General Authorities, who likewise approved it unanimously.
President Kimball has asked that I now read this letter:

June 8, 1978
To all general and local priesthood officers of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout the world:
Dear Brethren:
As we have witnessed the expansion of the work of the Lord over the earth, we have been grateful that people of many nations have responded to the message of the restored gospel, and have joined the Church in ever-increasing numbers. This, in turn, has inspired us with a desire to extend to every worthy member of the Church all of the privileges and blessings which the gospel affords.
Aware of the promises made by the prophets and presidents of the Church who have preceded us that at some time, in God’s eternal plan, all of our brethren who are worthy may receive the priesthood, and witnessing the faithfulness of those from whom the priesthood has been withheld, we have pleaded long and earnestly in behalf of these, our faithful brethren, spending many hours in the Upper Room of the Temple supplicating the Lord for divine guidance.
He has heard our prayers, and by revelation has confirmed that the long-promised day has come when every faithful, worthy man in the Church may receive the holy priesthood, with power to exercise its divine authority, and enjoy with his loved ones every blessing that flows therefrom, including the blessings of the temple. Accordingly, all worthy male members of the Church may be ordained to the priesthood without regard for race or color. Priesthood leaders are instructed to follow the policy of carefully interviewing all candidates for ordination to either the Aaronic or the Melchizedek Priesthood to insure that they meet the established standards for worthiness.
We declare with soberness that the Lord has now made known his will for the blessing of all his children throughout the earth who will hearken to the voice of his authorized servants, and prepare themselves to receive every blessing of the gospel.
Sincerely yours,

Spencer W. Kimball
N. Eldon Tanner
Marion G. Romney

The First Presidency
Recognizing Spencer W. Kimball as the prophet, seer, and revelator, and president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, it is proposed that we as a constituent assembly accept this revelation as the word and will of the Lord. All in favor please signify by raising your right hand. Any opposed by the same sign.
The vote to sustain the foregoing motion was unanimous in the affirmative.
Salt Lake City, Utah, September 30, 1978.

"If the Negro accepts the gospel with real, sincere faith, and is really converted, to give him the blessings of baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost. IF THAT NEGRO IS FAITHFUL ALL HIS DAYS, he can and will enter the celestial kingdom. HE WILL GO THERE AS A SERVANT, but he will get celestial glory."

Because of the new revelation concerning blacks, Bruce R. McConkie has had to make a number of changes in his “best seller”, Mormon Doctrine.

IIRC, McConkie also said something similar to 'forget what I said on the matter' or something to that effect. Mormon apostle at work.

Whenever mortal man assumes authority over the Scriptures, and to make another revelation equal in authority to them, then the former will be misused and misconstrued, and the latter will contradict the former.

Since you cant read the mind of the Racist Romney, who are you to tell me to be still (quiet) ???

Romney was 30 years old and a dues paying member of a racist organization ...

by choice and by agreement...

Romney was not known to have ever left the organization due to its 140 years of blantant written and practiced racism...

Nor is he known to have ever voiced an opinion of disagreement or objection of that racist by letter, protest march, p0ublic broadcast, or lack of sustainoing a mormon leader or policy..

Romney was a common or garden variety racist...

There is no proof that Romney ever stopped his car and cried tears of joy over that same racist organizartion with which he had been agrrement ALL HIS LIFE, finally being FORCED to change one of its evil policies...

Replying to two different posts to save time, same issue.

______________________________________________________________
Mitt was driving and a woman did get killed in that accident...

and widdle Mitty hardly got a bruise...

Do ya have any tears for the lady who died due to Mitt’s reckless driving ???

Yes in 1969 two time draft dodging “white and delightsome” Mitt was driving an expensive Citroen in Paris and living in a mansion while black men and other young men were dying in the jungles of Vietnam...

So ???

______________________________________________________________

First off, Mitt didn't cause the accident, he was hit by another driver, who coincidental was a Catholic Priest. Some reports say the other driver was drunk. The woman killed was the Mission President's wife. Mitt and his companion were working with the President and his wife in the Mission home at the time, which you call a mansion, but it served hundreds of missionaries, so by design needed to be large. Mitt was reported dead, had severe injuries, but later recovered.

Here is the information:

http://www.boston.com/news/politics/2008/specials/romney/articles/part1_side/

However, following the pattern of hatred of all things Mormon and Mitt, it will be discarded for the more sensational rumor mill often found here. Frankly, this is why I don't often even read your posts very often.

I told you it was in a reading from a Baylor University religion class. Can’t remember exactly but I believe it was from an expose written by a former believer. Bottom line is they knew eventually they’d have to let the blacks into the priesthood but didn’t want to do it right away.
So they waited for the “revelation”. Just my beliefs. Not trying to sway anyone one way or the other. I guess it falls into the “more will be revealed later” category.

I don’t believe in the mormom teachings but I’ve always said a true mormon lives a more Christ-like life than a lot of Christians I know. Not the Harry Reid type, by the way.

Thank you for replying

Sadly some souls just seem to belong to the darkside and truth is not in them.

Some things I might disagree but I would find it very hard to lie because of my bias as some have shown they will do!

An article from Time Mag/CNN Romney father George Romney had a long record of supporting Martin Luther King, Jr. He attended his funeral in 1968 and believed his death was “a great national tragedy.”

http://thepage.time.com/romney-campaign-on-george-romney-and-dr-martin-luther-king-jr/

It seems Romney is mention on these LDS threads for bait it shows another side to the anti’s agenda while at the same time telling the LDS they care and love them!

But the opposition was known to speak half truths!

Some people have a lot of nerve, don’t they? For example, the history of the Southern Baptist Church in their segregation and blatant discrimination against Blacks - and remember Senator Byrd of the KKK.

I was raised a Southern Baptist in Missouri and I don’t remember Black people being allowed to attend our services. My Southern Baptist relatives were as red necked as you can get (sorry to say).

But even when I was a grown woman living in Alameda, I remember this Southern Baptist guy making all kinds of racist remarks about Black people

The anti Mormons just love to call members of the LDS CHurch racists but look who’s calling the kettle black. Ha! (Sorry, just couldn’t resist it.)

I am not ashamed to be a Mormon and I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

BTW, Mitt Romney campaigned for Meg Whitman in CA and she will be our next governor. Just wait and see. Look out Moonbeam!! Here she comes.

In other words, it wasn't originally God's idea..God had to be "supplicated" to change this doctrine, He really wasn't convinced but they sold Him on the idea.

Just like the POLYGAMY thing GOD tried to saddle MORMONs with!

What was HE trying to DO???

Get them wiped out like HIS other chosen people?
