Any time a church or even a diocese is conservative, it’s bursting at the seams and there are seminarians galore. I just got back from Madrid, which a few years ago had virtually no seminarians. A new bishop (Cardinal Archbishop, actually) came in and immediately devoted himself to encouraging traditional devotions, personal piety, pro-life activities, etc. and now...at the Corpus Christi procession last week, there must have been nearly 100 seminarians filing in. Amazing what a difference orthodoxy makes!

Indeed! Orthodoxy makes a huge difference.

The Church needs help next door in Portugal as well, especially in Lisbon and the Algarve (the South). Folks have been trying to write off the Church in Spain since Franco's death, but "rumors of its death have been greatly exaggerated."
