This study seeks to present from God's Holy Word what the Bible teaches about Mary of Nazareth, the young Jewish virgin that bore the Messiah, the Savior of the World. In this study we will seek to look at EVERY Bible verse found in the Holy Scriptures that pertains to Mary of Nazareth. Be sure to check out all the links for this study, for they will provide a deeper perspective into the person of Mary.
Introduction
In beginning this study, the clarifying statement should be made that the Bible, Gods infallible (reliable) and immaculate (perfect) Word, is the FINAL AUTHORITY when it comes to ALL matters pertaining to the truth of Christianity, which includes Mary (2 Peter 1:20-21; 2 Timothy 3:16).

Oh, here we go again.

I seriously doubt that.
It is also clear that the entire “Introduction” is a slam against Catholics.
Then you made the usual errors in exegesis:
“These passages reveal that Mary was a sinner in need of a Savior!”
No. Mary had a Savior - and He saved her from sinning. The verse about Mary’s sacrifice shows she did what was expected - not that she did what was needed because of supposed sinfulness.
“There are distinctions given by the Gospel writers (2 Peter 1:20-21) that reveal Mary as the mother of Jesus human nature, but again the term “mother” was never used by Jesus when addressing Mary. We have absolutely NO record of that.”
“When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing near, he said to his mother, ‘Woman, behold, your son!’. Then he said to the disciple, ‘Behold, your mother!” (Jn 19:26-27).
The Holy Spirit calls Mary Jesus’ mother.
.
Mary is amazing! Blessed!
Just not co-redemptrix. But it’s sad that just because of Catholic idolatry, Protestant Christians have a tendency to outright diminish her significance. It does Christianity a huge disservice to dismiss her.
Come to think of it, you make so many errors it would literally take hours to post all that is necessary. I’ll just do this instead: Go to this page http://www.cin.org/cinmateo.html and look down the list to “Mary”. There you’ll find gems like this:
Father Mateo Archives, February 18, 1994, Mary’s Sin Offering at Presentation
Nancy’s message reminded me of a verse many Protestants use to support Mary’s sinful nature. When Mary goes to the Temple in Luke 2, she makes a sin offering of the two doves in accordance with Jewish Law. I have always answered this that it is a tribute to her sinLESSness that she obeyed the Jewish law requiring her to do so even though she was not subject to it. Could you comment on both my response and the Protestant argument? Do you know of any other explanations for this action of Our Lady? Thank you, and God bless you in your continued good work, Father.
Dear Jeff,
Your response was right on. It is truly necessary to take Protestant objectors through the relevant Scriptures supporting our doctrines. Logic alone, history alone will not carry the conviction of Scripture. If we haven’t the chapters and verses at our fingertips, we must offer to look them up. For this a good concordance is necessary.
In Luke 2:24, Mary makes the sin-offering commanded in Leviticus 12:6-8. (The context is verses 1-8.) She did this, not because she was guilty of moral failing in having conceived and borne a child, but because she and Joseph were faithful observers of the Mosaic Law (Luke 2:23,24,39). They did what the Law commanded.
Temple sin-offerings never implied moral guilt, but were sacrifices made to expunge legal and ritual uncleanness. This is very evident, not only from Leviticus 12:1-8, but even more from Leviticus 15, where involuntary emissions, menstruation, hemorrhaging, and sexual intercourse produce ritual uncleanness, some of which requires the making of sin-offerings.
Leviticus clearly distinguishes sin-offerings (which did not imply moral guilt) from guilt offerings (which did imply actual sinfulness). The former are discussed in 6:17-23, the latter in 7:1-6. The distinction is reaffirmed in 7:7 and in Ezekiel 40:39.
In Ezekiel 43:18-27, directions are given for purifying the altar and making atonement for it. Verses 19, 21, 22 and 25 call for sin-offerings on behalf of the altar. Of course, an altar can be ritually unclean, but it cannot be guilty of moral guilt. Yet “sin” offering was made for it!
An example of guilt-offering being made to atone for actual moral failures is found in Ezra 10:10,19. The people’s sin was in taking foreign wives in violation of the Mosaic Law (Deuteronomy 7:3). For this, they were truly guilty.
Thank you for your message. I hope you will continue in your zeal to pray for others and help them to see the truth.
Sincerely in Christ,
Father Mateo
Thank you, finally, a factual account of the life of Mary that is in perfect harmony with the scriptures.
The co-redemptrix title isn’t even Catholic dogma! If you’re going to argue with us, argue over actual doctrine, which includes her title of Mother of God (Theotokos), perpetual virginity and her Assumption (all of which the Orthodox also believe), and her Immaculate Conception.
I’m not here to argue with Catholics. I was commending Fisherman’s post honoring Mary as God’s Word revealed her to be.
Mary is to protestants what Palin is to leftists....
You're right she was truly blessed.
Trouble is the statement above sounds demeaning when others are deifying her.
hey... That’s not true at all. We just do not worship her or give her a place that contradicts the Holy Scriptures. We keep her real and human.
“We just do not worship her...”
Catholics don’t worship Mary. You can tell by the lack of Catholics saying they worship Mary.
Freegards
“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” Matthew 7:21-23
What is, “...the will of my Father which is in heaven...”?
Clearly it is not this list of works these deluded souls list out to the Lord in an attempt to justify themselves. But if not, then what IS it? Jesus tell us in John 6:29.
“This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.” This is the much hated doctrine of justification by faith alone as taught by the Lord Himself.
Note that those who list out their works of piety are damned, not having believed the Gospel even though they are very actively ‘Christian’ and very religious, no doubt.
But Christ tells us that when we have done all that we should do, the best we can say about ourselves is that we are unprofitable servants. Note how different the attitude is from these false Christians in Matthew 7 who boast of their works.
Matthew 7:21-23 describes all Roman Catholicism and most Protestantism. Hell will be full of very religious people.
Thank you for posting this. Mary was an amazing, courageous young woman! She was so blessed! I can’t wait until I get to heaven and get to meet her.
Huh! Good call.
