“Saundra, do you believe that a mortal can become a god?”[SZ]

We are joint heirs with Jesus Christ. Hallelujah!!

I will take that as a 'yes'. And it is offensive to me for you to use the word 'Hallelujah' after spouting that BLASPHEMY!!!

Saundra, 'joint heirs' has NOTHING TO DO with 'becoming a God'. Satan was cast out of Heaven for wanting to become a god.

“only faith in the Jesus of the Bible will save and sadly the LDS church does not believe in that Jesus.”

That is a heinous lie. Jesus died for me, too. We believe in the Bible, too - King James Version. I love the Bible and believe every word is true. Your interpretation in leaving me out of Jesus’ Atoning Sacrifice is not accurate.

P. 102 of the LDS hymnal “Jesus, Lover of My Soul”:

“Jesus, lover of my soul.
Let me to thy bosom fly,
While the nearer waters roll
While the tempest still is high.
Hide me, O my Savior, hide,
Till the storm of life is past.
Safe into the haven guide;
Oh, receive my soul at last.

Other refuge have I none;
Hangs my helpless soul on thee.
Leave, oh, leave me not alone;
Still support and comfort me.
All my trust on thee is stayed;
All my help from thee I bring.
Cover my defenseless head
With the shadow of thy wing.”

We believe that when we sing hymns we are praying. Jesus is my Advocate and my Judge. Without Him we are all lost. I am not ashamed of Him, my Savior.

Amen.

Jesus Christ is everything to me.

- - - - - - -
Then why do you always identify as a ‘Mormon’? And what exactly is the “plan of salvation” according to you?

Honest questions.

Because there are NOT contradictions on the major things. Even what you posted does not contradict with other faiths. For example, I was baptized by immersion, my mother was baptized by sprinkling. Other Christian churches (including Catholic) will recognize both my baptism and hers. There is no ‘contradiction’.

However, the LDS are conditioned to think that all Christian denominations cannot agree on anything and fight all the time. That is simply not true.

If you can’t see and feel and experience the presence of the Holy Ghost in the hearts of these BYU musicians and singers, then I feel sorry for you.

Exactly.  Christians are just that, Christians.

We are not Baptized into a denomination.

Peter 1:
...

27 King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest.
28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.
29 And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.

Peter 1, Chapter 4

16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

ACTS 11

24 For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.
25 Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul:
26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
27
And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.
28 And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.
29 Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea:
30 Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.

You own faith's issues in that regard for one thing.

How many offshoots have there been from the Smithian movement? Chruch of Christ? Community of Christ? FLDS? RLDS?

All follow Smith, all use the BOM.

Oddly though I do not see much in the way of interdenominational (or in this case intercult/sect)ecumenical work going on. Indeed we just had an article today on FR over who has the right to use the term Mormon with the LDS Inc. asserting sole ownership to the name that Smith brought into this world.

Yet in my world, the one that Mormons love to try and erect these little walls around, I sit at a table with Southern Baptist, Catholics, Anglicans, Episcopalians, Methodist, Orthodox and others almost weekly in ecumenical youth and prison ministries either planning or presenting a single message of Christ Salvation through his grace to hundreds of folks through out the year. This is something we do with the blessing of our Churches and organizing/authoritative bodies and often with their finical support as well.

(As an aside, for those who like that “you should quit focusing on the LDS and go do something for your religion", well, like I have said, multitasking is easy for some of us)

Anyways, you are not the first Morg here to pull the “you guys disagree on yada yada yada” card and won't be the last, it's in the training. But the straining at a gnat while swallowing a camel verse is apropos for the LDS. In order to to cover for the lie of Mormonism that has been created for you, the PTB have built a foundation of thousands of little details and also in turn try and wrap up true historic Christianity in its minor battles, of which there are many, instead of its one shared over whelming truth.

“And it is offensive to me for you to use the word ‘Hallelujah’ after spouting that BLASPHEMY!!!”

You sound just like a pharisee. Lord have mercy. Is it “blasphemy” to love Jesus Christ my Savior forever?

I am a daughter of my Heavenly Father.

I was reading these posts but when you accuse me of blasphemy, in capital letters (screaming) followed by 3 exclamation marks . . . well, it makes me wonder about your soul. Good grief, already.

What a judgmental lot you are.

There are over 13 million Mormons. We are the fourth largest denomination in America. We have the Mormon Tabernacle Choir (President Reagan called it “America’s Choir”). I am not ashamed of my Church. I love my Church. I am not ashamed of the Gospel. I am so proud of our Missionaries, giving up two years (18 months for the sisters) to serve our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

How sad for you that you continue to mock my faith and my fellow believers.

Your concept of my Church is skewed. I have been a member for ten years. I don’t know where you get your information but you are wrong.

Jesus Christ is my Savior.

Sorry, but Jesus is not a brother of Satan nor a part of a polytheistic man-god committee.

You may well believe in the true Christ, and may well believe you are in the right place because you love the view, but you were baptized in the name of three Greek/Olympian style gods, not the One True God. You are in a cult that disagrees with you about the KLV bible, because it is not “translated correctly”.

God does not play. games, does not require “feelings’ to prove tangible things such as the supposed cultures in the BOM. God certainly holds a much higher standard for his Prophets, especially in accuracy and truth, than Smith ever came close to reaching.

The only heinous lie is the one you are currently immersed in.

You are leaving yourself out by placing your faith in a church, temple rituals and modern day prophets. And it is not a lie. The LDS disparage the BIBLE and believe in a different Christ:

The Church News, a Mormon newspaper, carried this statement concerning the Bible: “It is the Word of God. It is not perfect. The prophet Joseph made many corrections in it.” Church News (March 6, 1983, editorial page).

First Nephi 13:26: “... a great and abominable church which is most abominable above all other churches; for behold, they have taken away from the gospel of the lamb many parts which are plain and most precious...”

: “Both Catholics and Protestants are nothing less than the ‘whore of Babylon’ whom the Lord denounces by the mouth of John the Revelator as having corrupted all the earth by their fornications and wickedness. “Orson Pratt, The Seer.
eighth article of faith of the Mormon church: “We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly.”

Orson Pratt said: “No one can tell whether even one verse of either the Old or New Testament conveys the ideas of the original author.”

Gordon B. Hinkley HIMSELF stated that the LDS believe in a different Christ:

The LDS Church News reported: “In bearing testimony of Jesus Christ, President Hinckley spoke of those outside the Church who say Latter-day Saints ‘do not believe in the traditional Christ. No, I don’t. The traditional Christ of whom they speak is not the Christ of whom I speak.”

Please Saundra, look at this objectively and see what they are really saying.

Saundra, the LDS equate good feelings (warm fuzzies, burning in the bosom) with “feeling the Spirit”, but it is not equal.

We can enjoy things, even feel good about things that are NOT of God. We cannot trust our hearts for they are deceitful and wicked above all things (Jeremiahs 17:9).

Pretty music does not necessarily induce the spirit or state the spiritual condition of the singers. Barbara Striesand sings great Christmas carols, that doesn’t make her a Christian.

Use your mind and not your feelings to determine truth.

Well at least you are admitting you want to be a goddess. Sadly, wanting to be equal with God is what got Satan kicked out of Heaven.

Just because God made the universe and all the planets (worlds) does not mean we are going to get our own to be gods for.

The Plan of Salvation? Jesus died for me. This was Heavenly Father’s plan.

- - - - - - - - -
That is a Christian definition. Not an LDS one and far too simplistic.

LDS plan of salvation...

1) We could not progress without gaining a body, so we decided we wanted to come to earth to become mortal.

2) Because Adam and Eve couldn’t have children they HAD to fall (thus making it a fall upward) so all the spirit babies born to Heavenly Father and Mother could come get bodies.

3) We would be tested here on earth, learn the LDS gospel, take oaths in the temple and progress here on earth.

4) Jesus came to ‘make up’ for anything we couldn’t do, and too upon himself our sins in the garden of gethsemene and died on the cross so he could be resurrected showing we will ALL be resurrected some day. Jesus is our elder brother who taught us that we can all strive to be perfect (moral perfection) here in this life and to be a good example to us.

5) Those who die without the LDS gospel still have an opportunity in spirit prison to accept the LDS gospel and have their ordinances (baptism, endowments, priesthood, sealings) done here on earth by proxy.

6) Those who are faithful in mortality (their second estate) and live good righteous LDS lives get to go to the Celestial Kingdom where they will continue to learn and progress and become gods themselves.

THAT is the LDS plan of salvation. Work, work, work towards ‘godhood’.

Now, if you want to challenge me on this, I would be more than happy to provide documentation that what I type is the actual LDS “plan of salvation”.

I get my information from having been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for several years. My view point isn’t skewed, it is based upon experience.

Loving Jesus isn’t blasphemy, but you claimed to be able to become a god. And claiming you will be able to become a god IS blasphemy.

Christ did not condemn the Pharisees for being judgemental, he condemned them for focusing on legalism (much like the LDS do) and their religion rather than seeing Christ for who He is (much like the LDS).

Numbers, choirs, and boys guilted into spending two years of their lives going door to door does not make the LDS church “true”.

Muslims outnumber the LDS, are they more “true”?

San Fran has the fantastic “Gay mens chorus”, are they Christians?

JW’s spend more time than the LDS going door to door, does that make them ‘true’?

My soul is just fine thank you. I have placed my trust in Jesus ALONE for my salvation (not a church, my works, my ‘righteousness’ or ‘worthiness’, not temple rites, not baptism - although i have been baptized, not a priesthood). Jesus ALONE and when you have Him, you don’t need or want the extras because they lead to legalism (like the Pharisees).

It just really saddens me to see someone give up freedom in Christ for the chains of the Mormon church.

I love my Church. Jesus Christ is my Savior, Lord and Master; He is the Great Jehovah of the Old Testament and the Redeemer of the New Testament. Heavenly Father gave His Son to save the whole world from our sins. The Holy Ghost testifies of the Father and the Son.
