The fact is, presentation of the differences between Christianity and mormonism here in FR has resulted in a number of exmormons here who actively post and unknown numbers who are lurking.

Then that is a valid point for defending Christianity online. I was not aware that there are former Mormons on FR. Thank you for pointing it out.

“Argue” is not the same as “contend.” Please don’t twist my words.”

No such twisting was intended. I saw “Contend as synonymous with “argue”

“No one is saying you lead someone to the Lord by arguing with them. Contend means to maintain and/or assert.”

No one? I think you should read more of this thread because I think SOMEONE is saying that. YOU aren’t but SOMEONE is.

Look Edward. I know what Mormonism taught ME. I know what the Church publishes and it certainly isn’t what YOU profess.

You are the one who distorts the LDS teachings. I’m actually surprised you have not been excommunicated for your heretical teachings, but I suppose it is only because your small distorted publications have not even drawn attention from the brotheren in Salt Lake City.

You know less about Mormonism than I do. That’s perhaps why you are still enmeshed in its fantasy.

Have a good day, my FR Canadian.

Indeed, lots of them, as well as some who have mormons within their larger family structure. (marriage, relatives, etc)

Care to name who that SOMEONE is? Contend is contend. Argue is Argue. If you can show someone on this thread said to argue, then you might have a valid point. Otherwise I would suggest that you may be mind reading.

I’ve been a Christian for 5 years. I led a few people to Jesus. Not one of them did I argue to Him or debate to Him.

There have been mormons led to Jesus right here on these threads, and who knows how many who read the information posted do not post?

The mormon church has spent 180 years in hiding its true belief and does so today, so the shining of light on those beliefs is not "arguing", or in many cases even "debating".

Thus, there is always the effort to censor the FReepers who post mormon practices and doctrines, usually directly from LDS official sources.

I’ve never been mormon, but when I was 19, God warned me against mormonism...

The only mormon i have ever worked with was overbearing and gave the impression to everyone that she had the most knowledge about Christianity...and anything else...

She destroyed my belongings, illtreated me for weeks, sulked and was constantly angry at any imagined slight, and demanded that our boss fire me...

Why ??? Because a friend of mine invited the mormon woman to the Church we attended...apparantly that was an affront...

At 19, I had never experenced such hate or abuse before, and all I sould do was cry to God and determine that I would not say anything (how could I explain the shunning and the abuse? I didnt understand it myself.)

I read 1 Corinthians constantly and applied the verses to the situation...and was miserable...and felt alone...and I prayed ...and trusted God...and God delivered me...

The mormon woman also proslytised to our Methodist boss and when that didnt work she left in a huff...plus because our boss refused to fire me or obey her outrageous demands..

my boss called me into her office and asked me what had been going on ...

She showed me all the mormon literatura and pamplets she had been harassed with and we discussed mormonism...

My boss was a Godly fearing Christian woman and she explained that ,mormonism was a cult...

In the 40+ years since I have met several mormpons...and been accosted on the street and at my door monthly for years at one time...

Mormon children eggged on by mocking adults have terrorised my little children as we went into our church by yelling at them that they were going to Hell because they were not mormon and laughed when my children cried

Mormons have come to my door and told me I was not a good loving Christian because I refused to get dead dunked for my many non-mormon ancestors...

(This was in the early 1980s...the idea being that if I could identify my gg grandfather then the mormon god required me to do “the worrks” for him)

Mormon missionaries have run after me in the street and accosted me saying I was going to Hell because I said Joey Smith was a liar and false prophet and the book of mormon was not “twoo”

(The street is not like a persons door. the mishies just follow you down the street)

From the onset, I knew more than the average mormon about mormonism, but it was years before I knew that I knew it...

Where Christians have in their hands all there is to know about Chjristianity in the shape of the Bible, mormonism is so convoluded and “progressive” that new and improved information was added as the years went by since 1830 and the first book of mormon...

With the additions of the book of abraham, the pearl of grat price, the word of wisdom and all the subsequent writings of the mormon leaders, mormonism is a far cry from the original ideas of Joey Smith...

Mpormons cannot pinpoint where mormonism bergins nor it seems where it is suppose to end...

While Christianity has its basis on the Cross of Jesus and Hisd death and resurreftion, mormonism can be any number of astounding things, including the belief in the need for polygamy to advance to godhood and thus onto ones own planet...

I often wondered what i would do with all the info I had gathered about mormon beliefs and doctrines...then I started to see religious wars in the internet...Christians defending their faith against the mormons and mormons denouncing the posting of mormon doctrines...

If this was my calling so be it...

For the last few years I have had the privilege of being numbered amongst the Flying Inmans ...and I feel like i have sneaked in the back door...

I pray for the salvation of the mormons in these threads and elsewhere, and I also pray for the exposure of the evil cult of mormonism and how it is not related to Christianity...

As you can see, the mormons themselves are their greatest enemy when it comes to uncovering what they really believe...

The people that are trapped in mormonism have a right to be free from their shackles...

and have a right to be saved and washed clean of their sins by the Blood that Jesus shed on the Cross ...

In chapter 16 it implicitly taps into popular assumptions about Nicaea and then says that “false Christianity” (that the “Roman emperor adopted”) “taught that God was a being without form or substance.”

A helpful diagnostic: the Nicene Council is to heretical sects as garlic is to vampires.

“there is always the effort to censor the FReepers who post mormon practices and doctrines, usually directly from LDS official sources.”

See, now that I do not agree with. If you belong to a church, you should be proud of the things that church espouses, not try to censor others from posting such things. I myself do not have a big problem with mormons, it just bugs me that they think they deserve to be called “Christian” on the one hand and yet on the other, they say “Christians are pagans.”

They should make up their minds.

Nana, you have had a hundred times more (and worse) exposure to Mormons than I! I have not had any of the encounters you have had although I have read stories similar to yours. My experience with the few Mormons I have met and known have been pleasant and nonchalant. This is why I do not have strong views toward Mormons/Mormonism as do you and colorcountry. However, if I’d had the same experience you had at 19, I think I would not take too kindly to being harassed.

The mormons who kept coming to my door wanting me to get dead dunked for my ancestors who had been dead for 300 years were very charming...

They told me all about the information on all my relatives that had been collected and stored in Chryenne Mountain...imagine that...oh, joy salvation is a cave full of copies of old documents on my first New World families...

However it did get quite intense when they started to fight over me with the JWs for who was going to get me as a slave in their individual afterlifes...

I dont know who was the craziest...the JWs who claimed me as a slave first...or the mormons who begged me to reconsider and be their slave instead...

I was a Blood brought spiritfulled Christian and and therefore a juicy prize...neither side was giving in...

Have you ever been in the middle of a battle between two cults...its pathetic...but fun...it went on for weeks..the mormons trying their best to remember to “stay sweet” to me...the JWs not caring in the least...

LOL at least the JWs were more honest...

From the original article...

Soon pagan beliefs dominated the thinking of those called Christians. The Roman emperor adopted this false Christianity as the state religion. This church was very different from the church Jesus organized. It taught that God was a being without form or substance.

Make no mistake, the manual is not doing ALL of what Mormons complain that the wide range of countercultists do, but it is hypocritically doing a great deal of it. The manual digs its criticism in by calling these people with pagan beliefs those “called Christians”. It in effect is calling them so-called Christians. So the manual isn’t merely criticizing the religious systems (which teach God is spirit and not a material substance) as false Christianity; it is also suggest its adherents are merely “called” Christians.

How often have we seen this same tactic in posts here on the mormon threads by the mormon apologists?

Daily! And usually in a snide supercilious fashion with an undertone of superiority.

"Mainstream" Christians" Ding! "Progressive Christians" Ding!

After I graduated for college I took the LSAT...January, 1982

A fat guy in shabby USAF uniform was sitting at the front of the room...

Before the test began he got up and announced to the packed room that he was a mormon and had just flown in from Germany to take the test...

he laughed at the room and said that none of us would pass the test and we may as well just go home...

I was appalled and embarrased for him and wished i was still in the USAF so I could get him for his rotten appearance...some girls were upset...some people objected to what he said...others asked what a “mormon” was???

But he was just getting warmed up...he shouted over the objections and mocked them...

He claimed he was the only one who would pass the test because his “bishop” had prayed for him before he got on the plane and to paraphrase, pronounced a curse on us all...

Now at the back of the room near the door were several big old linebacker types, and I was in the line of fire...if those jocks all tackled that one flabby mormon I was going to get crushed...

Right then the instructor came in with the test and his fat stupid heathen hide was saved by the bell...
