Nuts and Bolts - By Tim Staples: Mary Worshippers Need Not Apply

The Scenario:

Ever have one of those days when you’re feeling full of energy and vigor? I mean, you’re feeling just obnoxiously happy? Well, this is one of those days.

Driving home from work, you switch on the radio to see what’s happening, and you tune in to a local Protestant radio station just in time to hear a preacher speaking against various Catholic doctrines concerning Mary. The show is called Pastor Bob’s Bible Hour. Pastor Bob proclaims: “Jesus knew Catholics would come along and begin to worship His mother and call her perpetual virgin and absurd things like that. But the Bible says: ‘Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And are not His brethren James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? And are not all of His sisters with us?’ (Matt. 13:55-56a). And isn’t it sad, my brothers and sisters?”

Pastor Bob goes on to say: “Jesus dealt with these Mary worshippers in His day. In Luke 11:27-28, the Bible says, ‘A woman in the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, “Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts that You sucked!” But He said, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”’”

On a normal day you would probably just listen, take a few mental notes and drive on. But not this time. You’re feeling a little bit too saucy. You take the first exit you see and head for a phone. This is just one more reason why you need to buy that cell phone you’ve been talking about getting.

Step One:

“See, all this is philosophical speculation.”

The Greek word for mediator as used in the bible is interpreted as “one who intervenes between two, either in order to make or restore peace and friendship, or form a compact, or for ratifying a covenant, an arbitrator. John 2:3 does not fit the biblical description of a mediator.

It is an interpretive fallacy to co-opt a word that has a discrete biblical meaning as applied to Christ’s sacrificial work of reconciliation and use it to enhance some speculative dogma and all of the extra-canonical texts have no force in taking away the plain meaning of the word as used in the scriptures. Jesus’ response to his mother’s observation at the wedding demonstrates that she was no “mediator” there, “Woman, what have I to do with you?”

Ask Petronski. I gave him the verses 20 minutes ago.

Ratzinger did not desert for ideological friction between himself and National Socialism. He, and 90% of the German army deserted in the face of certain defeat.

Thank you. I do hold fast to the traditions taught us in the Scriptures. Just not to the traditions of men taught by Rome. They are legion. They kill.

Just come and say it! Ratzinger is a Nazi! Stop beating around the bush!

"I do hold fast to the traditions taught us in the Scriptures."

That is a contradiction.

Remember you said that.

I said it twice.

If experience is any teacher, 100 posts from now you will be accusing me of bringing it up all by my lonesome.

If that's your experience, you need medical intervention.

I respond to misrepresentations, distortions, and hatred of the Catholic faith wherever I find them.

But you just admitted, "twice," that you weren't responding to anything I had said about Ratzinger and his father on this thread.

See? That's stalking. You brought a discussion from another thread onto this thread and started arguing what was not being argued.

Tin cans clattering...

Ratzinger did not desert for ideological friction between himself and National Socialism.

That's a convenient charge for an enemy of the Catholic Church, but you have no proof.

Find Mary:

Rev 4:1

After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.”

2 Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. 3 And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald. 4 Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads. 5 And from the throne proceeded lightnings, thunderings, and voices. Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.

6 Before the throne there was a sea of glass, like crystal. And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back.

The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle. 8 The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying:

“ Holy, holy, holy Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!”

9 Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying: 11 “ You are worthy, O Lord,

To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist[ and were created.”

The queen of heaven is a pagan goddess, as i say if the Catholic church wants to claim a pagan goddess that is between them and God

Admitted?

Stated. I stated it twice.

See? That's stalking.

Baloney. I replied to eight of your posts on this thread before noticing your omission and asking about it.

YOU do.

Not us.. we have no queen in heaven. We do have a King of King and Lord of Lords.. but no queen.

So do you believe Jesus married his mother?

Some men have itching ears and enjoy the sound of their own names waaay too much.

Calvin, Zwingli, Luther, Machen, Bahnsen, Toplady, Sproul, Young, Smith, etc.

She is a Queen Mother, not a Queen Consort.

You specifically said this:
Ashtoreth,/Astart/ Ishtar THAT is the queen of heaven .....
It is YOU who has a pagan queen of heaven, not Catholics.

Find Mary, part deux:

Rev 5:1

And I saw in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne a scroll written inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals. 2 Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?” 3 And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it.

If Mary's so perfect, let her open it.

4 So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read the scroll, or to look at it. 5 But one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.” 6 And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth. 7 Then He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne.

Worthy Is the Lamb( well why not Mary?)

8 Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. 9 And they sang a new song, saying:

“ You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, 10 And have made us[d] kings[e] and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.”

11 Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, 12 saying with a loud voice:

“ Worthy is the Lamb who was slain To receive power and riches and wisdom, And strength and honor and glory and blessing!”

13 And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying:

“ Blessing and honor and glory and power Be to Him who sits on the throne, And to the Lamb, forever and ever!”

14 Then the four living creatures said, “Amen!” And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped Him who lives forever and ever.

The queen of heaven is a pagan goddess...

I know you've declared your belief in this pagan queen of heaven, but it's not true.

Mary Mother of God is Queen of Heaven, and she is not a pagan.

You do have a queen. Revelation 12 describes a woman, “clothed with the sun...and on her head a crown of twelve stars,” with a Child Who “who was to rule all nations with an iron rod: and her son was taken up to God, and to his throne.” The Child is obviously Christ the King, so how is not the crowned woman (Mary) a queen?
