Not enough sex talk in churches or seminaries, report says

Gender and sexuality have caused divisions in the Episcopal Church and the Anglican Communion. Same-sex unions are upheld in some churches and not in others; the same is true for gay clergy. While there are more than 3,300 churches that affirm lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender congregants, 57 percent of Protestant clergy hardly ever discuss issues specific to the gay and lesbian community.

But according to "Sexuality and Religion 2020," a report released this week, they probably should.

The report was published by the Westport, Conn.-based Religious Institute, a national interfaith network of more than 5,000 clergy and religious leaders.

On Tuesday, the report's authors described a "disconnect between religion and sexuality in America" and called for churches, synagogues and seminaries to work on narrowing the divide between faith and sex in the next decade.

Some gays / LBGT people seem to be at war with conservative Christianity due to deep-seated issues over having been bullied and beaten up and gotten no sympathy for it when they were a young person, and now they are hyper-sensitive and out to even the score against larger "straight" society.

 12.  But these men blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like brute beasts, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like beasts they too will perish.
 13.  They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done. Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you.

The whole LDS God was once a man who became a god that people pray to and if you’re a good Mormon then you, too, will become a god and people will pray to and worship you thing is absurd to begin with, though...

You seem to hold a common misconception caused by leftist propoganda. People are not defined by thier actions e.g. God hates the sin but loves the sinner.

What is the issue here is not acceptance of people but acceptance of homosexual sex.

Maybe next time if you phrased your commentary more accurately you would realize how absurd it is. e.g. to borrow your hrase and insert some reality: “such as that God loves and accepts all sexual activities wheter heterosexual among man and wife or homsexual between two people of the same sex”...

The argument could (and probably already is) taken further by saying “God loves and accepts all people whether gay or straight, incestophile or animalophile”.

If the point is, as you state, that God (supposedly) loves people no matter what kind of sexual gratification they seek or practice, why leave out some just because it’s distasteful to some old fashioned uptight prudes?

And the other point is that God’s love for His children doesn’t mean that He loves our faults, failures, discrepancies and sins. Far from it.

La Lydia, The Bible has clear teachings about the proper place that sex has in a believers life. Without proper teaching how shall Church members know what God's precepts are. The Church is to teach all of The Bible, not just some of it.

More harm is done to members of Christ’ body because of a lack of strong teaching concerning the proper role before God of sex than probably any other teaching. How much damage has been done in the family of God and, by our poor example, to the unsaved because of poor teaching regarding the proper place for a sexual relationship? How many babies have been murdered? How many families broken up? How many children suffering by being raised by only a single woman without a father's love, provision and example? How much physical disease transmitted? How many hearts broken? How much debauchery such pornography, child molestation and other perversions practiced?

Perhaps to keep modesty and proper sexual barriers well protected between the sexes it would be wise for sexual instruction in the Church to be carried out with a division between the sexes. Let mature Christian woman teach the younger women and the mature Christian men teach the younger men, but please on this extremely power packed subject, let it be taught in God's church. How we conduct ourselves sexually has the potential for great and wonderful blessing or the power to damage individuals beyond understanding. Let God's Word be the light that guides our paths!

As a pastor, it is impossible not to talk about sexual issues. It is NOT that we do not talk about human sexuality, but it is that we disagree about human sexuality.

As a pastor it is vital that one seeks God through His Word, prayer, fasting and seeking wise council until you know what the will of God is concerning this subject. How parishioners conduct themselves sexually is central to their Christian lives and greatly impacts their necessary duty to obey and please God. It is a pastors duty to teach his flock the whole council of God.

The Bible is, upon careful study, very clear concerning sexual matters. If one holds to errant views concerning sexuality it is likely because for personal, selfish reasons one does not want to come to terms with truth.

You should attend my parish here in Hollywood. Every other mass they make everyone feel guilty because we dont have “gay friends’ and that we should ‘have gay masses”. Everytime it’s gay week, they show up in droves, If it’s NOT gay week, they are nowhere to be seen. In other words, gay first, Christian second.

You know in your heart that this is wrong, not God's will. Please find a Church you can go to that teaches morality according to God's Word.
